On Saturday the Orange Police Department received reports from three young persons of a possible body floating in Lake Wepawaug off of Grassy Hill Road, police said in a statement.
The body was seen floating face down about 15 feet from the shore. The area is known to be frequented by fishermen. Upon arrival officers observed a body, which appeared to have been in the water for a prolonged period, police said.
The Orange Fire Department retrieved the deceased. The deceased is an unidentified male of unknown race. The Connecticut State Police are assisting detectives from the Orange Police at the scene. An investigator from the State’s Attorney’s Office also responded.
The investigator from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner arrived and the deceased was transported to their facility for an autopsy.
