Baker, Rose Mary
Rose Mary Baker, 82, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Donald T. Baker, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2021. Rose Mary was born on April 16, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Mary and Joseph Prevedel. Rose Mary will be missed by all. Her strong, independent will and kind giving heart will continue on through her daughter Mary.
Rose Mary enjoyed curating her family history, collecting purses in all shapes, colors and sizes, bingo, spending time with friends, and selflessly helping those in need.
Rose is survived by her beloved daughter, Mary Anderson (Baker); stepchildren, Cathy Mieth of Naugatuck, CT, Debra Tasmasebi of Glencove, NY, Jeffery Baker of New York and Melody Guariglia of New Hampshire as well as several grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents, Rose Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Ernesto and Joseph Prevedel.

Barton, Laura Marie
Laura Marie Barton, 42 of Milford died peacefully on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with her loving family by her side. Laura was born in Milford on September 11, 1978, a daughter of Larua Barton Smith of West Haven and Wallace Barton of Florida. She was a lifelong Milford resident. Laura received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Bridgeport, and worked at Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Hospital of St. Raphael (now YNHH, St. Raphael Campus) for six years. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her step-father Richard Smith of West Haven, her daughter Hailey Roberts of Hartford, her sister Tracey Ann Barton of West Haven, her brother Wallace (Stephanie) Barton of Florida, her granddaughter Gina Marie Barton, and her life partner Jeremy Stgermain of Milford. Laura’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, September 4th from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave, North Haven. Beck, Kevin M.
Kevin M. Beck, age 63, of Milford, entered peaceful rest on September 11, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the son of the late Albert Beck Sr. and Eleanor Beck (Varay), and was born on March 27, 1958 in Bridgeport. After receiving his associates degree at Norwalk Technical College, Kevin worked as a mechanical engineer for Lotaga and Farrell Corp. Kevin was an avid golfer and enjoyed live music including the local band, The Rumrunners. Kevin is pre-deceased by his brothers, Paul and Albert. He is survived by his son, Alexander M. Benjamin, Alfred E.
Alfred E. Benjamin, 81, of Milford, beloved husband of Mary Ann (Barnick) Benjamin passed away on September 10, 2021. Alfred was born in Milford, Ct on November 24, 1939 to the late Forrest and Olive Benjamin.
Alfred was a very talented professional and spent his life honing his skills as a Master Carpenter. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ Congregational in Milford. Alfred was an avid car collector and loved everything Packard. He was a history buff and was a member of the Milford Historical Society, he spent his spare time at local flea markets looking for antiques, tools and car parts. Alfred was also a dedicated Shriner and enjoyed entertaining at parades with the little wheels.
Alfred was a loving husband, father and grandfather and leaves behind his wife, Mary Ann; his three children, John, Judy and Ann Marie Benjamin; and one grandchild, Norah Kravet. He also leaves his sisters, Clara Belle Cukale and Carol Arpino; and many nieces and nephews and a large extended family. Alfred was preceded in death by his mother and father and three brothers Deforest, Clinton and Herbert Benjamin.
A Graveside Service will be celebrated on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 10 am at Milford Cemetery, 35 Gulf St., Milford, Ct. A Memorial Service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Alfred’s name.
Cable, Allen E.
Allen E. Cable, Sr. 93, of Milford, passed away on August 30, 2021. Born on April 22, 1928 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Walter and Ida (Allen) Cable.
Allen proudly served his country in the United States Army 82nd Airborne during WWII. He graduated from Yale University in 1952 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and then obtained a Master’s Degree from Wesleyan University. Allen retired from the State of CT’s Norwalk Community College after working for over 30 years as a Professor of Mathematics.
Allen had a penchant for mechanical devices at an early age, often tinkering at his cousin’s garage and boat yard after school and completion of his newspaper route. Eventually this led to a love of automobiles that he coveted the rest of his life. In later years he joined the Bonnet and Boot sports car club and enjoyed racing in local gymkhana style courses with his home tuned antique metropolitan. Allen was a lifelong resident of Milford. Spent his retirement years enjoying time with his family and holiday get togethers.
Allen is survived by his children, Allen (Gail) Cable Jr. and Ann Cable; his grandchildren, Christine (Sean) Dion, Joeline Carangelo, and Angela Cable; his great-grandchildren, Gabriella, and Aubrey Dion; his sister, Barbara (Mike) Luffred; and several nieces and nephews. Allen was predeceased by his brother, Raymond.

Cammarano, John
John Cammarano, age 99, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Naomia Benway Cammarano, died on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. John was born in New Haven on March 6, 1922, to the late Michael and Myrtle McGraw Cammarano. He was a proud veteran of the US Army and served during WWII. He worked at the United States Postal Service for over 27 years and was an active parishioner of St Ann Church in Milford. He was a volunteer at Sunset Shores Adult Care for over 10 years. John was a dedicated NY Yankees fan and enjoyed going to Yankee Stadium. For many years you could find John at Silver Sands Beach, as the owner of Mickey’s Boats and Bait, where he proudly enjoyed being a part of the Milford Community.
Survivors include his children: Valerie Urban (Anthony) of Milford and Paula Daisey (Craig) of SC, seven grandchildren, Danielle Cammarano, Steven Patchell (Heather), Timothy Patchell (Christina), Joseph Urban (Jodi), Lindsay (Vinny) Tomlinson, Kelley (Nick) Castler and Jason Daisey (Christina), seven great-grandchildren and extended family, William, and Kathleen Terry. John is predeceased by his son, Robert Cammarano, brothers; Raymond, Michael and James Cammarano and sisters, Carol and Rosemary Cammarano. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the Visiting Angels who cared for John and to the CT Hospice Homecare team.

