In loving memory of Joan Inell (Coles) Brockenberry born October 14, 1935, who peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, September 14, 2018.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Gateway Christian Fellowship Church, 129 Bull Hill Lane, West Haven, CT 06516 followed by a burial service at King’s Highway Cemetery in Milford, CT.
Mrs. Brockenberry was a longtime citizen of Milford CT. She graduated from Milford High School in 1953 and briefly attended Southern Connecticut State University. For most of her life she was employed at Bic Pen where she worked as an Inspector. After her retirement she very much enjoyed working at Filenes and East Shore Daycare Center.
She is predeceased by her parents Reverend Raymond Fairfield Coles, S.TB. D.D. and Olive May Coles and her loving sisters and brothers, Margaret Samuels, Raymond Coles, Evelyn Cortes, Thomas Coles, Donald Coles, Marion Rice, Calvin Coles, Doris Ray and Barbara Cody.
She was a loving mother to Laurel Johnson (deceased), Linda Spruill-Gaither (CT), Rachel Dawkins (VA), Joanne Jeffries (NC), Janet Brockenberry (VA), Katherine Baker (VA), Barbara Brockenberry (VA), William Brockenberry (CT) and Tracy Brockenberry- Roberts (VA) and loving grandmother to 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She loved the Lord and through His grace and mercy shared that love with her family and friends. She will be missed!

Lena Carson, age 91, of Milford, beloved wife of Wayne H. Carson for 65 years, passed away on Wednesday, September 26th, 2018 surrounded by her family. Lena was born in Bridgeport on April 20, 1927 to the late Enrique and Maria Mendes Alves. She worked at Jonathan Law High School for over 24 years as the Cafeteria Manager. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two children, Richard Carson of Milford and David Carson (Jeannie) of Clinton, and one granddaughter Katie Jean Carson of Moodus. Dlugos, Mary A.
Mary A. Dlugos, age 99, of Milford, passed away on Sept. 29, 2018 at Branford Hills Health Care Center. She was born on Oct. 10, 1918 in Milford and the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Voitko) Dlugos. Mary worked as a secretary for her entire career at General Electric. She enjoyed her long daily walks through her neighborhood and was an avid gardener. She loved playing Scrabble, sewed her own clothes and enjoyed crocheting. Mary is survived by her brother, Raymond Dlugos of Secane, PA and her sister, Damien Marie Dlugos I.H.M. of Scranton, PA and many dear nieces and nephews. France, Henry G.
Henry Gardner France, 97, of Milford passed away in his home on September 26, 2018. He was born on March 23, 1921 in Portland, CT, son of the late Bertram and Katherine France. He was happily married for 69 years to the late Mildred LeDoux France. Henry proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard LST 478 during WWII. In his career, he was employed as an electrical engineer for such companies as General Electric, Avco and Valve Corporation of America. He also worked at Yale University in the Radio Astronomy Dept. Henry will be remembered as an accomplished artist for his paintings of seascapes and local scenes which were displayed in a number of locations over the years. An active member of the community, he belonged to the Milford Arts Council for many years, where he helped design and build the prototype for “the submarine art” exhibition in downtown Milford in 1996. He also was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Milford and the Milford Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans and participated in many of their services and fundraising activities. But most of all Henry enjoyed spending time with his family especially visits with the “kids” – the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Henry will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his devoted children Leslie Donnelly, Stuart (Shari) France, and Phillip (Claire) France, his grandchildren Kevin, Kerry, Melissa, Jacob, Tara, Phillip, and Patrick, his great-grandchildren Nathan, Jillian, Ryan, Alex, Jamie, and Frederick. A service in celebration of Henry’s life will be held Sat. Oct. 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the United Presbyterian Church located at 109 Seaside Avenue Milford, CT. Giordano, Pacific
Pacific “Pat” “Butch” Thomas Giordano, age 75, of Orange passed away on October 4, 2018. He was the loving husband of Maria Rispoli Giordano. Pat was born in New Haven, son of the late Anthony and Beatrice DeSantis Giordano. He is also survived by his son Pacific Thomas (Daniela) Giordano of Branford, his grandsons Jake and Kai Giordano and his sister Kathleen Moyer of FL. Butch was educated in West Haven, he attended Fairfield University and UCONN Law School. He was the former owner of Giordano Monuments. He was active with Orange Rotary, Orange Water Pollution, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former coach with Orange Little League and Cub Scouts Leader. He also sponsored West Haven Little League for many years.

