Connecticut House Minority Leader Themis Klarides, a Republican, today defended the integrity of the voting process in the state and around the country.
“Election workers here in Connecticut and around the country have worked tirelessly, even putting themselves at risk to make sure our elections for everything from president to local offices are safe and secure in these unprecedented circumstances,” she said. “In America we believe the vote is sacred, and it’s why every vote should, and will be counted according to the law. Efforts to undermine our elections process will not be tolerated.”
A winner in the presidential race still has not been called almost three days after voting ended. President Donald Trump falsely claimed early on that he had won, and misinformation about the ongoing vote count has swirled around the internet in recent days. Other races are still up in the air as record numbers of mail-in ballots continue to be tallied, including in Connecticut.
Klarides did not run for reelection in her district, which includes parts of Orange.
