The Amity Regional School District budget, with a 2.25 percent increase, passed May 2 in a three-town referendum.
The budget passed in all three individual member towns – Orange, Bethany and Woodbridge. Orange voters approved it by 574 to 361. The overall 1,296 tally was to 808, or about a 60 percent margin in favor.
Because the three member towns split Amity funding proportionally based on student enrollment, which went down for Orange this year, taxpayers in that town will see a 1 percent decrease in their portion of the payment for Amity.
Last year, Amity’s budget went through three rounds of voting before the member towns approved it. Orange residents still voted against the budget in the third round, but were outweighed by Bethany and Woodbridge.