Campanelli, Sandra
Sandra (Sandi) Elma Gilbert Campanelli, 67, of Milford, beloved wife of Michael Campanelli, Sr. passed away peacefully on September 3, 2021 in Naples, Florida. Born on March 6, 1954 in Milford, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Antoinette (Toni) Gilbert.
Sandi was born and raised in Milford, where she married her best friend and soulmate Mike. This past summer they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Together they raised two children that she was extremely proud of, Michael Campanelli, Jr. and Amy Campanelli-Buggé. She was a short order cook, chauffeur and the biggest cheerleader for them and all their friends. Sandi was a second mom to all, and her love for family was never ending. She was also proud of her second son, her son-in-law Vincent Buggé and she cherished her only granddaughter, the sunshine of her life, Alyson Michaela.
Sandi was an employee of Bic Corporation for 13 years. She was a dedicated and hardworking employee. She often bragged about the wonderful friends she made there and the many life lessons they taught her along the way. After that she opened her own home daycare where for 20 years she cared for family and friends’ children. She loved each and every child like her own.
She was a proud loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who lived a life full of love and joy. Sandi had a sense of humor which was on point and a never ending list of questions even sharper. Before rheumatoid arthritis took control of her body she enjoyed walking around craft fairs, painting, working in her garden and riding on the back of her husband’s Harley Davidson. She loved to drink tea, watch HGTV and talk with friends.
Sandi always seemed to know how to lift someone’s spirits when they needed it most and surprising many others with random acts of kindness. She held herself with such strength and grace even in trying times. RA may have slowed her down but she was a fighter until the very end. She loved life and lived it to its fullest, always surrounding herself with family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Along with her husband, children and granddaughter, Sandi leaves behind her sister, Marie Gilbert Perkins (Ballston Spa, NY), several brother and sister-in-laws, many nieces and nephews and countless friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Harry Gilbert III (Milford, CT).
In honor of Sandi’s wishes, we respectfully request that people who are attending the services wear attire with bright colors, especially pink, which was her favorite. We all know it’s not advisable to not follow her rules.

Cunnington, George Richard Jr.
George “Skip” Cunnington, of Milford, CT, and formerly of Palo Alto, CA, beloved husband of Gillian “Jill” Hays Cunnington, passed away on September 9, 2021 at his home in Milford after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Born on December 22, 1929 in Akron, Ohio, the only child of the late George R. Cunnington and Amy (Sundvahl) Cunnington, George, nicknamed “Skip” within the family, graduated from St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin, earned a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University, and later received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
George enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the field of mechanical and aerospace engineering, including 26 years as a research scientist with Lockheed Missiles and Space Research Labs in Palo Alto. George was a heat transfer expert, a world-renowned authority on heat transfer in insulation systems for aerospace vehicles. He developed, tested, and analyzed various aerospace insulation systems for NASA and Department of Defense flight vehicles, and authored at least 66 technical papers. He contributed significantly to the development of reusable surface insulation, such as the Space Shuttle tiles. George was the 2016 recipient of the prestigious American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Thermophysics Award, an annual award presented for an outstanding singular or sustained technical or scientific contribution by an individual in thermophysics, which honored his “lifelong contributions to the development of thermal protection systems, multi-layer cryogenic insulation systems, and radiative heat transfer analysis techniques.”
Following his marriage to Jill in 1997, George was the patriarch of a large, blended family of 7 children, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 4 Jack Russell Terriers, all of whom were a central part of George’s life. In addition, George became part of a large extended English family, headed by “MM”, Jill’s mother, and including Jill’s 4 sisters and 1 brother, and their families. George loved to travel, and until Parkinsons robbed him of this ability, he and Jill made frequent trips within the U.S. and to Mexico, Hawaii and Europe, including twice-a-year visits to England to see his adopted English family, especially “MM”, until her death in 2013.
Memories of George will be cherished and kept alive by Jill, his beloved wife of 24 years; by his 7 children (and spouses): Rick (and Sandi), Brad (and Patty), Kitty, Rachel (and Brian), Beth (and Laurent), Degge, and Toph; by his 13 grandchildren (and spouses): Mari (and Andrew), Lisa (and Jon), Megan, Robert, Buddy, Tyler, Ali, Brian, Aggie, Jack, Jamie, Olivia, and Anabel; by his 5 great grandchildren: Jacob, Sophia, Madeline, Jane, and Josephine; by his English siblings-in-law (and spouses): Anne, Dave (and Kirstie), Liv (and Ol), Alice, Clare (and Lou), and their children and grandchildren; by his 4 nieces-by-marriage, JoEllen, Mary Sue, Betsy, and Patty; by his many friends and former colleagues; and by his fiercely protective dog, Millie, the last-in-line of George’s and Jill’s beloved Jack Russell Terriers.
George was predeceased by his first wife, Connie (Bargen) Cunnington the mother of Rick, Brad and Kitty, and by his second wife, Mary Ann Fisherkeller, the aunt of JoEllen, Mary Sue, Betsy and Patty.
George’s family would like to thank the many people who participated in caring for George in his last years and who enabled Jill to fulfill her promise to George that he would remain at home until the end of his life, especially: Reverend Julie Kelsey, Assisting Priest St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Milford; Yungah Lee, MD of Northeast Medical Group Geriatric Home Based Primary Care; Amar Patel, MD of Yale Medicine Neurology; all the staff at Vitas Hospice especially Fran and Richard; and last but certainly not least Mimode LaLanne, home care aide from Caring People, whose unexpected entry into George’s life as he began his final weeks in hospice did indeed prove to be a godsend.
A funeral service will be held for George on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 71 River Street, Milford, CT at 4:00pm followed by a gathering of family and friends at the family home.

Interment will take place privately at Better Place Memorial Forest, Litchfield County CT and at Alta Mesa Cemetery, Palo Alto CA.
Dallas, Donald
Don Dallas, kind, caring and loving husband of Marie Dallas, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2021. Born on May 21, 1940 in Danbury, CT he was the son of Mary and Samuel Dallas.
Don spent his life fighting for the underdog. In various positions over the course of his career he worked with and for the homeless, mentally challenged, and unemployed, for single moms and for others living below the poverty level, and for those otherwise marginalized. He will be remembered for his kind heart, quirky sense of humor, and his love of ice cream.
At age 15 Don bought his first guitar with money saved from his job as a reporter for the local paper. He remained devoted to the Gibson until the end; the newspaper reporting led to a career in communications. A consummate writer, he was always engrossed in some project, be it an autobiographical essay, social commentary, or philosophical musings.
He was an excellent step-father, willing to take on four kids without flinching, and throwing his whole heart into the well-being of the family.
Don is survived by his wife, Marie, stepson Nano and his wife, Jane, stepson Andres, stepson Cristian and his wife Justine, stepdaughter Cynthia and her husband Brian, and his grandchildren Lily, Blake, Kyle, Slade, Farah, Hannah, Jacob and Catalina. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Mary Ellen.