Hill, Sr., John
John Hill, Sr., 88, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Sarah Hill, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2018. Born on March 20, 1930 in Sugar Notch, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Zaieski Hill.
John was raised in Mt. Carmel, PA where he graduated from high school. In 1951, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. John proudly served his country in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. He went on to work for Sikorsky Aircraft where he retired after 36 years. Mr. Hill and his wife travelled to all 50 states, as well as visiting Europe, Africa, and South America. He was a parishioner of St. Ann Church (St. Raphael Parish) in Milford and was an active member of the Milford Senior Center. He enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino, bowling, gardening, and singing.
John is survived by his eldest son, John Hill, Jr. and his wife Rita; his grandsons, Joshua and Tyler Hill; and his six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his youngest son, Richard Hill, and his sister, Hellen Humphries.

Franseca Hull, 77, of Orange, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018. She was born in Brownhill, Nevis on January 3, 1941 to the late Albertha Skeete. She retired from Sargent Manufacturing as an inspector after 40 years of service. Franseca leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Michael (Veronica) Herbert, Charles Hull, Jr., Steve (Sherri) Abbott, Steve Bradshaw, Ricky (Joanne) Mills, and Kasimo Hull; daughters, Annette Herbert, Bernice Williams, Bodecier Liburd, Andrea Smith, Celisia Hull, and Vanda Skeete; brothers, Ruel Herbert and Rafael Herbert; sisters, Claudina Martin, Angela Herbert, Pearlina Skeete, Carmen Herbert, and Daisy Herbert; niece, Gillian Redeaux; and a host of relatives and friends. Kane, Sr., Arthur
Arthur Brandon Kane, Sr., 98, of Orange, beloved husband of 62 years to the late Elizabeth Henault Kane, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2018. Born on June 25, 1920 in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late John and Ethel Kane.
Arthur proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941-1945 in the Caribbean. He was president of GAIU, a founder of the Milford Junior Major Baseball League, and a member of both the VFW Post 127 in Orange and the Blind Veteran Association. Arthur was a passionate fan of the Red Sox, UCONN Women’s basketball, and the Patriots and enjoyed horse racing as well. Arthur had a wonderful sense of humor that will always be remembered by his family and friends. He had a zest for life and lived every day to the fullest. He was the patriarch of his family and loved every moment spent with them.
