Panel To Discuss Politics In The Pulpit

A group of local interfaith leaders will hold a panel discussion about whether politics belong in the pulpit on Sunday, Oct. 19 in Orange.

The event, hosted by the Congregations of Orange Collaborative, will include Rabbi Lindsey Healey-Pollack of Congregation Or Shalom in Orange; Father Peter Orfanakos of St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Orange; Rev. James Simpson of Orange Congregational Church in Orange; Rev. Mother Cheryl Smith of St. Joseph of Arimathea American Catholic Church in Orange; Deacon John Hoffman of St. Mary Catholic Church in Milford; and Imam Endrit Himaj of the Albanian American Muslim Community in Waterbury.

Rabbi Emeritus Alvin Wainhaus of Congregation Or Shalom will serve as moderator for the discussion.

The event runs from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd building at St. Joseph of Arimathea, located at 680 Racebrook Rd. The event is free and open to the public. There will be refreshments afterward, and donations non-perishable donations will be collected for the Orange Community Services Food Bank.