Foster, David Cecil
David (Dave) Cecil Foster, 73, of Milford, Connecticut, beloved husband of Tracey Wentworth Foster, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 8, 2021. David was born on June 10, 1948 in Newport, Vermont. He was the son of the late Wilfred Cecil Foster and Liane Germaine Couture. David fought a courageous battle with lung cancer and passed away from complications from treatment.
David was born in Newport, Vermont and lived on the family farm until the family moved to Milford, Connecticut when David was 8 years old. David grew up in Milford and was a part of the first graduating class of Orchard Hills Elementary School (1962). David graduated from Milford High School in 1966 and then went into the army and fought in the Vietnam War. David was an avid baseball fan who played in his early years at US Motors Field on Old Gate Lane with his brothers and friends. His favorite team was the Detroit Tigers whom he would watch religiously. David also loved watching cartoons, such as Snoopy, Tom & Jerry, and the Three Stooges. His favorite band was Canned Heat which he most commonly listened to while he worked or while enjoying a beer in the pool. He loved watching old western movies but his two favorite movies were The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Easy Rider. David collected coins in his spare time and loved riding his motorcycle.
David was a carpenter by trade and worked at the Children’s Center of Hamden for 30 years. He made many lifetime friends while working at the Children’s Center and made connections with the students who attended the center.
David served in the U.S. Army from November 14, 1966 to November 3, 1968. David achieved the rank of E-4 Specialist while serving in the U.S. Army. David served in the Army’s 1st Field Force Corporation as an Artillery Specialist in the Vietnam War. David earned an expert marksmanship medal which helped him through three frontline campaigns in Vietnam. These campaigns earned him the following honors: Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Meritorious Unit Commendation; and, Presidential Unit Citation (3X).
David was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, nephew, uncle, friend, and veteran, his memory will be cherished by all who were privileged to know him. In addition to his loving wife, Tracey Wentworth Foster, he is survived by his daughter, Jessica Liane (Joseph) LaCava; son, David William Foster; granddaughters, Alaina and Ariana; sister, Diane (John Jordan) Montville; brother, Will (Maureen) Foster; sister-in-law, Cheryl Foster; sister, Sylvia Longo; brothers, Patrick (Diane) Foster and Dan (Jeannine) Foster; and many loving nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael Foster; niece, Kimberly Foster; father-in-law, Robert Wentworth; brother-in-law, Alex Wentworth; and nephews, Russell and Bobby Wentworth.

Hanifin, Joan F.
The world had almost 91 years with our beautiful Mother and it is an entirely different place without her. Joan Fleming Hanifin, beloved wife of the late Donald E. Hanifin, closed her beautiful blue eyes for the last time, as her Angels came for her, peacefully at home the morning of August 31, 2021. Born on September 11, 1930 in Springfield, MA, she was the 2nd of 5 children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. II, and Kathleen Fleming.
She grew up in the Forrest Park section of Springfield MA on Marengo Park and attended Holy Name elementary school where her inherited talents of music and art began to appear. She fell in love with the Ocean at an early age and would spend the rest of her life living on or near it. Her family would spend the summers at Knollwood beach in Old Saybrook, CT. She spoke her mind at an early age insisting she would not accompany her parents on the drive down unless her father promised not to smoke in the car. She loved to tell the story of the hammerhead shark that swam up to her to say hello but “was full” while swimming with friends on Cape Cod one summer. This was one of many stories where it seemed there were benevolent forces at work guiding and protecting her through life. Like the time she went off road in Winter in Northern VT just before dark following a snowstorm and a bus of rugby players just happened by to lift her car back on the road within a few minutes. It was remarkable to watch how her constantly positive attitude seemed to create the beautiful life that unfolded for her.
She graduated form Cathedral High School where her artistic and musical talents emerged even more. Naturally gifted musically, she performed at Symphony Hall in Springfield MA in the late 40’s for the Cathedral Minstrel show and brought the house down with dueling piano duets. Simultaneously, she was winning a high school art contest sponsored by the Boston Globe where her artwork was displayed at an early age in Boston. She loved art and always found time for painting and sketching. And I never met anyone else who was ambidextrous and could write their name forwards and backwards with both hands, but she could. It was just one of so many things that made her so special and unique. Everyone she knew received a painting or drawing at some point in their lives; when there were marriages, birthdays, new children, or just a special someone that she liked who she thought could use a lift. There were so many examples of her simple acts of kindness to us kids growing up. She led by example in so many ways.
She went on to attend her mother’s alma matter, The College of New Rochelle where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She went on to teach elementary school in Chicopee MA for several years and of course was a natural. She excelled at interacting with young people who were drawn to her smile, kindness, happiness, laughter, and music. Anyone who sat with her in a public space like church knew she could spot a baby a mile away and tell you all about it on the drive home, how the baby did this or that and the parents did this or that and it could have been 30 pews away. One can only guess how many early lives she touched before she met her future husband Donald E. Hanifin, and her focus shifted to helping him run his first business while simultaneously starting a family.
His first business was a flower shop in Springfield on Dickinson Street. Her natural artistic talents enabled her to create beautiful arrangements by the dozen and her ability to keep up with demand for hours on end gave the first glimpse of her work ethic. Here and throughout life she would work methodically, peacefully, in moderation and patience without ever shrinking from it through weariness or difficulty to work. And it must have been incredibly difficult at times raising 6 kids and helping her husband, in business for himself. They were perfect for each other in so many ways. Together they hosted dinner parties for years nearly every night of the week while they built the business. My older brother described them as “professional entertainers”. The dinners were simple but elegantly served with comfortable humor, taste, and class. They could immediately make guests feel comfortable and welcome. This atmosphere resulted in parties that lasted into the wee hours of the morning with all the guests jam packed around the piano in the living room laughing and singing as Joan played into the night. Together they brought joy to so many families through their bonds of friendships, created over the years. It seemed hundreds of Christmas cards poured through the door every December. Joanie was in her element at Christmas where she seemed to control the chaos with love and cheer and reverence to the true meaning of Christmas. It was easy to say she made every holiday special, but it was all the other times she took advantage of whatever opportunity there was to provide a meal to friends, family and strangers alike. Their friends and family responded with appreciation for their love and friendships with what seemed like an endless supply of parties and weddings they were invited to. It just wasn’t a party without Don and Joan.
They lived on Perkins Street in Springfield initially before moving to Wenonah Road in Longmeadow so the kids could ride their bikes to school. She was affectionately nicknamed St. Joan of Wenonah by her children as her acts of faith and kindness never seemed to end. She was a natural Mother with a beautiful voice which she often used to sing throughout the house or to put us to sleep as kids. It seemed everything she did was done with purity of intention and unselfishness. She was the short order cook or chauffer whenever we came through the door with several friends who always saw her as their second Mother. She always seemed to know how to lift someone’s spirits when they needed it most while surprising many others with random acts of kindness. She held herself with such grace even in trying times. And yet she was a model of humility. She never took herself too seriously and loved to be silly. She was the first to laugh at anything funny. She loved to take us to the movies on rainy days and introduced us to slapstick and showed us what was funny and how to laugh. There was no doubt she loved and was devoted to her children, her family and friends and would do anything for them.
Like her childhood, the summers with her family were spent at the beach in Milford, CT. She loved Milford and took every opportunity to get her kids involved with anything and everything to give them life experience. She encouraged us to develop our talents by constantly enrolling us in new things. “You’ll never know unless you try” she would say. The Connecticut shoreline offered her so much peace. She would love to sit and watch the boats come in and out of the Milford harbor with ice cream and the kids on hot summer nights or park her car at the town beach and walk into Church in the center of town. An avid reader, she knew everyone at Milford library by first name. As expected, developed lifelong friendships within the small community of Bayview Beach. Milford was home to her for many years after leaving Longmeadow as the year was divided between Milford and Naples, FL.
The circle of friends grew wider when they finally retired to Naples Florida where they enjoyed 10 beautiful golden years before Donald passed. They initiated, coordinated, and hosted the St Patrick’s day Party at St. Maarten in Pelican Bay every year. Donald would continue to hit the beach early and ask when Joan was coming down. “Soon” she would say as she multi tasked on letters, laundry, art projects, errands, shopping all being done continuously with love of duty. In fact, she couldn’t resist treating total strangers like family as she volunteered for habitat for humanity cooking and delivering turkeys every Thanksgiving and Christmas for those less fortunate. She loved to work. She would typically arrive at the beach later in the day, just in time to be told she was hosting a dinner party that night and 6 couples were coming for cocktails in an hour. She could roll with it and make it happen with grace.
She had 10 years in Naples after Donald passed where she continued to walk to church at St. Williams every day and stay for her rosary group. A devout Catholic her faith was paramount to understanding what made her tick. She always impressed upon us to make the most of our gifts. Even though she was late for almost everything which drove our Father crazy because he was the exact opposite, you could always find her after mass talking to people, saying the rosary with others or sometimes just alone in prayer. These things were always more important than the clock to her.
She hated to cause a fuss and proved it by driving herself back and forth to Florida from CT every year despite our efforts to convince her otherwise. She loved to drive almost as much as learning the latest news on what was going on with who and where. She followed the lives of her children and grandchildren with Olympic pedigree. There was no detail to small or insignificant to learn about. She’d spend hours and hours on the phone with both sides of the family from all over the country. She knew everything about everyone and helped us all understand the nuances of life and the beauty in simple things while striving to be always elegant.
She was fighter to the very end. So fit and beautiful everyone thought she’d hit the century mark, but the Angels had other plans for her. She was always so happy even during her illness. If she had a bad day, you’d never know it. She never complained, a lesson to us all. However, it was time to “put her feet up” again. A term she would occasionally use whenever she needed to recharge. She received her wish to be at home looking out over the water of Long Island Sound when the loving arms of Jesus brought her beautiful soul back to Heaven.
There is so much we will all miss about our Mother. She is one of the last of her generation. She meant so much to so many. I picture that somewhere behind Heaven’s Gate there is a beach where the tide is just right. There is a circle of chairs filled with her beloved family and friends and an open one right next to Donald who says, “You finally made it down to the beach Joan”.
We love you Mom. And we are grateful for all you have done and tried to do for us.