Arthur is survived by his children, Kelly (Susan) Kane and Deborah (Paul) Kane Hoffman; son-in-law, Ken Sommers; grandchildren, Bryan (Shannon) Kane, Sr., Ryan Kane, Colin, Dillon, and Brendan Kane, Peter (Kim) Hoffman, Kelly (Jerry) Parks, Kimberly (Matthew) Collibee, Derek (Lisette) Hoffman, Steve (Casey), David (Lisa), and Christopher (Kristina) Sommers; nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. He was predeceased by his children, Arthur “Tex” Kane, Jr., Lorraine Kane Sommers and Patricia Candace Kane; four brothers; and five sisters. He also leaves behind his cherished friend, Marilyn Forselius. A special recognition to Linda Kane for her love and devotion to Arthur. Nancy Moffitt King of Orange, 87, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Attorney Jackson T. King. She is survived by her children, Attorney Susan King Shaw (David) of Woodbridge, Karen F. King of Vermont, Alison King Haley (Pierce) of Boston, MA, and Thomas J. King (Claudia) of Orange. She is also survived by her sister, Marjorie Streckfus of Bridgeport, her six grandchildren, Emily and Jackson Shaw, Pierce Jackson and Saunders Haley, and Colton and Kaela King, as well many nieces and nephews. Nancy was born in Bridgeport on February 14, 1931, to the late William H. Moffitt, III and Helen Saunders Moffitt and grew up in Fairfield. She was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School and St. Joseph’s College, and received her master’s degree in education from Columbia University. Prior to her marriage, Nancy worked as a registered nurse and public health nurse administrator for the VNA in the greater Hartford area. After her marriage, she devoted her life to her family, children and grandchildren, and was widely known for her kindness, compassion and service. Nancy was an active member of Holy Infant Parish, and served as a lector in her later years. Her great faith and unconditional love for others were an example and inspiration to all who knew her. Joseph F. (Junior) Latella Jr. 82, of Orange passed away on September 29, 2018 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family and friends. Husband of Deborah Lockwood of Stratrford. Loving father of Lisa (Gary) Hoefling of Orange and the late Joseph (Joey) C. Latella Sr. Also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, his dear friend and caregiver, Monique (Mona) Johnson and his best friend, Joey Consiglio. Brother of Peter Latella Sr, George, Mark and Michael Berube and Mary Anne Epley, Rosemary Gombar and Georgette Pacheco. Junior was predeceased by his former wife Marie Palmieri Latella Amendola. Junior was born in New Haven on June 24, 1936 son of the late Joseph F. and Anna Funk Latella Berube. Prior to his retirement Junior was the owner of Joseph F. Latella & Sons and Latella Carting. Maglione, Margaret Mary
Margaret Mary Maglione, 95, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Francis Maglione, Sr., passed away peacefully at home on September 26, 2018. Born on September 25, 1923 in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Helen Mihal Meady.
During World War II Marge worked at the Brass Shop in Bridgeport where she put holes in bullets. Later, she had a few jobs working at the candy counter at the old Kresge’s in Bridgeport and then at the candy counter at Grants in the Connecticut Post Mall in Milford. The tradition of the candy counter remained in her home with a shelf of a variety of candies in jars. Family and friends would help themselves to these treats which gave her joy.
Marge was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to cook and bake and always made big Sunday and holiday dinners for her family. Marge enjoyed making ceramics. She made an entire ceramic village which she proudly displayed under her Christmas tree. She liked playing bingo and her trips to the casino. She loved animals and theyloved her. She had an array of pets from dogs, rabbits, chickens, stray cats, and even a duck. Even a sparrow would fly and land on her shoulder when she went in her backyard.
She was a devoted mother to her son. She loved participating in her grandson’s lives from babysitting, parties, ballgames, and vacations. She was always happy. We are going to miss her laughter.
Margaret is survived by her son, Francis (Sally) Maglione, Jr.; her grandchildren, Frank (Jackie) Maglione and Steven Maglione; her great-granddaughter, Vaida Maglione; her niece, Patricia Napierkowski; and her grand-dog, Max.

Martinsky, Frank
Frank Martinsky, of Milford, beloved husband of Terry, passed away on September 28, 2018 surrounded by his family & friends.
During his lifetime, Frank had many passions. He was an avid sportsman, excelling at duckpin bowling, competitive skeet shooting, league softball, fishing and billiards. Frank was a devoted Yankee fan. He was a knowledgeable numismatist, relished a challenging chess game and always looked forward to his weekly card games with lifelong best friends – Howie, Tom & Jerry.
Frank loved Rock ‘n’ Roll. Several times, by invitation, he danced on Alan Freed’s TV show. Frank had the moves! He had great memories of attending Woodstock, enjoying concerts at Fillmore East and Newport Jazz festivals. Frank loved riding motorcycles, especially his ’67 Triumph.
