Locally-Made App Connects Donors With Causes

A new app from a Milford-based family allows donors to view the real-time needs of nonprofit and service organizations – whether it’s donations of food and basic necessities, volunteer support, or participation in upcoming fundraisers.

Once a donor on the app, called Shopping Anyway, signs up and commits to help, the organization receives a record of that commitment, resulting in a two-way communication tool between the donor and the organization, all with just a few clicks.

“Until now, nonprofits have largely relied on static communications like social media posts, wish lists or email blasts,” said Shopping Anyway founder Christina Prete. “My husband Buddy and I have had a volunteer and give-back mindset since high school. We’ve served on boards and supported countless organizations. We created this app because nonprofits need a consistent and dynamic tool to attract and retain donors. Shopping Anyway connects people who ask ‘how can I help?’ with those who say ‘here’s what we need.’”

Jenn Paradis, executive director of the Beth-El Center in Milford, said the app “has been an incredible tool for our organization – making it easier than ever to communicate in-kind, volunteer and monetary needs directly with people who want to help. It streamlines giving, strengthens community connections, and offers outstanding administrative recordkeeping and data. It’s truly the future of how we connect with our supporters and ensure the evolving needs of our mission are met.”

Donors can download the Shopping Anyway app in both the Apple app store and Google Play store and get notifications of new needs from their favorite organizations.

Nonprofits and service organizations interested in joining the platform can request a free trial by emailing info@shoppinganyway.com.