Homa, Sophie M.
Sophie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a fast paced walker with her six young children trailing behind, hurrying to keep up to their many final destinations. Sophie was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary Church in Milford and in her later years even watched mass on television. She enjoyed taking trips to visit lighthouses, jigsaw puzzles, balloon rides, knitting and crocheting. Sophie loved to bake and was known for her delicious chocolate chip cookies. She retired from Bic Pen after over 20 years of employment.
Sophie is survived by her children, Ruthann Perrotta, Debbie Lowy, Dave (Arlene) Homa, Mark (Phyllis) Homa, Daniel (Tammy) Homa and Matthew (Christine) Homa; grandchildren, Melissa (Mauro) Biondi, Mattia (Danielle Buccola) Perrotta, Ryan (Maria) Homa, James (Stephannie) Homa, Jennifer (Karl) Hoffmeister, Allison (Alan) Forgette, Christine (Alex) Stoner, Tim (Stephanie) Homa, Thomas (Brittany) Homa, Helen (Donnie) McCarthy, and Albert Homa; 14 great grandchildren; siblings, Florence Bishop, Loretta Barrese, Joseph Gorel and Andrew Gorel; and many nieces and nephews. Judith S. Hongo, 82, of Derby, passed away peacefully at home on September 20, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. Born on July 6, 1939 in New Haven, to the late Alden and Mabel Smith. She was predeceased by her partner of over twenty years Peter Jankura.
Judy was a thoughtful and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed visiting with friends and spending time near the water, especially at Savin Rock, which she visited throughout her life. She was loved by all for her honesty, integrity, and unconditional love. She enjoyed being with her family above all else, insisting on hosting the entire family every Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Judith leaves behind her children, Rhonda (Wayne) Hooper and Gregory (Christina) Vernon; grandchildren, Brooke (Matthew) Sager, Mandy (Brian) Lambert, Kevin Hooper, Eric (Amanda) Hooper, and Christian Bender; great grandchildren, Aidan, Delilah, Jacob, Silas, Rosabelle, and Harper; brother, Roger (Karolyn) Smith; and many extended family and friends.

Injaychock, Lillian Catherine
Lillian Catherine Injaychock, age 102, passed peacefully in her sleep on Aug. 28, 2021. She was a former resident of Rivercliff Drive in Milford, preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chester, in Lord Chamberlain in Stratford after a brief illness.
Lillian was born in Wilkes Barre, PA to the late Joseph and Mary Yuscavage. Educated in the Wilkes Barre School System and was a resident of Milford for 65 years. Lillian enjoyed gardening as well as giving the vegetables she had grown to family, friends and neighbors. She also was a great fan of the UCONN football and basketball programs.
After moving to CT in 1945, she held a number of jobs. As a defense plant employee, she packed fifty caliber belts, and soldered lockers for the Navy. She tested florescent lights in a local factory and also worked at Bostwick Laboratories in Stratford. Later, Lillian spent thirty enjoyable years (while hiding her actual age) while working as a waitress in the Housatonic Lodge, Fagan’s Restaurant and Augustine’s Blue Goose.
Survivors include sons, Michael, Joseph (Janet) and James (Nikki), four grandchildren, Michael, Edward, Erica and Stephen, several nieces and nephews and four great grandchildren.

