Milestones Behavioral Services, a nonprofit based in Milford and Orange, is offering free parent support groups in English and in Spanish via Zoom in response to families’ concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic. The service is free and open to any family with a member diagnosed with autism. It can be attended by families and or caregivers.
Two members of Milestones senior staff will be facilitating the support groups: Judy Palazzo, vice president of Behavioral Services, and Dr. Solandy Forte, director of Milestones Family Services.
Some topics discussed might include reducing challenging behaviors at home or dealing with uncertainty due to COVID-19.
“During this time, we must all be a resource for each other,” Solandy said.
The English-language group will meet on Mondays at 1 p.m. on April 27, May 4, May 11, May 18, June 1, June 8, June 15, June 22 and June 29. The Spanish-language group will meet on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. on April 22, April 29, May 6, May 13, May 20, May 27, June 3, June 10, June 17 and June 24.
