Democratic state Senate candidate James Maroney and state Representative candidate Cindy Wolfe Boynton will host an open forum for veterans and their families Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. in the West Haven City Hall Harriet North Room on the second floor.
After a short presentation by Maroney and Boynton, audience members will be invited to ask questions and share concerns about issues related to veterans and their families.
Maroney is running in the 14th Senate district, which includes Milford, Orange, parts of West Haven and parts of Woodbridge. Boynton is running in the 117th district, which includes parts of Milford, Orange and West Haven.
“With a dad who was in World War II, a grandfather who was in World War I, a father-in-law who was in the Korean War, and a cousin who was in Vietnam, veterans’ issues are extremely important to me,” Boynton said. “Serving in World War II really defined my father’s life. I grew up hearing stories about his years on the USS Missouri, as well as attending veterans’ events and learning, firsthand, about the many challenges service members and veterans face. Supporting and empowering our veterans to ensure their physical health, mental health and workplace success – such as looking for ways to connect veterans’ unique skills with those needed in fast-growing industries – is the right thing to do for them, their families, and for Connecticut overall.”

That is why veterans’ issues are of the utmost importance. Veterans have earned our respect, and I value their opinions and want to know what the state can do for them. Their living example of service to others is something that should be emulated by all Connecticut residents.”
