Milford Scouts will again lend helping hands to collect and sort food over a 48-hour period so at the Milford areas less fortunate families can celebrate Thanksgiving this year. Troop 1 of Milford will host the event this year supported by more than a dozen other Boy Scout, Cub Scout and Girl Scout units.
The scouts will camp out at Milford’s Wasson Field over 2 days, collecting and sorting food donations from generous residents and staffing tables at local supermarkets. They are collecting frozen turkeys, non-perishable food items and monetary donations with all proceeds going to the cause.
When: Round the clock beginning noon Friday, November 11 to Noon, Sunday November 13.
Where: Wasson Field Parking lot, 54 W Main Street, behind Milford’s Parson’s Complex.

Why: Provide an estimated 300 Milford families with Thanksgiving meals as well as to support the Milford Food Bank, John Rrigely Food Pantry and Cornerstone Christian Center Food Pantry among many various other food distribution charities.
Over the last eleven years, Milford scouts have collected more than 70,000 pounds of food and 1,600 turkeys; and received more than $10,000 for this cause. In addition, the event is supported by numerous local businesses. Individuals can drop off food or money now at any branch of The Milford Bank now till October 29th, Mathnasium of Milford on Cherry Street in the ShopRite Plaza and Aquinas Consulting located on 601 Boston Post Road, Suite 9 (enter up the back stairs) in Milford, CT. Food can also be dropped off on Nov 12th from 8 am to 4 pm at area supermarkets including both Milford’s Stop & Shop locations, ShopRite or Adams Supermarkets. Food can also be dropped off any time round the clock starting at noon on Friday, November 11th through noon Sunday, November 12th at Wasson Field.
