The Amity Adult and Continuing Education is offering new programs for the fall season, including courses involving everything from financial and retirement planning to arts and crafts to health and wellness. Among the new fall courses:
October 24: Babysitting Basics
6PM – 9PM. Price: $35
Expect the unexpected and know how to respond. Course covers: Safety preparedness, Diapering, Handling emergencies, CPR and First Aid. At course end, individuals will receive a certificate of completion.

October 25: Fast and Easy Holiday Cards with Cricut
6:30PM – 8:30PM. Price: $25
Create fast and fabulous seasonal holiday cards using a Cricut Explore die cutter. Learn how to create dimension and add texture to your die cut designs so your cards POP! Bring your Cricut, mat, and laptop/iOS device. Instructor will provide the rest.
November 14 & December 12: First Aid
6PM – 9PM. Price: $40
This course will teach lay responders the knowledge and skills necessary to give care in an emergency, help sustain life, and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until medical help arrives. (Does not include CPR, which is a separate course). Some topics which will be covered include: Controlling bleeding, how to treat soft tissue and musculoskeletal injuries, how to identify the signs and symptoms of sudden illness including stroke, diabetic emergency, poisoning and allergic reactions, and how to care for them. Participants need to bring cash or a check, payable to instructor, in the amount of $40, for materials and certification card. ($20 if no card is needed). NOTE: If participants are enrolling in both First Aid and CPR, the book fee is only paid once. Contact instructor at 203-433-4050 if this is the case.
December 3: Computers & the Internet for Beginners (One on One Classes) 7PM – 9PM. Price: $70
Are you not technology savvy, but wish to learn about computers and the Internet? Would you feel intimidated if you went to a computer class because you think you may not know as much as anyone else, or might have trouble learning technology? Do you want to learn something specific about computers and not have to worry about the other stuff that you won’t use? In these customized one-on-one sessions, you will learn computers at your own pace. We will develop an agenda together and follow through until the objectives are met. These sessions are designed to revolve around you, so that you come out of the sessions with the knowledge and confidence that you are ready to take the next step in using and learning computers.
Possible Topics: Using Microsoft Windows; Using the Mac; Computer folder and file management; Using e-mail; Searching and using the Internet; Using Microsoft Office; Using portable/digital devices. If you don’t see a topic listed, call and ask!
Classes are held at Amity High School or in your home. (Home classes $10 extra).