Kanel, Colleen A.
Colleen A. Kanel, 77, of Milford, CT, loving wife of Charles J. Kanel, Jr. for 61 years, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on September 23, 2021. In addition to her husband, Charles, Colleen is survived by her daughters, Deborah Whelan, Marie Cataldi and Jacqui Marshall and her son, Charles J. Kanel III. She was a loving wife, mother and a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Colleen was an accomplished gardener and loved to quilt with her fellow senior friends at the Milford Senior Center. Colleen will be remembered for her compassion, generosity and serenity. She had a smile for everyone and her generosity knew no bounds. Colleen was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

LaPenna, Patrick Rey
Patrick Rey LaPenna, 23, of Milford, passed away on the 3rd of September 2021. Patrick blessed us with his presence on the 23rd of October 1997. He was born at Naval Station Rota, Spain, to Justine and Christopher LaPenna.
Patrick attended Live Oaks Elementary School, East Shore Middle School, and graduated from Joseph A. Foran High School, Class of 2016. While a student he participated in numerous activities: Soccer (Captain), Tennis (Captain), and National Honor Society. He especially loved the annual Badminton Tournament. He later attended the University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT, where he rediscovered his love for tree-climbing. Being an avid nature lover, he found his peace during sunrise kayak outings at Anchor Beach. He enjoyed exploring many hobbies: photography, painting, gaming, discovering new music, and cactus growing.
Patrick will always be remembered as a loyal friend who was kind to everyone he met. He had a penchant for witty sarcasm, an innate desire to please his inner curiosity, and would never walk away from an honest debate. A gentle soul, he will be incredibly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Justine and Christopher, Patrick leaves behind his adoring siblings, Cristina LaPenna (Matthew Goreham), Nicholas LaPenna, and Julia LaPenna. He is cherished by his grandparents, Elizabeth and Gerald LaPenna, Patricia Browning and François McGarry, and Wayne Browning. He is the nephew of Lisa LaPenna, and Adam Browning. He endlessly entertained his cousins, Danielle Polvan, and Zoë Benton-Browning. He is predeceased by his beloved (favorite) four-legged sibling, Lily LaPenna.

Laubscher, Gary N.
On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, Gary N. Laubscher, loving son of Irving Laubscher and Goldie Laubscher passed away at the age of 68. He was born on November 21, 1952 in Milford, CT.
Gary spent his early years in Milford, Ct where he eventually moved back and lived in his original home where he was raised. As an adult Gary spent most of his life as a landscaper; his company Harborview Landscaping LLC served customers throughout the state for decades. Friends knew Gary as unique, he projected a sense of innocence with a caring heart. Gary struggled with health issues later in life, but he continued working throughout the difficult times, never giving up. Gary had hobbies he enjoyed playing drums, driving sports cars to Litchfield County and Newport, RI was a treat when he did take time off. Gary’s mother Goldie taught him to have an appreciation to dress well, Gary loved to get dressed up and dine out.
Gary’s cheerful attitude and gift of gab will be missed by all who knew him in the community.

Thelma Dawn Lussier, age 84, of Milford and Waterbury, beloved wife of the late Arthur Lussier, Jr., passed away peacefully on Friday, September 10th, 2021.
She was born on April 21, 1937 in Washburn, Maine and was the daughter of the late Bernam and Dorothy (Boone) Baker. Mrs. Lussier was a shipping supervisor for the former Chase Brass and Copper in Waterbury for many years. After retirement, she kept herself busy with her many hobbies and working as an aid for the Waterbury School System. She was a devoted communicant of St. Joseph’s Parish, a member of the Ladies Guild, enjoyed singing in the choir and volunteered for many events. Mrs. Lussier was an avid reader and crocheter, which all her family has received “A Work of Art” made by Thelma.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Robyn Lussier of Milford and Deanna Burns and her husband, Jack of Prospect, two grandchildren, Alicia Mancinone and her husband Adam of Southbury, Jacklyn Essex and her husband Chuck of Stamford and her great granddaughter, Gianna Mancinone. Her son, Arthur “Ricky” Lussier predeceased her. She also leaves her sister, Carol Valenti of Waterbury, her sister-in-law, Carol Garbukas of Prospect, her sister-in-law, Elaine Tiganella of Willmington, NC, her brother-in-law, Paul Lussier of Prospect and several nieces and nephews including her niece Kim Paternostro of Waterbury, whom she referred to as her daughter and her beloved dog, Ellie.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Road, Orange. Committal will be private. There will be no calling hours. David L. Maini, 57, of Milford, beloved husband of Sandy (Choi) Maini, passed away on September 14, 2021. Born on October 29, 1963 in Providence, RI, he was the son of Gino Maini and Lynda Notte.
He loved to travel and take in all the different cultures of the world. He was a chef by profession but he was truly an artist and had a passion for creating and enjoying good food and good drink. He wanted to taste and experience everything he could. David will be fondly remembered as that one person that anyone could truly turn to for love and support. He was deeply loved and will be incredibly missed by all who was fortunate to know him. He had a wonderful ability to be able to form an immediate connection and bond with everyone he met. David was extremely compassionate to everyone he met, and, he gave everything he had to everyone around him.
In addition to his parents and wife, David is survived by his children, Nick and Amanda Maini, and Zachary and Mandy Maini; his grandchildren, Cassius, Lucian, Sterling, Charlotte, and Sawyer; his siblings, Christopher John Maini, Matthew and Myra Maini, and Gina Maini; his nieces and nephews, Christopher, Jr., Isabella and her fiancé Miles Mundy, Matthew, Jr., Gino, and Gabby; his godmother, Susan Nutini; his mother-in-law, Jean Choi; his brother-in-law, Paul Choi; his aunt and uncle William and Donna McGowan; and his fur babies, Otto, Olaf, and Jax. Maraczi, Carol Ann
Melchiore, Helen Francis (Lasky)
Born in Waterbury, CT on November 15, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John and Adele (Gabris) Lasky. She lived in Orange since 1968, and had worked for the Town Accounting Department until her retirement in 2004. When Helen wasn’t travelling, she could be found enjoying classic films and Elvis Presley music. She was a recognized expert in 1950’s movie trivia and watched golf whenever she could. Above all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen leaves her loving children, Marla Polites, Salvatore J. Melchiore, Jr. and his wife Kersti, and John Melchiore; her grandchildren, Sydney and Zachary Melchiore, Mason and Maverick Melchiore, Taryn Donnarummo and her husband Stephen, Arielle Polites and her husband James Neurath, and Britney Polites Gordon and her husband Sean Gordon; her great-grandchildren, Eliana and Gabriella Donnarummo; and several nieces and nephews.

