Singer-Songwriter To Weave Tales From Connecticut

Singer-songwriter Kent Besocke will deliver a performance titled “Tunes and Tales from Connecticut” on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Case Memorial Library. The musical program weaves together the state’s rich tapestry of history, folklore and legend.

Besocke engages his audience with stories and songs that explore the lives of intriguing characters, significant historical events, unexplained phenomena and the myths that have shaped Connecticut’s identity.

He also delves into the story beneath the story: it matters not whether the tale is of a renowned hero or an all-but-forgotten figure, whether it is a verifiable eerie encounter or merely a whispered legend, whether it is a well-known place or one no longer remembered by history.

The musical instruments Besocke plays are as varied as his stories and songs; thus, each different instrument reflects the different moods of his narratives: the acoustic guitar, the five-string banjo and the mandolin each add to the atmosphere created.

Explore Connecticut through the lens of song and storytelling. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Register at casememoriallibrary.org or call 203-891-2170.
