To the Editor:
While many people are talking about the presidential election, our local elections here in Connecticut often go ignored. 2020 is an important year for our state and that is why I am writing to tell you about Mike Southworth, an incredibly passionate and dedicated public servant running to represent us in the state Senate. As a firefighter and EMS member for nearly 20 years, he has fought to protect and keep our community safe. Now he’s running on a platform of making Connecticut more affordable and renewing the spirit of bipartisanship that has been so lost in politics. Unlike his opponent who has voted with party leadership on nearly every major piece of legislation, Mike is pledging to cross party lines to pass important legislation that will repair infrastructure, bring high paying jobs back to our state and prepare Connecticut for future pandemics. Crucially, Mike will bring people together and put their interests ahead of politics. On policing, he would bring community leaders and police unions together instead of dividing them as James Maroney has. Mike will also continue to support legislation like the “Take Back Our Grid” Act, which holds state utility companies accountable. Now more than ever, we need people with first-hand experience fighting this virus in our state senate. As a lifelong resident of Milford, I hope you’ll join me in voting for Mike Southworth to be our next state Senator in the 14th District.
