Uganda Farmers Inc will hold its annual 5K run/walk, plus an untimed one-mile walk to raise funds on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 9 a.m. at the Walnut Beach Pavilion. There will also be a kids’ fun run.
Both courses have water views. Snacks and water will be provided as well as a raffle.
Uganda Farmers Inc. is a nonprofit organization that brings clean, running water to remote villages in Africa. The proceeds of this year’s event are for a Kitagwenda secondary school with 2,000 girls and boys who have depended on a very dangerous stream to provide their water needs. The stream has claimed the lives of several students and locals as they stooped to fetch the dirty water. The funds will go toward drilling a new well and constructing a water delivery system.
