Former President Barack Obama announced his endorsement of fellow Democrat James Maroney in the race for state Senate in the 14th district, which is comprised of all of Milford and Orange and parts of West Haven and Woodbridge. The election is Nov. 6.
“As a former state senator himself, President Obama recognizes the importance of electing strong leaders at the state level,” Maroney said. “It is quite an honor to receive the president’s endorsement and know that he believes in our campaign and our fight for a world class education, a responsible state budget and in helping the middle class to succeed and flourish. This distinction will only fuel our fire to win and give the people of Milford, Orange, West Haven and Woodbridge the representation they deserve.”
“With over 6,000 races on the ballot this year, we are excited to join forces with President Obama to highlight the amazing men and women like James Maroney running in must-watch races for their state legislatures,” said Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee Executive Director Jessica Post. “We stand united and will do everything we can to elect candidates like James Maroney who will stand up for democratic values and work to move our nation forward.”
Maroney is a lifelong resident of Milford and a graduate of Jonathan Law High School. He earned his economics degree from Yale University and owns a small business. He and his wife, Jennifer Ju, are raising their son Jay in Milford.
