Klarides Placed On Teacher Association Honor Roll

State Rep. Themis Klarides’s voting recorded in Hartford put her on the Connecticut Education Association’s Honor Roll list.

The CEA’s 43,000 active and retired teachers informed Klarides last week that she received an Honor Roll designation from the organization for her work throughout the 2017-2018 legislative sessions.

CEA President Jeff Leake said in his letter to Klarides, “You have proven yourself to be an advocate for students, teachers, and public education.” He added, “Your constituents and teachers throughout the state are fortunate to have you working for them in the General Assembly.”

“Active and retired teachers have my full support,” said Klarides. “During these tough state budget times, I made it a priority to protect education funding, fund teachers’ retirements, and stop Governor Dan Malloy’s plan to shift teachers’ pensions onto cities and towns. We need to make sure teachers have the necessary tools to educate our next generation and have the confidence in state government that when they retire their pensions will be there and fully funded.”
