Jacen Paul Gallbronner
Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.
~ Dr. Seuss ~
It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Jacen Paul Gallbronner’s passing on May 22, 2023. It’s clear that Jacen touched the lives of many during his short 20 years on earth. His absence will surely be felt by those who knew and loved him. It’s important to remember the positive impact he had and keep his memory alive in our hearts.
He was deeply loved by his family, Tom & Cathy (Dad & Mom) the coolest big brother (Jared), and four very protective shepherds (Rylee, Jager, Stella & Remy). His loving grandparents Claudia & Frank Matthews (Mimi & Poppy), his adoring aunts and uncles (Christine & Frank Paine; Tracie & Kevin Flynn), and the cousins that always made sure to include him – even if it was just for the funny pictures (Kaitlyn, Kelsie, Kate, Frankie, Abby, Maddy, Michael, Caroline).
Jacen was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Fran & John Gallbronner, and his sister, whom he was never able to meet, Cherish.
Jacen had his loving and supportive staff that quickly became family. We all would not have lived our best lives with Jacen if it weren’t for you: Matthew Roscoe, David Whitney, Melvin Brand, Kia Santo, Jared Gallbronner, Frank Paine, Alyssa Chouinard, and Allison LePage. Some staff that left but remained a part of our lives: Chris Stango and Faithlyn Miller.
Jacen attended 3 schools during his educational career: Aces, Village School, Giant Steps, and Milestones Behavioral Services. MBS was the place where Jacen could truly be himself. He found his “people”. They allowed him to shine and nurtured him as if he was their own. Sure, he left some battle scars, but those love bites are just his way for you to remember him. Fortunately for Jacen… there are just too many special people to name, but for me and the support I received there advocating for his needs every time; I thank Aimee, Lisa, and Tracy – without you 3 ‘mothering’ him; he would have never gotten this far.
To all the Yale Peeps that handled all his medical care and taught me how to care for him in ways I never thought possible. From Dr. Angoff, Dr. Miller, Dr. Spencer-Manzon, and Dr. T to Emily and Kristen and the countless nurses and PCAs that greatly impacted our lives. WE THANK YOU! You are our HEROS!
We didn’t realize we were making memories; we just knew we were having fun.
~ Winnie the Pooh ~
The power of one person’s impact on others is truly remarkable. He showed us that sometimes the best thing to do in life is to wake up and express love to the people around you. He also taught us forgiveness. Jacen may have expressed his anger or excitement in unusual ways, but five minutes later he would give high-fives and special kisses as if nothing had changed.
Jacen had a unique ability to make everyone that worked with him feel that ‘they’ were his favorite; he did this by a special look, a song, a toy, a story, a favorite YouTube video he needed to share with you or that special place that he wanted only you to take him. He approached every day with innocence and pure joy that most can never achieve… but he did.
Saying goodbye to a child is difficult, but saying goodbye to a child that didn’t talk is different. He didn’t speak words to you, but you knew. You knew that he loved you with every part of him. You knew that he forgave you for ‘losing your temper’. You knew that no matter what, his love for you never left. He was never angry at you, frustrated maybe, but that wasn’t at you, but rather his own physical limitations to do the things he loved with you.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Buckingham Avenue, Milford beginning at 9:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life memorial service at The Gallbronner home at 11:00 am for all that knew and loved Jacen.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked Memorial contributions can be made in Jacen’s memory to Milestones Behavioral Services.

Michael Kijewski
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our generous brother, uncle and dear friend, Michael Alexander Kijewski on May 15, 2023. He was only 63 years old.
Michael (Mickey) was born on April 1, 1960 in Culver City, CA to the late Aleksander and Jadwiga Luczakowska Kijewski. Mike graduated Cum Laude from Jonathan Law High School in Milford, CT and went on to further his education receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources from the University of Connecticut, a Master of Business Administration from the University of New Haven, several certifications in Grounds Keeping and Arboriculture from Quinnipiac University and The Connecticut Tree Protective Association, was an Accredited Nurseryman and member of the Connecticut Environmental Council.
Mike is the youngest of five children and is survived and missed by all four siblings, their spouses, several nieces and nephews, and countless friends, colleagues and acquaintances. They include brothers Chester (Ania) Kijewski, George Kijewski, Andrew Kijewski and sister Agnes Phipps.
Mike started his love of nature and landscaping working for his brother George. Actually let it be known that all of the Kijewski family members have a green thumb and produce spectacular gardens, so this talent truly runs in the family. Not before too long, Mike, who was never scared to take on new opportunities, ventured on his own opening Arboreta Landscapes in 1985. Mike was a visionary, artist, and perfectionist who did everything with honesty and integrity. He had very strong values with the kindest soul, an enormous giving heart and mischievous sense of humor. He was well-liked by everyone, gave his all, never expecting anything in return. He was generous to a fault, loyal, and brave. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge taking the time to answer any plant, grass, or tree question thrown his way.
In addition to cultivating Arboreta into a premiere landscape service, Mike always made time to help others, mentoring and hiring many of the young athletes in Milford. He never judged and everyone got a second and third chance. Every year and throughout the year, Mike supported numerous organizations and hosted fundraisers for those organizations that shared his love of Milford and our country.
Not only did he take pride in his work, but also in his friendships which he treasured as his most valuable asset. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it. His legacy will carry on forever and his absence is felt beyond measure.
In typical Mike fashion, there are no formal services planned, certainly no pomp and circumstance. A celebration of life will occur at the convenience of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael Kijewski/Arboreta Landscapes Scholarship Fund. Checks should be made out to Milford Public Schools (Kijewski/Arboreta in memo line) and mail to Office of the Chief Operations Officer, Milford Public Schools, 70 West River Street, Milford, CT 06460.

Janice E. Uberti
Janice E. Uberti, 78, of Milford, beloved wife of the late James E. Uberti, Jr., passed away on May 1, 2023. Born in Laconia, NH, on September 20, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Doris (Breton) Clough.
Janice was born in Laconia, NH in 1944 and came to Milford, CT when she was just a teenager. She caught the eye of her husband, Jim (married 45 years before his passing in 2008) when she was a freshman at Milford High School. Truly love at first sight, they married and together raised a family.
Janice wore many hats; there was no household repair, task or job that she was afraid to undertake. She worked hard alongside Jim to provide a loving and safe home for their family. Janice’s work ethic was something to be proud of. She worked at several factory jobs, including Bic and Schick, waitressed and also opened her own restaurant, Jan’s Place. She was a secretary at St Gabriel’s Church and worked with family at Uberti’s Fish Market. For last the 20 years of her career she worked as an administrator for Porter and Chester institute in Stratford, CT, retiring in 2019, where her co-workers affectionately referred to her as Mama Bear. Janice gave her very best in everything she did and was the perfect example of selflessness. Being with her family, and the life she and Jim created, was her pride and joy. With each one of the grandchildren arrivals her heart grew even bigger. She cherished every moment, and just enjoyed being in their presence.
Janice loved card games, reading murder mysteries and watching Hallmark. She was up to join in any game that was offered up. Even at 73, she played on the softball team at Porter and Chester Institute. Janice will always and forever live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother, sisters and brothers in law, nieces, nephews, cousins and all that knew her.