Michaud, April Rikki
April Rikki Michaud, age 42, passed away on Sunday, September 5th, 2021. She is survived by her three children, who made up the entirety of her world, Miranda (age 26), Trevanna (age 19), and Risten (age 18). April’s passion in life was caring for others and her capacity for empathy was boundless. April worked as a nurse for over 20 years and shared her wisdom and experience that she gained over the years with all.
Besides her children, April is survived by her mother, Shelley Michaud, her brothers Dale Michaud and Ryan Michaud, her sister, Arielle Lichter, several nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
While April’s family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember April in a way that honors her spirit. Musante, Gladys Irene
Gladys Irene Moyer Musante passed away peacefully on September 16, 2021 at the age of 96.
Gladys was born to Aurel John Moyer and Marion Rebecca Stahler Moyer on July 22, 1925. She was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She spent a lot of time on her grandparents’ farm growing up. She would collect eggs, clean and grade them with her sister Dolly. Although she was afraid of the horses at first when she was little, she became quite fond of the animals on the farm, including the cats and kittens they had living in the barn.
After losing her mother at the young age of ten, Gladys spent time with her Aunt Dottie who studied botany. They searched for various plants in the woods to study. Gladys developed a passion for plants and flowers, one that endured her entire life. Butterflies too became closely associated with Gladys.
Her father later remarried and Gladys welcomed a young stepsister, Blanche who she loved very much. She recalled playing mother to “Blanchie.” Gladys had a unique and enjoyable childhood and was very close to her sisters and friends. She had a bicycle gang with their friends called the “Seven We’s.” In high school she rode the trolly to school and into the city to shop and go to the movies on weekends. She enjoyed vacations at her Aunt Jenny’s cottage in Maryland where she and her cousins enjoyed swimming and Aunt Jenny’s boat.
After high school, Gladys attended Kutztown State Teacher’s College. During her second year there, fate stepped in. The U.S. Air Force briefly ran their cadet program at the Kutztown College campus. Gladys stayed at the school during Christmas vacation to work in the dining room. One day, while wiping down tables when she was approached by an Air Force cadet, Leo Musante, who volunteered to help her. Leo commented on her lovely yellow sweater. A year later they were engaged and the rest is history. Sixty-four years of marriage (until Leo’s passing), 5 children, 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild later, Gladys and Leo were the center of a large loving family.
Gladys always enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Sunday dinners at Grandma’s house were always enjoyed. Trips to Beardsley Zoo and hikes up Sleeping Giant Mountain and Kent Falls were also regular traditions. Sleepovers with the grandchildren, thousands of board games played and time spent in Grandma’s backyard created many fond memories for all. Over the years, many family members moved away but they were always “close” to Grandma no matter how far away they lived. Gladys never forgot a birthday, anniversary or even someone’s favorite meal and regularly reached out to her loving family.
Gladys shared with her family an old German saying: “Simple people have happy lives. It’s clear: you have to decide what’s important.” Gladys truly cut her life around this quote. She always appreciated and commented on the little things. From the sunshine to the pretty trees, even particular vegetables in her salad. She set an example for her family to embrace the little things, including simple moments of togetherness.
Gladys will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all of those lucky to have met her. She was predeceased by her parents, Aurel Moyer and Marion Stahler, husband, Leo Musante; son, Matthew Musante; sister, Dolly Spangler; sister-in-law, Beatrice Musante Cochran; brothers-in-law, Thomas Musante, Lee Spangler and Robert Pagel; daughter-in-law, Dee Musante; and granddaughter, Marlene Musante Williams. She is survived by her four children, David Musante of Milford, Phillip Musante of Branford, Marion Mikruta (Gary) of Venice, Florida, and Dottie Joseph (Stephen) of Kissimmee, Florida; sister, Blanche Pagel; brother-in-law, Raymond Musante; sister-in-law, Ines Saucier; daughters-in-law, Nancy Musante and Carol Reidenbach; countless grandchildren, great (and great, great) grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and last, but not least, her beloved kitty, Tigger.

Oze, Ines P.
Ines P. Oze, 91, of Milford, beloved wife of the late George Oze, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021. Born on October 3, 1929 in Quillota, Chile, she was the daughter of the late Albino and Maria (Ortiz) Pinto.
Ines worked hard to come to the United States. She became an orphan at a very tender age and lived many years in an orphanage in Chile. She was living independently soon after her exit from school. Ines became a bookkeeper for a fur store and began to learn the trade of sewing. She worked hard for many years saving money and learning English with aspirations of arriving in the United States. Ines arrived from Chile in 1961 to Fort Lee, New Jersey. She lived with a family friend, caring for their young children and home while beginning her career in the fur industry. Shortly after her arrival, she met George and they were married 6 months later. Ines and George moved to Yonkers, N.Y and continued to grow their family. Ines worked as a fur finisher in the Bronx for many years. She was dedicated to the local Catholic Church in Yonkers and after purchasing her home in Milford, CT in 1973 became an active member of the St. Agnes community. Ines and George made permanent residence in CT in 1990 where they enjoyed their waterfront home, continued to raise their children and welcomed their grandchildren. Ines was very proud of her Chilean heritage and continued to pass on traditions and recipes. She enjoyed sewing costumes and clothing for the loved ones in her life. If she loved you, chances are you have something hand crafted by her in your home.
Ines is survived by her devoted children, Anna Oze, George Oeze and his wife Amy, and Tanya Dana and her husband Scott; her cherished grandchildren, Cameron and Kyle Oeze, and Sophia and Luke Dana; her sisters, Goyita Villarroel and Maria Pinto; her best friend, Irma Heiter; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her husband, Ines was predeceased by her brother Agustin Pinto and two brothers-in-law.

