Charles Francis Luperella
Charles F. Luperella, age 30, of Milford, CT, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at his home in Milford with his loving mother and sister by his side. He was the beloved son of Linda M. Luperella (Yitts) and her partner Robert Forman of Milford and Francis G. Luperella and his fiancé, Donna Kintop of Boca Raton, FL. He was predeceased by his stepmother, Mona J. Luperella. Charlie was born in Warsaw, Poland and arrived in the USA in 1994, with his siblings, Peter and Natalie Luperella; followed by two of his other siblings, Christopher and Katherine Brennan, shortly thereafter. Charlie graduated from Joel Barlow High School in Easton, CT, class of 2010. After high school, he joined the Marines and graduated from Parris Island. He was eventually assigned to the Pentagon, where he interacted with all the top brass, scheduling flyovers and flights for all the “VIP” officers. It was here where he learned the skills to interact within the strict military protocol and demonstrated skillsets that he maintained the rest of his life. After his tour with the Marines, Charlie worked in the restaurant business for many years in various capacities and eventually became a server. It was in this role that he shined because of his outward personality and warmth, which contributed to the outstanding service that he provided to his customers. For those of you that knew Charlie, you’ll agree that he had a personality that was larger than life and a charming and caring heart. He held a special place in his heart when he used to go on many, many long walks with his mother throughout his younger years growing up in Milford and Easton with the family pets, Cody, Remy, Sonny, and Bella. He was a lover of all kinds of music and from an early age listened to classic rock artists such as Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin from days gone by, and most recently, Twiddle. He was educated, “tortured,” by his father who introduced, “forced,” upon him the American Standard Songbooks, Jazz, and Classical Music, especially Saturday nights with Frank Sinatra blaring in the background. He adored his nieces, Kaylee, Harlee and Skylar and loved spending time with them as their uncle. The photos of Charlie with each of them illustrate a deep love and joy when he was with them. Charlie knew everyone; he made friends easily and kept them. He was thoughtful and kind. Charlie was infamously known as his grandma’s favorite. They had a very special relationship, one that will transcend time, and continue when they meet once again in Heaven. He enjoyed spending time with his siblings, sharing stories and strengthening their bond. As the youngest child of five, Charlie traveled to Italy numerous times where he loved the culture, food, and history. He held many wonderful memories not only from Italy, but all other family travel and camping adventures through the years. In addition to his beloved parents and siblings, survivors include his stepbrothers, Christopher Puzzio and his wife Ashley of Fairfield, and John Puzzio and his wife Zara of Bridgeport; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends may visit the family on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 9-12:00 noon at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Rd., Fairfield. George MacLeman
George MacLeman, West Haven fixture and longtime resident of Orange, CT crossed the goal line into eternal life on July 11, 2022, at the age of 69. Devoted husband, friend, Grampy, best father in the world and hero to his three daughters, George dedicated his life to his family, friends, community and to unrelenting selfless acts of kindness. His unsinkable faith and optimism made him a beacon of light in times of darkness for so many. George was born on April 9, 1953, in New Haven, CT to Gertrude and the late Douglas MacLeman. The third of nine children, George had such fond memories of his childhood and loved sharing stories. One of his favorite memories was playing football outside the West Shore firehouse with his brothers and cousins. He was a proud member of the 1968 West Haven High School Westies championship football team, who were #1 in the state and #5 in the country that year, garnering their induction into the school’s Football Hall of Fame. His teammates remain some of his best friends to this day. A diehard Giants fan, George loved the game and one of his fondest memories as a kid was carrying the late Sam Huff’s cleats when the football great practiced at Fairfield University. A hopeless romantic, George would get teary-eyed recalling the anniversary of his first date with his wife of nearly 47 years, Carol, on April 10, 1971, when he took her to the Easter Vigil Mass at Our Lady of Victory Church in West Haven. Carol, his girlfriend as he still called her, was and always will be the center of his world and the love of his life. A former Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune, George loved his country and had a deep respect for U.S. veterans. After he was discharged, George began working as a flooring contractor, ultimately starting his own company. George was a tireless worker who still found time for his community. A few in a long list of activities were organizing benefits for friends and family, volunteering for the West Haven Football Alumni Association, fundraising for the Jimmy Fund, and most recently, serving on the Orange Memorial Day parade committee. George’s family was his pride and joy, especially his four grandsons. