A former town resident will be in court next month facing two counts of first-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor. Charles Whiting was charged last June. He has since moved to South Carolina. He is due in Milford Superior Court Sept. 26.{{more}}
Assistant Police Chief Anthony Cuozzo said the charges were filed against Whiting following a “compelling investigation.”
“There was probable cause for the arrest,” Cuozzo said.
Cuozzo said anyone who might feel they may have been victimized are urged to contact the department.
“If someone out there thinks they are a victim I urge them to come forward and contact Sgt. John Aquino at 203-891-2138.
However, Cuozzo said, if the crime occurred in a town other than Orange the victim will have to contact that police department.
Cuozzo said in addition to being able to file criminal charges against someone the department also provides victim advocacy.
“Often (with these types of charges) there is emotional scaring. As part of our services we help them get the necessary services,” Cuozzo said.
