The Eye Care Group will take over just under 10,000 sq. ft. of the roughly 19,000 sq. ft. building.
The plan is to turn the largely warehouse-like space into a functional ophthalmology office with rooms for exams, storage, and staff needs. Dr. Joel Geffin, of The Eye Care Group, estimated it will take several months but would be done in the first quarter of 2017.
Once up and running, there will be as many as four doctors as well as support staff in the facility throughout the work week.
The Eye Care Group chose the Orange location because they were looking for something more patient friendly than the New Haven high-rise building they are currently in.
“Patients do not like coming into New Haven,” Geffin said. “They don’t like dealing with the traffic or the expense of parking.”
Goldblum said he would like to get another physician group or offices for the remainder of the building.
The Eye Care Group has four locations in Waterbury, New Haven, Branford and Southbury.
