Milford To Remember 9/11

Milford will remember the events of Sept. 11, 2001 on Wednesday, Sept. 11 with a ceremony of song and prayer at the September 11th Monument on the City Hall grounds. The anniversary of the terrorist attack will be marked with a ringing of the bells by Fire Chief Anthony Fabrizi at 8:46 a.m.

Victims Michael Miller and Avnish Patel were both graduates of Live Oaks School and victim Seth Morris was a student at Mathewson School.

Mayor Tony Giannattasio invites all residents to attend the ceremony and asks everyone to take a moment of pause and remembrance in honor of those who died, and those who participated in rescue efforts on that day.

If you are unable to attend the event the city has memorial sites you may visit. The Live Oaks Elementary School memorial garden. A section along the Housatonic River holds a “Flight 93 Heroes Park”’ in honor of the passengers on the plane who crash-landed in Pennsylvania to keep the plane from reaching its intended target. And a memorial bench sits in a small public park in downtown Milford on River Street between shops and restaurants.
