State Rep. Charles Ferraro accepted the unanimous GOP nomination to run for his fourth term to represent the 117th House District.
“I want to thank the residents of the 117th District for their support and friendship. Over the past three terms, I have fought for common-sense policies to fix Connecticut’s broken economy and have been able to prevent policies from being passed that would have hurt the hard-working residents of Milford, Orange, and West Haven,” Ferraro said.
“Imagine if we had 82 tolls throughout our state, imagine if the grocery tax was fully implemented, and imagine if teacher pensions were shifted onto municipalities – these policies would have significantly hurt taxpayers and would have sent local property taxes skyrocketing,” Ferraro continued. “The good news is we were able to stop these policies, and as your state representative you know that I will never back down and I will never stop fighting for you.”
As the Republican leader of the Energy and Technology Committee, Ferraro championed offshore wind energy legislation. He also backed legislation to expand workers’ compensation benefits to police officers, firefighters and certain medical responders who suffer from PTSD. He spoke in favor of the purchase of Milford Hospital by Bridgeport Hospital/Yale-New Haven Health Systems.
Ferraro said lawmakers next session need to focus on updating and modernizing state government to ensure that the state is better prepared for an epidemic.
Ferraro lives in West Haven with his wife Geralyn and is the founder and owner of the West Haven Academy of Karate.
