Milford Historical Society historian William Legere will present a program on General George Washington and the American Revolution on Monday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Mary Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church on the Green in Milford.
The date is also Martin Luther King Jr. Day; Legere will focus on the role of African Americans in the Revolution and Washington’s gradual growth, acceptance and appreciation of these soldiers.
Legere has been an educator for 25 years and is currently working on a doctoral thesis at Liberty University on the Marblehead Regiment, the most racially diverse unit in Washington’s army. Legere was born and raised in Milford.