Patricia was a devoted family member to her large and loving family including her husband of 68 years, Richard L. Pacelle, Sr. her four children, Richard L. Pacelle Jr. (Fenton Martin), Kim (Dennis) Johnsky, Wendy (Neil) Hathaway and Wayne Pacelle (Lisa Fletcher). She was the doting grandmother of Danika (Chris) Hodges, Robb (Lauren) Hathaway, Corey Hathaway, and step-grandmother of Craig Martin (Chiara Bariviera) and great-grandmother of Cora and Charlie Hodges and Penelope Hathaway; her sisters Harriet Kral and Cally (Joseph) Angeletti, her godchild Marcy Winkel and in-laws Beverly Kledaras and George Guiliotis, numerous nieces, nephews and their extended families. Patricia was predeceased by her siblings Thomas and Stanley Kledaras, Dorothy Guiliotis, Georgene Kledaras, brother-in-law Walter Kral and step-grandson Russell Martin.

Ruth Pratt Upham Petremont passed away at 104 yrs on February 20, 2020 in Orange, CT. She was born in Norwood MA on May 7, 1915. She married 1st Lt Gordon B Petremont who predeceased her in 2004 after 60 wonderful years.
She was a loving Mother to Nancy Bailey and her husband Robert and William Petremont and his wife Maryann and Aunt to Robert J Petremont and his wife Susan.
She was very proud her grandchildren David Upham Bailey and his wife Carolyn, Laurel Bailey Ghose and her husband Saelen, Mark Petremont, Aimee Petremont and Debbie Wertman.
And her eight Great Grandchildren Nicholas Bailey; Brayden, Avery, & Maya Ruth Ghose; Alexia & Mark J Petremont, Jose & Anthony Melendez.
She graduated from Lasell College in Newton MA in 1936. Ruth was a 70 year member & past Regent of Freelove Baldwin Stow Chapter of DAR in Milford, a member of Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America, The Society of Mayflower Descendants and The Upham Family Society. She was a Girl Scout Leader for 10 years and Deaconess & President of the Women’s Fellowship of the Orange Congregational Church.
Ruth loved gardening, bowling and going out to dinner! She never missed a chance to travel especially to Vermont or to visit with her family.

Richard C. Plasky, age 68, beloved husband of 34 years to Laurie M. (Wynn) Plasky of Milford, died suddenly from a fast moving cancer on Sept. 2, 2021.
Son of Charles Plasky of Milford and the late Marion Plasky, He was born on June 23, 1953 in Bridgeport. He has worked as an electrical engineer for North East Electronics for over 35 years and taught chair canning with Milford Adult Education.
In addition to his devoted wife, Richard leaves his daughter, Shannan McKernan, His brother, Robert Plasky and his wife Barbara all of Milford and his two nieces and a nephew.

Portnoy, Herbert H.
Herbert H. Portnoy, age 90, of Milford entered into rest on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at The Jewish Home in Bridgeport.
He was born in Boston, MA on September 28, 1930, son of the late Samuel and Rose (Maltzman) Portnoy. Herbert was a graduate of Vesper George School of Art. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served from 1952-1954. He started his career as an Advertising Manager for Stop & Shop. Later, Herbert owned and operated Herbert H Portnoy Advertising Agency in Hamden, CT for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Milford Senior Center and Senior Arts Council of Milford and Woodbridge. Herbert was a member of B’nai B’rith. He volunteered for Meals On Wheels and volunteered at the New Haven Public Schools through the Agency on Aging. Herbert was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed listening to jazz music. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family.
He was the beloved father of Debra Knaub and her husband Ralph, Marsha Cilento and her husband John, Susan Falvey and her husband Edward and Allyson Portnoy and loving grandfather of Jacob, Alexander, Samantha, Gina, Sarah, Brendan and Joseph. He was also survived by two loving nephews and friends. Herbert was predeceased by a brother Edward Portnoy and a sister Mildred Markowitz.
Friends are invited to his funeral service on Friday at 12:30 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. His burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Shiva will be held at the home of Edward and Susan Falvey, 812 Hillcrest Rd., Orange on Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 PM.

Robert Lockwood Raynor, age 92, of Milford, beloved husband of Elizabeth Armour Raynor for 65 years, died at home on Friday, September 24, 2021. Robert was born in Southhampton, NY on May 10, 1929, to the late Ansel and Florence Gordon Raynor. He was a proud US Army veteran and served during the Korean War. Robert was a life member and past commander of VFW Post 7788 in Devon, CT and was an employee at Bridgeport Hospital for over 39 years. He was a volunteer resident advocate for the Omsbudaman Program for the State of CT and a member of St Agnes Church where he served as a Eucharistic minister and was also a member of their Men’s Club. Survivors include his children; Debra Ann Cyros (Steve) of AZ and Katherine Ann Williams (Robby) of CA, and Robert G. Raynor of Shelton, six grandchildren, Kristopher and Shaline Stoyak, Kendra Nichols and Jacqueline Boone, and Marc and Steven Raynor, seven great-grandchildren; Bailee and Tye Nichols, Able, Ethan and Sean Boone and Lincoln and Harper Raynor, and two siblings; Shirley McMahon and Richard Raynor. Robert is predeceased by eight siblings.

Brandon M. Roe, 30, of Milford, beloved husband of Giovanna Desisto and father of Chase Michael Roe, passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2021. Born on April 16, 1991 in New York City, he was the son of Terrence Michael Roe, Jr. and Meg Gordon Roe.
Brandon had a very strong work ethic and consistently one of the top advisors at his job. He was always thinking ahead trying to plan his next career move and always excelled at everything he put his mind to. Brandon had a love for music and dancing. Anyone who knew him knew he could always light up a room. Nobody could compete with his sense of style or dance moves.
Brandon had a passion for sports but nothing could compare to the love he had for his wife and son. He loved being a father and Chase was his greatest joy.
Brandon had a huge heart and was always someone you could count on. He has helped countless people in his journey of recovery.
Along with his wife, son, and parents, Brandon leaves behind his sister, Julia Elizabeth Roe; paternal grandmother, Mickey Roe; maternal grandfather, Stan Gordon; brother-in-law, Joe Desisto; parents-in-law, Joe and Mena Desisto, uncle, Scott Gordon; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. Schneider, Christopher John
Christopher John Schneider, age 47, of Milford entered into rest on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at his home.
Chris was born in Chicago Heights, IL on February 6, 1974. He was the beloved son of Stephen John and Anne (Peters) Schneider. He lived in the Connecticut area since 1990.
Chris attended Rich South High School in Richton Park, IL before moving to Shelton where he graduated from Shelton High School in 1992. He went on to UCONN where he received his bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems in 1996. Chris was a Security Analyst for IBM. He was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity at UCONN. Chris enjoyed movies, U2 band, video games, gadgets, traveling and the family recipe of gingerbread cookies.
Chris was the loving father of Chloe Budzinski, brother of Thomas Schneider, Diane Niwore (Tony) and uncle of Madeline Niwore and William Niwore. He was also survived by Jennifer Budzinski and several friends.

