The Wellspring Community Center of Milford will host a prayer vigil at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24 for the victims of the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. The vigil will be held on the steps of the Milford City Hall at 110 River St. Members of the Wellspring Community Center encourage all to join in the vigil ceremony as well as in supporting their initiatives to collect supplies and donate to aid programs at embracerelief.org/donation/help-victims-of-earthquake-in-southern-turkey.
“I am so proud of Omer, and the entire Wellspring Community Center team, as they provide necessary resources for communities in Milford, our state, and even abroad through their exemplary leadership,” state Rep. Kathy Kennedy (R-119) said. “Following the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, their desire for collecting aid and supplies was met with overwhelming assistance from neighboring towns, demonstrating their incredible community influence and example. I am grateful for Wellspring’s influence in my hometown and I encourage my colleagues and fellow residents to join in supporting their tremendous initiative and vigil service.”
“I’m inspired by our community’s ability to band together in service of those in need,” said state Rep. Charles Ferraro (R-117). “The sacrifices of the Wellspring Community Center symbolize their selflessness and dedication to giving back. I hope that you and your families will join us this week for a vigil in honor of the victims of recent earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.”
