Betty Jean Mounsey, age 84, of Old Saybrook formerly of Orange, passed away in Middlesex Hospital on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015. She was born on Oct. 25, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Walter and Sally Long Bassett.

Before retiring, she was employed in the clerical department of Milford Rivet. An active member of the community, she was a member of Christian Women’s Club and the River Valley Baptist Church in Ansonia. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her dedicated daughter, Deborah Shaw, and her husband Gregory Shaw of Old Saybrook, sister, Sally Lou Elko and her husband Joseph of Alhambra, CA.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, William L. Mounsey.
