With April being Financial Literacy Month, state Rep. Kathy Kennedy (R-119), along with State Farm Insurance representative Wanda Carlson, will be hosting on Thursday, April 21 a financial foundations workshop focused on bringing more awareness to financial education in schools and for adults.
Kennedy is hoping that it will spark great discussions in peoples’ homes about saving, spending, budgeting, giving and other personal finance-related topics.
“It’s one of the most important life skills you can learn. Everyone should know how to open a bank account and balance a checkbook,” said Kennedy, a member of the legislature’s Education Committee who supports adding financial literacy curriculum for students statewide.