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with them – playing football in the yard, teaching them how to swing a golf club, playing chess, hosting sleepovers, organizing ‘special ops’ missions and summers on Cape Cod. George’s ability to find joy and awe in the simplest things made him a magical grandfather to his boys. George had too many friends to name, some he dubbed the Breakfast Club and the Magnificent Seven. His infectious laugh and booming voice will reverberate in our memories of him. George left this world better than he found it, and his loss will be deeply felt for years to come. Just like George Bailey in Frank Capra’s It’s a Wonderful Life, if George’s life was measured in love, he died the richest man in town. George is survived by his wife Carol Tartagni MacLeman; daughters Jennifer (Shane Sudduth) MacLeman, Sara (Lee) Boyd, Kate (Tommy Haugh) MacLeman-Haugh; grandsons Jack and Tyler Boyd and Jesse and Ian MacLeman; mother Gertrude Ryan MacLeman; brothers Billy and Jimmy Donegan; sisters Eileen Hemming, Barbara Franko, Mary (Luke) Petrelli and Jennifer (John) DiPaolo; father-in-law Joseph Tartagni; many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless family and friends. In addition to his father Douglas, he was also predeceased by his sisters Leslie MacLeman and Margaret DaCosta; niece Casey Hemming and mother-in-law Carol Tartagni.
The hours for visitation will be held on Sunday, July 17th from 3 – 6 pm at West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11 am in Holy Infant Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s name to the Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.jimmyfund.org/gift.

Cynthia L. Pepe
Cynthia L. Pepe, 48, of Milford, passed away on July 5, 2022. Born on September 14, 1973 in Milford, CT, she is the beloved daughter of Ernest and Elaine (Sebas) Pepe.
From the earliest years of Cindy’s childhood, she was always a force to be reckoned with, in all the best ways. Her kindness was limitless, her giving nature was unparalleled, & her passion for the things she loved pushed her to always go above and beyond.
Cindy grew up on the football fields, with a whistle in her mouth, admiring her father as he coached teams to victory. Like him, she became quite the athlete in high school, as well as sharing her beautiful voice and pursuing her love of music in the school choir. It was also in school, that she met Theodore, or T.J. Stanko, who she would someday marry. Together, Cindy and T.J. had two children, and Cindy always said that was the most beautiful thing he ever gave her. Out of all the accomplishments Cindy achieved in her life, she undoubtedly was made to be a Mom. She supported, loved-on, and was the biggest cheerleader in Samantha & Tyler’s lives, and she tried her best not to miss a single moment.
Selfless; Cindy was the embodiment of acts of service. She never had much, but she behaved as though she had the world to give. The shirt on her back was yours, even if it was her last one, if only it could make someone happy.
Whether it was buying a homeless person a hotel room on a cold night, or throwing endless fundraisers/benefit concerts for a recent tragedy, Cindy just wanted to do her part to make the world better & kinder.
At the Boy Scouts of America, she spent many years as the Program Assistant, but Cindy often well exceeded her job description. One of her projects she was most proud of was her active role in making Cub Scout Day Camp a success for all kids. For two years, she even worked as a team with her daughter to put on a program they designed side by side.
It was later in her life, however, that during a pandemic, Cindy and her daughter decided they wanted to impact a community with the gift of health, wellness, & Good Vibes. With the help of family and friends, they opened up Good Vibes Nutrition, in the small town of North Branford, CT. It was Cindy who came up with their mission statement; For every person who walked through their doors to leave feeling better than when they first came in, & know that all people were welcome if only they upheld two simple words: Be Kind.
Customers quickly became friends, and those friends quickly became family, and with the help of an amazing group affectionately coined, the ‘Good Vibes Girls’, the space transformed into Cindy’s happy place. Cindy loved to sit on the couch with a tea in hand & friends at her side; greeting every person, kiddo, or fur-baby, that stopped by. Sometimes her boy would stop by for a shake, while they handed out handwritten tags, known as ‘Extra Good Vibes’, written by her Mama to make someone’s day a little brighter.
Cindy’s proudest moments were often through a mother’s eyes; working a business she loved with her daughter Samantha, & watching her son Tyler graduate as a New Haven Fire Fighter.
She loved to goof around, go on long drives without a particular destination, and sing her heart out like no one was watching, even if it was just to her dog Tessa.
