The Amity Girls Force Team is not to be reckoned with. A program consisting of four different squads, the 6th and 7th grade team works hard to be competitive players.{{more}} It is designed to allow the girls a chance to play travel and learn the fundamental aspects of basketball while having fun.
“We prepare them to play competitively”, says Coach Brian McDonald,” we want them to understand the sport but also have fun while coming here”.
The team has done impressively well recently knocking out undefeated opponent Danbury on their home court.
They also received titles of 1st place in the Devan Tournament, and 2nd in both the St. Teresa and Ansonia Tournament.
Orange locals Head Coach McDonald and assistant coaches Robyn Martin and John Walsh coach the group.
Using basic guidelines the coaches promote the importance of attitude and energy. Small but effective strategies like having them practice lay-ups with their opposite hand is what makes this team aggressive but fun.
One player’s mom says, “From the dedicated coaches to the wonderful parents and to the awesome players, our kids are so fortunate to be apart of this team”.
The basketball club influences the girls to learn the fundamental perspective and apply it to real game situations. We have no doubt that the Amity Force Program will move on to win both the Shoreline and Fairfield playoffs.