Frank was a member of the S. S. Norden Club and Fairfield County Fish & Game. He was instrumental in the resurrection of his neighborhood beach association. Frank loved taking long walks on the beach, rain or shine.
A celebration of Frank’s life will take place on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Interment will follow at King’s Highway Cemetery, Milford.

Lucille Ann Novella, of Orange, passed away peacefully September 24, 2018 in Yale New Haven Hospital- St. Raphael Campus. She is the beloved wife of 63 years of Michael Novella. Born in Wallingford, CT May 17, 1933, daughter of the late William and Angelina Riccitelli Mazzucco, Lucille worked for the City of New Haven Public School in food service for many years. She loved trips to “the Indians,” but cooking and spending time with her family was most important. She is the mother of Lorraine Novella and Donna (Thomas) Semenza. Proud and loving grandmother of Nicholas and Briana Semenza. Sister of the late Gloria Iadarola and the late William Mazzucco Jr. Sister-in-law of Dolores Mazzucco and Ronald Iadarola.

Blanche DiNello Porto 87, of Wellington, FL formerly of Orange beloved wife of the late Ralph R. Porto passed away on September 23, 2018 in Royal Palm Manor. Loving mother of David (Marianne) Porto of Wellington, FL and Kenneth (Tracy) Porto of Woodstock, GA. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Sister of Julia Mastrangelo and Rosemarie Celentano both of Orange, Mary Baiocchi of North Haven, Gina Oliano of Long Beach Island, NJ Angelo DiNello of West Haven and the late Marge Brunetti, Emma Lembo and Carl, Pat, Joseph and Nicholas DiNello. Blanche was born in New Haven on July 30, 1931 daughter of the late Pasquale and Margaret Palmieri DiNello. Prior to her retirement Blanche was a seamstress for Yale Furniture.

Rapuano, Louis J.
Louis J. Rapuano, of Orange, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on September 21, 2018 in Yale New Haven Hospital – St. Raphael Campus. He was the beloved husband of Carol Huber Rapuano. Born in West Haven, CT February 18, 1932, son of the late Anthony and Etta Trotta Rapuano, Louis graduated from The Hopkins School and The Gunnery, he attended Rochester Polytechnic Institute, and the University of Bridgeport. He was a mechanical and electrical engineer, working for Robertshaw-Fulton, the Farrell Corporation, and retiring from Satin American. While at Robertshaw-Fulton, Louis was a member of its Manager’s club. He was a parishioner of Holy Infant Church and a former member of the Legion of Mary. He was the father of Louis Rapuano, Susan Fernandes and Tina (John) Giuliano, proud grandfather of Lauryn and Laci Giuliano, all of Orange. Brother of Carolyn Cavallaro and Leonard Rapuano. Uncle of Alicia, Andrée, David, Leslie and Anthony.