Her legacy can be summed up with this quote:
“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” ~ Pablo Picasso
In addition to her parents, Cindy is survived by her daughter, Samantha (Bryan Creevy) Pepe; son, Tyler Stanko; and her favorite children, Klausy Poo and Tessa Gray. She is also survived by her close friends, Jennifer O’Connor Condriet, Linda Creevy, Jeff Garrand, Diana Knapp, and Tiffany Arsenault; honorary daughter Ruth Collier, her ‘Good Vibes Girls’, and many extended family members. Cindy was predeceased by one of her best friends, Herb Kemp ‘Kempy’.
A gathering of friends and family will take place on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460. Interment will be private. In honor of Cindy, you are welcome to send flowers in her loving memory, or make a donation to a cause she was passionate about: the Dan Cosgroves Animal Shelter, in Branford, CT. Cindy believed that every fur-baby(animal) deserves a good home, & if she could she wished she could take them all in herself.

Chance Dian Thompson
Chance Dian Thompson, 19, of Orange, beloved daughter of Misty Thompson, passed away on July 9, 2022. She was born on May 24, 2003 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Chance was an honors graduate of The Sound School and currently enrolled as a sophomore at Eastern Connecticut State University where she was majoring in history and minoring in anthropology. Chance had many passions in life from reading, volunteering at the Orange Historical Society, watching anime with her best friend Emma, planning her future or just hanging out with her many friends to name a few.
Her love for reading was immense. She would visit a bookstore and always walk out with more than 1 book.
In addition to reading, Chance loved history, especially European history for which her college major was focused on. She planned to visit Italy during her senior year of high school, but was unable due to COVID. That didn’t deter her as she was planning not only to visit Italy, but other areas of Europe as well in the coming year.
Chance was one of the youngest elected board members of the Orange Historical Society where she volunteered often.
Most importantly Chance cared more about others than herself. If she wasn’t helping someone with homework, offering her shoulder to cry on, encouraging others to preserver no matter what the odds were or just helping a complete stranger. Chance impacted the lives of so many people in such a positive way that can’t be measured.
Along with her mom, Chance leaves behind her brother, Bryant Vanderlei; grandfather, Glen “Poppy” Ritzman; aunts and uncle, Kristy and Will Yocum, Jennifer Kline, and Jennifer Van Etten; cousins, Amanda, Jonathan, Marissa, Aaliyah, and Tavion; great uncle, Eugene Ries; godparents Lisa and Chris Dunn; father figure Allan Cox Jr., and many pets and good friends. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Sherrie Ritzman and great grandparents, Dian and Harlan Ries.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Orange Historical Society.
James Glass Turnbull Jr.
James Glass Turnbull, 68, of Milford, beloved husband of Melissa (Hopkins) Turnbull, passed away on July 9, 2022. Born on August 6, 1953 in New Rochelle, NY, he was the son of James Glass Turnbull, Sr. and the late Jo Golliday Turnbull.
In addition to his father and his wife, James is survived by his children, Jamie (Roxy) Turnbull, Kate (Sean & Winnie) Fisher, and Alexandra (Matthew Jurczyk & Harry) Turnbull.
To all, James was known as the life of the party, someone you could talk to about anything, and of course, the most amazing chef. He was a friend to all, whether you were close to him, or checking out his groceries. He knew everyone’s name & life story because he was genuinely interested. He had a super power of making you feel special in a way no one else could. James was an avid reader & writer and always used his personal experiences to tell a story. His sense of humor brightened every room and to most, an uncontrollable laughter to follow. He loved his children more than anything in the world and will be deeply missed. Papa, Mr. T, JG, you will be loved always.

She was named the “Mother of the Year” by the Woodbridge Recreation Department not just once, but twice! Other favorite activities were cooking and baking (her love language was food), listening to Sinatra music, shopping, playing “Wheel of Fortune” at the casino, and travel. Favorite travel spots were Cape Cod, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Hawaii, and Italy. We will remember her smile, warmth, boundless energy, helpfulness, and love for life. For Sara, every day was a celebration. Her love for her family is her legacy.
Sara was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Woodbridge and Holy Infant Church in Orange. She was particularly devoted to the Blessed Mother, and her strong faith and love for God helped her through the most difficult times in her life.
