Andrew George Mayshar

Andrew George Mayshar, 75, of Milford, beloved husband of Nikki Mayshar, passed away on February 12, 2026. Born July 23, 1950, in Windham, CT, he was the son of the late Frank and Margaret Mayshar.

Andy lived a life defined by curiosity, grit, and love. Diagnosed with diabetes at age five—when life expectancy was uncertain—he refused to let it define him. He met every challenge the same way: by learning, building, testing, and moving forward.

An entrepreneur in the truest sense, Andy didn’t just have ideas — he chased them. From his early days as a ham radio operator, to building boats as a kid, to experimenting with solar energy long before it was mainstream, and even earning a patent during his time at Bose Corporation, where he helped develop their first car stereo, he was always imagining what could be improved and figuring out how to make it real.

A graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he earned his degree in electrical engineering, Andy was a lifelong tinkerer—always taking apart, rebuilding, inventing, and refining. His workshop and endless inventory of tools reflected his constant need to build, fix, and create with purpose. While at WPI, Andy was a proud member of Alpha Tau Omega and rowed with the college’s rowing team, forming lifelong friendships grounded in teamwork and camaraderie.

Outside of work, Andy was a farmer at heart. The lake was his happy place, where he loved water skiing and teaching his children, passing on his sense of adventure. On the farm, he was happiest on his tractor with a grandchild beside him, finding satisfaction in hard work and simple moments shared.

More than the land or the lake, Andy’s greatest joy was his family. He was immensely proud of his children and their spouses and adored his four grandchildren. His beloved wife, Nikki—his partner in travel and in life—was the best part of him, and their bond anchored him through every season. Everything he built, explored, and dreamed was, at its core, an expression of his devotion to them.

His legacy lives not only in the work he advanced or the ideas he pursued, but in the steady love he gave, the courage he modeled, and the family who will carry his example forward.

Along with his beloved wife, Nikki, Andy is survived by his children, James Mayshar, Andrew (Susan) Mayshar, and Adrianne (Chris) Poole; his grandchildren, Nash, Ryan, Levi, and Logan; his mother in law, Mendelina Labata, his siblings, Jean (the late Richard) Mayshar-LaVecchia, Margaret Ellen (Steven) Mayshar-Kilberg; his brother in law, Newton Labata; and his nieces, nephews, as well as many cousins and extended family.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 12:30 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. Interment will be private.

We kindly ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Andy’s memory to support the mission of the Joslin Diabetes Center. Andy lived courageously with type 1 diabetes and was passionate about advancing care and research to improve the lives of others facing this disease. Gifts may be made online at www.joslin.org by selecting “Make a Donation” and choosing the option to dedicate your gift in honor or memory of a loved one, or by mailing a check payable to Joslin Diabetes Center (please note “In Memory of Andy Mayshar” in the memo line). When making your donation, please request that notification be sent to The Mayshar Family, 3 Highland Court, Milford, CT 06461. Your generosity will help continue the progress Andy cared so deeply about.

John Francis Meuser

John Francis Meuser, longtime resident of Milford & Fairfield, Connecticut, and beloved husband of the late Barbara Jane (Macy) Meuser, passed away on 2/18/26 at age 90. A devout Roman Catholic, John died secure in the belief that he would reunite with loved ones in heaven.

Born in Milford on December 19, 1935, the fifth of seven children of William and Ann (Corden) Meuser, John was forever proud of his Irish and German heritage, his deep roots in the Devon neighborhood of Milford, and the family homestead on Baker Street. He loved sharing stories of his youth spent playing baseball, swimming and bridge jumping as a “Devon River Rat”, delivering newspapers, and working various jobs to help the family make ends meet. One favorite was his time working for Mr. Eichner’s catering company. Another story was the loss of his fingertip in a rotating fan when fixing his car.

John met his wife, Barbara, on a blind date in 1958, they married in 1960, and enjoyed a close bond until her death in 2014. They had four children together (in birth order, with spouse): Tom Meuser (Christy), Maureen Rispoli (Bill), John Meuser (the late Elizabeth Fretz), and Sarah Meuser (Rob). John is also survived by his seven beloved grandchildren: Paul, Aaron, June, Zoe, Lillian, and Grandpa’s “little boys.” John made it a priority to stay in touch with valued friends, notably his many Devon buddies and 1954 classmates from Milford High School. John was a proud graduate of Quinnipiac College (now University) in 1959 with a degree in accounting, and where he proudly served as a Trustee for 25 years. He enjoyed a long and impactful career in finance and investment: 30 years with Pitney Bowes, Inc., a decade with Retirement Systems, Inc., and finally as a licensed financial advisor.

