The former Staples at the Orange Promenade center, 100 Boston Post Road, will see new life as a medical clinic, barring a complaint from the Connecticut Department of Transportation and a few changes to the site plan.

The plan is to use half of the 28,000 sq. ft. building for a medical office. The Orange Plan and Zoning Commission determined the applicant had plenty of parking and the location was a permitted use for a medical clinic.
Their primary concern was that the site plan did not use any of the town’s approved materials for facade upgrades. The representative for the applicant agreed to change the materials.
“This is our opportunity to bring these buildings up to the current standard for the Town of Orange,” said Plan and Zoning Chair Walter “Beau” Clark IV.
There is also a need to update the center’s access to Route 1, that will require DoT approval. However the traffic issues can only be reviewed contingent on approval from the Plan and Zoning Commission.
The commission approved the application on condition that the DoT requirements are met and a new site plan includes approved materials.
The Orange Staple’s location closed January of 2015.
