ORANGE, CT – Every year, fourth grade students at Orange’s Race Brook Elementary spend a day in the life of a travel agent. Students organize themselves into groups and choose towns around Connecticut that they want to research. Senator Gayle Slossberg had the chance to see this year’s final project, as the dozens of student travel agents told her about the towns they researched and made a pitch for her to visit them.

“You don’t have to look outside of Connecticut if you’re looking for a great vacation destination, and no one knows that better than these bright young students at Race Brook Elementary School,” said Senator Slossberg.
“I always appreciate the opportunity to visit young students and see what they are working on. These Yankee Doodle Travel Agency projects are a great example of exemplary teaching. Students work on these projects throughout the year, improving their research skills, presentation skills, and persuasive writing. Race Brook School’s teachers should be commended for this unique and fun way to teach so many important skills. I was particularly impressed with the research the students had done, and the quality of their presentations, from their catchy slogans to their handmade travel agency attire. The teachers and students at Race Brook Elementary School should be proud of their great work.”