Riso, Eunice
Eunice Riso was born on February 16, 1932, in Milford, CT, to Thomas and Mildred Riso. Eunice graduated with the Class of 1950, from Milford High School, and then attended the University of Connecticut majoring in Physical Education. Eunice’s career and devotion to community service began in her hometown when she was 16, where she organized recreational services for women. Eunice moved to Visalia, CA, where she was the mainstay of leisure and community services where she developed the senior citizen program; developed programs for persons with disabilities; expanded multi-cultural programs and services; directed the design and construction of a senior center; was an active participant with the community to design community swimming pools and courts; was active in the expansion of the Visalia Convention Center; developed a volunteer service program; and developed numerous city parks. She was instrumental in developing programs to help the handicapped community, served on the Visalia Emergency Aid Council, and the Visalia Creative Arts Center for the Handicapped Board of Directors. Eunice was a charter member in the formation of the Tulare County Commission on the Status of Women which founded the first shelter for victims of domestic violence. Her other volunteer work also included working with the Girl Scouts, and serving on the YMCA board. Eunice was certified by the California Board of Park & Recreation profession, served as District President, and was a State Representative to the national board; Soroptimist International of Visalia, President; Amateur Softball Association, National Commissioner; and the California Association for Retarded Children. She received many awards over the years for her participation and contribution to the advancement of women. She received the Soroptimist Visalia and regional “Women Helping Women Award “and was the Visalia Chamber of Commerce “Woman of the Year in 1983”. Eunice was named to “Who’s Who of American Women” in 1980. She was preceded in death by her best friend and traveling companion, Geraldine Murphy. Eunice is survived by her brothers, Tom and wife Diane, and Bruce and wife Barbara; sister, Lois and husband Henry; and her nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 26 at 11 a.m. at Kings Highway Cemetery in Milford, CT. A reception for family and friends will immediately follow in Milford. Owner of Collins Flower Shoppe with his wife, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Madeline (Sam) Rink Schoenster, his dedicated children Michael Schoenster and his wife Ann, daughter Danette Contaras and her husband Daniel, all of Milford, his brother Robert Schoenster and his wife Doy, grandchildren Alyson, Michael Jr., Christopher, and D.J, five great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Marge Schoenster many nieces and nephews and longtime friends especially his pal Mary Daher. Allen will be remembered for his love of fishing, hunting and being a “Life Member” of the Milford Elks. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother John Schoenster and dear friends Ted Hoffman and Roger McNeil. Per Allen’s wishes Michael and Danette will be hosting “Dad’s Happy Hour” in his honor on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm in the Milford Elks’ Hall, 124 New Haven Ave., Milford. Volgmuth, Lorraine
Lorraine P. Volgmuth, 76, of Milford, CT, beloved wife of Robert W. Volgmuth, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Born on September 4, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mildred Kern Knablein of Milford, CT.
At the age of nine, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and was a 67 year survivor. She was a fighter and an inspiration to us all. She graduated Laurelton Hall in 1960. She worked at Subway World Headquarters for several years and became an active member of the Milford Senior Center. She was always willing to help others in any way she could.
She leaves behind the love of her life, Robert W. Volgmuth of 54 years; her two daughters, Christine and Tara; her aunt, Margaret Knablein; plus several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Mary Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church, 176 Broad St., Milford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 200 Connecticut Ave., Suite 4E, Norwalk, CT 06854. Warner, Bridget M.
Bridget M. Warner, age 75, of Milford, beloved wife of Lawrence E. Warner Jr. for 52 years, died on September 26th, 2018 surrounded by her family. Bridget was born in Londonderry, Northern Ireland on February 10, 1943 to the late James and Mary Ann Heslin McDermott.
She was a giver and a doer.. helping friends and family in so many ways, planting bulbs, helping with housework, keeping them company. She volunteered at Milford Hospital for over 40 years. Bridget shared her love of life with everyone.
She loved her family and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was active in their lives attending events regardless of the weather!
Bridget loved to have fun..known for dressing up in silly outfits for Halloween, playing cards with her friends, enjoying Bible study and going camping with her husband Larry and their camping buddies.
She was a resourceful woman who worked hard her whole life, loved her Irish heritage, and always had a smile on her face.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two children, Sharon Warner of West Haven and Kelly Dempsey of Milford, grandchildren; Sarah and Max Dempsey, five sisters: Florence Kokoruda of Stratford, Gina Moran of Florida, Tracey O’Donnell of South Carolina, Margaret Bircher of England and Marcrena Mooney of Northern Ireland and several nieces and nephews. Bridget is predeceased by her three brothers and one sister.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday October 8th at 9:30 am in Saint Mary Church, Milford followed by interment in Milford Cemetery. The Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Brian Richard Zikaras, 63, of Milford, beloved husband of Charlene Vogler Zikaras, and loving father to Kurt Zikaras and his fiancée, Samantha Gigante, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 20, 2018. Brian was born on June 26, 1955 in Bridgeport, CT to Frances Zikaras and the late John J. Zikaras.
