Milford Book Club To Discuss ‘The Color Of Law’

Organizers of Milford’s Racial Justice Book Club will host their next virtual meeting on Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. to discuss The Color of Law by Richard Rothstein.

The book club was formed to support a Milford Board of Aldermen justice and equality resolution passed last summer to “build alliances with those committed to justice for all and to work together to support our shared conviction that racism must end.”

“Our hope is that these will be meaningful and honest conversations about racial injustice in the small city with a big heart,” club cochair Jolyn Walker said.

February’s conversation will be moderated by Dr. Yohuru Williams Williams, distinguished university chair, professor of history and founding director of the Racial Justice Initiative at the University of St. Thomas. He is the author of several publications that include Black Politics/White Power: Civil Rights Black Power and Black Panthers in New Haven and Teaching beyond the Textbook: Six Investigative Strategies.

Williams has appeared on a variety of local and national radio and television programs, such as the History Channel, NPR, ABC, Fox Business News and CNN.

All are welcome to join in respectful discussion. Registration is required. Contact Jolyn Walker at Milfordblmbook@yahoo.com for information.