John’s life was marked by many special experiences, including two periods working and living in England – his family by his side – and the lifelong friends they made there, notably the late Royce and Marjorie Stratford and their daughter Hillary. Years later he encountered an “Angel” who gifted him words of faith and a metal of our Blessed Virgin Mother; the angel promptly disappearing before his eyes. Rooted in his faith, John was ever generous with his time and talents, giving freely through his many charitable affiliations, including The Knights of Columbus.

John was preceded in death by his sisters Ann, Maryellen and Joan, and brothers William, Joe, and Thomas. He accepted his role as the final “Devon Meuser” and stayed connected with the children and grandchildren of his siblings and other extended family (too many to name here). When asked how he would like to be remembered some years ago, John said “He persevered to help others in life. I think that’s a fair assessment. That’s what I’m doing even to this day. I love seeing others succeed.”

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Mary’s Church, (Precious Blood Parish) 70 Gulf Street, Milford, CT, at 10:30 am on Friday, February 27, 2026. All are welcome at this Mass. John will be laid to rest next to his loving wife, Barbara, in a private ceremony at Saint Mary’s Church Cemetery in Milford. In lieu of flowers, well wishers are encouraged to donate to the Knights of Columbus Milford Tinto Council 47.

Miriam Ramirez

Miriam Ramirez, 90, of Orange, beloved wife of the late Julio C. Ramirez, passed away on February 6, 2026. Born on February 20, 1935 in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Heriberto and Juanita Sambrana.

Miriam was a selfless and generous woman whose life was defined by love, faith, and sacrifice. From an early age, she placed the needs of others before her own, a pattern that would shape her entire life.

At just seventeen years old, Miriam moved with her mother and three younger siblings from Puerto Rico to the Bronx, NY, where she lovingly cared for her much younger brothers. This early responsibility revealed the heart she carried – one rooted in service, compassion, and unwavering devotion to family.

Miriam shared 43 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Julio, until his passing in 2001. Through her unwavering faith, love and example, Miriam led her husband to Christ in the early years of their marriage, which marked the significant spiritual turning point of their family. Miriam’s and Julio’s love was a true testament to commitment and faith. They renewed their vows on their 25th wedding anniversary and often sang duets together in church, praising God side by side.

A devoted and proud mother, Miriam believed motherhood was a sacred gift from God. She lived this belief daily, pouring herself into her children with tenderness, prayer, and guidance. Her faith was the foundation of her life. A true prayer warrior, she prayed every day for her family and all those in need in the community and around the world.

Miriam lived by the words of Jesus that she cherished deeply: “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” She and her children made it a mission to visit those in the community who were unseen or cast aside: the sick, the lonely, the elderly, the addicted, and anyone in need of comfort. Though she never sought wealth, what little money she had she often gave to missionaries serving in countries around the world. Her riches were never measured in money, but in love.

Miriam and Julio were founding members of the Ayer Church of God in Ayer, MA, which they faithfully attended for over 25 years, and brought all five of their children to every week. Without seeking recognition, Miriam would quietly clean the church every Saturday. Her service was humble, consistent, and done entirely for God’s glory. Upon moving to Connecticut, Miriam’s home church became Kingdom Life Christian Church in Milford, CT (pastored by her eldest son, Jay Ramirez), which she attended for nearly 25 years until her passing.

Throughout her life, Miriam faced multiple life-threatening illnesses, yet through God’s grace, she was healed time and again. She trusted God as her Healer, her Provider, and her Sustainer. Even in her final moments on earth, she remained trusting and filled with peace.

Miriam lived a life of service to her family and to God. Her legacy is one of faith, love, generosity, and quiet strength. She leaves behind a family forever shaped by her prayers, her sacrifices, and her boundless heart.

Her life was a sermon. Her love was her wealth. Her faith was her anchor. Her prayers were her power. Her faith was her legacy.

