Slossberg gave Milford’s veterans a flag that has flown over the State Capitol building in Hartford, and was made in the United States. The Fowler Memorial Building is a historic landmark that has been dedicated to veterans and hosts a number of Milford’s local veterans groups.
“Flag day is an occasion for us to show our respect for the flag of the United States of America, which is a symbol around the world of freedom and liberty,” said Senator Slossberg. “We must also honor those who defended the flag and put their own safety at risk to protect ours. It was an honor to spend this time with the Veterans at Milford’s Fowler Memorial Building and dedicate this flag to them.”
In 1949, Congress established June 14th as Flag Day in the United States. Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on June 14, 1777. This year marks the 239th anniversary of the adoption of the flag.
