Anderson Endorsed By Educational Groups

Bryan Neil Anderson, who is running as a Democrat  for the 119th District state representative seat, has received the endorsement from one Connecticut education group and a high score from another in his quest to challenge Republican incumbent Kathy Kennedy.

The Connecticut Education Association placed Anderson on its Honor Role, scoring 99 percent on the organization’s legislative questionnaire.

“Your support for issues important to our members, their students, and the fundamental right of workers to collectively bargain has been made clear, and as a result our organization is proud to award you an Honor Roll designation,” the CEA wrote in a statement to the campaign.

Anderson also was endorsed by the Connecticut State University AAUP Political Committee, which represents about 3,000 faculty and professionals within the public higher education system.

“This endorsement is a result of careful consideration of your positions and our perception that you recognize the needs of public higher education in Connecticut,” the committee said.

Anderson was a member of the Connecticut Community Colleges Board of Trustees for seven years, and chaired the presidential search for Gateway Community College. During his tenure, he supported the relocations of Capital and Gateway campuses and Housatonic’s expansion. He resigned to become a Fellow of the New York City Department of Education and taught at P.S.47 in the Bronx for 15 years.

“I am pleased by the recognition of these two prestigious professional staff organizations who are front-line essential workers. It is meaningful for me to be recognized by academic colleagues and peers in my attempt to replace the incumbent in this election,” Anderson said.

Anderson, a longtime Milford alderman, will appear on the Democratic, Independent, and Working Families ballot lines.
