Milford Mayor Ben Blake issued an executive order May 4 that reopens the city’s parks and beaches, with some restrictions to limit the spread of COVID-19.
The order opens a few specific city-owned properties to public use: community gardens, the Milford skate park, tennis courts, pickleball courts, the Orchards Golf Course, Walnut Beach, Gulf Beach, Anchor Beach and Hawley Avenue Beach.
The properties are open only to Milford residents. Visitors must continue to maintain social distancing and cannot gather in groups of more than five people at a time.
The beaches will only be open for passive recreation: no chairs, blankets, coolers, bonfires, any group gatherings or sporting activity will be allowed.
The community gardens will be open on a rotational basis. Even numbered plots will be permitted on site Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon; Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to sunset. All odd numbered plots will be permitted on site Sunday from 1 p.m. to sunset; Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to sunset.
Basketball courts and playgrounds will remain closed.