Miriam is survived by her children, Jay Ramirez (wife: Jeannine), Randolph Ramirez (wife: Erin), Vernadette Ramirez Broyles, Leticia Ramirez Hashem (husband: James), and Elijah Ramirez (wife: Maria Lucy); her grandchildren, Danielle Ngilio (husband: TJ), Tiffany Ramirez, Tara Gibson (husband: Drew), Alexander Ramirez, Jamie Ramirez Hashem, Caleb Broyles, Elicia Broyles, and Samuel Ramirez; her great granddaughter, Antonella Niglio; her siblings, Luis Flores (wife: Terri); and her sister-in-law, Deborah Flores. She is predeceased by her siblings, Eve Johnson and George Flores.

A funeral service will take place on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. at Kingdom Life Christian Church, 1455 Naugatuck Avenue, Milford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fight for Freedom at https://fightforfreedom.net/ or Child and Parental Rights Campaign at https://www.childparentrights.org/, charitable organizations run by her children. Dominick Reis, Jr.

Dominick Reis, Jr., 86, of West Haven, passed away peacefully at home with his family on February 27, 2026, after a brief illness. Dominick is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Alzira Pereira Reis; his five children: Dominick J. Reis (Geralyn) of Niantic, Deborah Cinicolo, John Reis and Michael Reis, all of West Haven, and Maria Reis-Greim (Thomas Kirby) of Phillipsburg, NJ; nine beloved grandchildren: Shannon Reis, Christopher Greim (Kalli), Michael Greim, Brittney Reis-Galich (Todd), Michael Cinicolo (Rehana), Alexander Cinicolo, Nicholas Reis, Rachel Cinicolo and Blythe Reis; and two great-grandchildren. Born June 17, 1939, in New Haven, CT, Dominick was the fifth and youngest child of Maria Simoes Reis and Dominick Reis, Sr. In addition to his parents, Dominick was predeceased by his siblings: Mary R. Crespo, Rose Mendes, Joseph Reis, Sr. (Gerrie), and Delores R. George.

Dominick grew up in West Haven and attended Eli Whitney Technical High School in New Haven, where he learned valuable trade skills that he used in his early career and which later became lifelong hobbies. He enjoyed spending some of his early summers in Portugal, his parents’ birthplace, and was proud of his Portuguese heritage. He first met his wife, Alzira, at her sister’s wedding, where he told one of his buddies, a mutual friend, that she was the woman he was going to marry. Just over a year later, they celebrated their wedding and began building their life together.

After working at the Armstrong Rubber Company in West Haven and several construction jobs, Dominick joined the West Haven Police Department in 1973, serving as patrolman until his retirement at the age of 62 in 2001. He was dedicated to his profession and made lasting friendships with a group of his fellow officers, some of whom he enjoyed meeting monthly for lunch, where they would share stories about their families and reminisce about their time on the Force.

Dominick was a skilled tradesman, leveraging the plumbing, electrical and construction skills he learned in high school to tackle numerous home improvement projects, including two complete bathrooms and a kitchen remodel. In addition, he often assisted friends and family with similar home improvements. He also built a camper with his brother Joe, which he would later use to support his outdoor hobbies. Dominick had impeccable attention to detail and could point out the smallest defect or flaw in craftmanship, which became a source of both irritation and laughter for his family.

An avid outdoorsman, Dominick enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing and enjoyed sharing these hobbies with family and friends. In support of this, he began raising beagle puppies, some of which he trained to hunt with him. His love for these sports led to the purchase of property in upstate New York, where he would later share time with his family vacationing, salmon fishing and skipping stones with his grandchildren on Lake Ontario.

Dominick had a mischievousness about him and enjoyed playing practical jokes on his family and friends. He often shared stories of the pranks he would play on his mother and other adventures growing up and liked to tease his wife and family, always trying to get a rise out of them.

Dominick adored his grandchildren and was present in their lives, attending countless sporting events, dance recitals, and competitions, and supporting each of them in both their academic and extracurricular pursuits. He proudly attended each of their graduations and often gently boasted of their individual accomplishments. His oldest granddaughter began lovingly calling him “Poppo” at an early age, a name that became a term of endearment that all his children, grandchildren and their friends would use. He reveled in the attention he received from them, so much so that his Connecticut vanity license plate also read, “Poppo.”

Arrangements have been entrusted to the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, 662 Savin Avenue, West Haven. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 6th, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church, 300 Captain Thomas Boulevard, West Haven, on Saturday, March 7th.
