The Friends of the Milford Library is participating in the 16th annual National Friends of the Library Week from Sunday, Oct. 17 to Saturday, Oct. 23 with a free giveaway for those who are “friends” of the library.
The group’s annual fundraising event, Party in the Stacks, will not be held again this year due to public health concerns. Instead it will offer a “party in a bag” for the second year. The contents of the bag include literary-themed cocktail recipe bookmarks, some sweet treats, a trivia game, a specially designed 3D printed bookmark and more information on the organization. The bags were inspired by the library’s popular “take and make kits” for children and families.
The “party in a bag” is free and available to library patrons starting Tuesday, Oct. 19 on the upper floor of the library during regular hours. Bags are first-come, first-served.
During National Friends of the Library week, patrons can visit the FOML welcome table located on the lower level of the Milford Public Library to find out how to become a member or simply to show support. Fundraising efforts will be underway via FOML’s ongoing gently used book sale. Promotional merchandise is also available for purchase, including masks, coffee mugs and canvas bags.
Friends of the Library groups across the country will be honoring and promoting their organizations during the week.
“While FOML appreciates its members and their commitment all year, we look forward to joining with organizations nationwide to celebrate the good work of our local libraries, their dedicated staff members and our volunteers,” said Pam Pilla, FOML’s president.
