Milford music store Static Era Records will celebrate Record Store Day on April 23 by featuring exclusive releases, including titles from Taylor Swift, Elvis, The Cure, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, David Bowie, Stevie Nicks and the Foo Fighters.
Record Store Day dates back to 2008 as a way for the people who make up the world of the record store – the staff, the customers, and the artists – to come together and celebrate the unique role of independently owned stores.
“Having personally been involved with Record Store Day since 2017, we are excited to be a participating store and bringing Record Store Day to Milford, Connecticut for the first time,” said Static Era owner Jay Reason. “Local record enthusiasts can now shop right here in Milford and take advantage of the local restaurants and other businesses while they’re at it.”
Today there are stores participating in Record Store Day on every continent except Antarctica. Typical offerings for the music holiday include exclusive vinyl and CD releases, as well as various promotional products made specifically for this day.
“We’re also being proactive with designating an RSD drops date on June 18,” the organizers of Record Store Day said in a release. “That will serve as a street date safety net for titles that are part of the Record Store Day celebration, but for any number of reasons beyond controlling, can’t make it into stores on April 23.”