Barbara Louise Scianna, age 82, beloved wife of 55 years to Louis “Chick” Scianna of Milford, entered peaceful rest on September 23, 2021.
Barbara was born on July 13, 1939 in Bridgeport and was the daughter of the late Charles and Aileen (Cahill) Blake. She and her husband are the owners of Kurt Lee Products in Oxford.
In addition to her devoted husband, Barbara leaves her loving children, William Garnett (Andrea), Michael Garnett (Debra) all of Milford, Lee Scianna of Derby and eight grandchildren. She also leaves her brothers and sisters, John Blake (Cheryl), Michael Blake, all of Milford, Elizabeth Ruff of Glastonbury, Kathleen Casey (Michael) of NM, Aileen Meaney of TN, Wesley Thornhill of FLA, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Butch, William, Charles, and her son, Kurt Scianna.

Seminoro, Michael “Mike”
Michael “Mike” Seminoro, 34, of Milford, CT, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mike was born on June 2, 1987 to Luz Gonzalez and the late Anthony Seminoro in Bridgeport, CT.
As an avid lover of cars, Mike spent much of his life and career as a dedicated automotive technician. He was a proud member of the Colonial Toyota service team and spent his free time modifying and taking care of any car he could get his hands on. Mike enjoyed spending hot days at the beach, taking day trips to Manhattan and overall just driving around exploring. Mike also had a passion for food and enjoyed cooking.
Michael is survived by his mother, his partner of 14 years, Elvin Sierra, his sister, Kayla Seminoro, his brother Isaac Nieves, his dog, Jasper, and other cherished family members.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be privately held for family and loved ones.

Shanley, Robert C.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Donna L. Shanley, and his adoring children, son PJ Shanley (Whitney), and daughter Erin (Nuala).
Bob is also survived by his four adoring grandchildren, Caitlyn, Colleen, Ronan, and Maeve, as well as many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Also, survived by brother James (Betty Elizabeth) – predeceased by brother Richard (Beverly).
Born May 31st, 1943, Bob was the son of Dorothy and Patrick J Shanley.
He graduated Hamden High and Quinnipiac College with a degree in Business Administration.
He was discharged from active duty in the army in 1966.
He had a long and successful career in insurance, beginning with the Travelers insurance company and then the Hanover Insurance company.
After 10 years for working with both companies, Bob embarked on an independent career and is now affiliated with Nicholson Associates of Milford.
Bob joined the Professional Insurance Association (PIA), serving as president from 1995 from 1996 and six years as their national director.
Bob was active in the Orange community, having coached both PJ and Erin. Bob was also an active member of the Orange Democratic Town Committee and served as a town constable. He was also proudly chairman of the Orange Police Commissioners for 10 years. Bob is proud to be involved in the Irish community, serving as President of the New Haven chapter of the Irish Immigration reform movement, as well as their National Director.
Bob was a communicant and volunteer at Holy Infant Church for over 30 years.
Bob is a member of the AOH, the West Haven Irish American Club, as well as the Knights of Saint Patrick, serving as President in 1982. The Knights awarded him the Knight of the Year Award in 1999. Bob was a proud member of the New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee since the 1970s, serving as Grand Marshall in 1987. He was also the Executive Director for 10 years.

Adam M. Smith, age 38, of Milford entered peaceful rest on Sept. 16, 2021. Son of Aaron Smith Sr. and Christina (Cooke) Smith of Milford and was born on Oct. 4, 1982 in Milford.
Adam graduated from Foran High School in 2001 and was working for Amazon in North Haven. Adam was an Eagle Scout and an avid Marvel and DC fan. His love of music and writing was boundless. Adam, aka. “AutumnSun”, was a proud member of the Golden Hill Paugussett Tribe.
In addition to his parents, Adam is survived by his brother, Aaron J. Smith, Jr. “Two Feathers” and his sister, Catherine Smith “Morning Star” of Milford. He also leaves his uncles, Robert Cooke (Toni Mclellan) and Walter Joseph Bailey and Roger Michael Smith (Bill Ravenscroft), his aunts, Sharon Bigos (Adam) and Tina Highsmith and many cousins whom he considered siblings. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Verle and Nannie Cooke, paternal grandmother Ethel Smith, his aunt Belinda Smith and his uncles, James Ray Cooke and Paul David Smith.

Carol Eileen Smith, 86, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Richard Smith, Sr., passed away peacefully on September 13, 2021. Born on January 15, 1935 in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Eileen Murray.
After attending Saint Mary’s High School in New Haven, Carol worked at New Haven Railroad, Southern New England Telephone and Saint Raphael Hospital, where she met her beloved husband Richard of 62 years. Carol devoted her life to raising her five children. She was a loving wife, caring mother, sweetest grandmother, amazing sister and best friend to many. She will long be remembered as someone who put others first. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren playing sports, swimming in the pool and talking to them on the phone. She loved hosting holidays and picnics at her home, spending time with her brother and sister which always resulted in “lots of laughs” and family dinners were always a Sunday must. Whether you met Carol one time or knew her your entire life, you knew you were better off for having spent time with her. She will be missed beyond words can express.

William A. Sprouls Jr., age 94, of Orange, formerly of New Canaan, beloved husband of the late Geraldine Mullins Sprouls, passed away on August 29, 2021, in his residence. Bill was born on April 13, 1927, in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late William A. and Muriel (Donovan) Sprouls. Prior to moving to New Canaan, he and his wife had been longtime residents of Westwood, New Jersey. He was a graduate of St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, New Jersey and was a retired self-employed food/food supplies salesman. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II and was an avid reader, skilled billiards player and enjoyed playing black jack in Atlantic City and at the Connecticut casinos. Survivors include his devoted children, Daniel W. Sprouls and his wife Joan of Florida, and Sharon Doughty and her husband Ken of Stratford, 2 cherished grandchildren, Timothy Doughty and his wife Cynthia, and Jennifer Harris and her husband Michael, great-grandchildren, Layla, William, and Cassius, and a niece, Elizabeth (Miller) Petrie and her husband, James and their children, Sean and Kevin. Sunayana Srivastava was born January 1, 1981 and passed away on September 5, 2021 at the age of 40.
Strait, Joanne
She was born in Kearny. New Jersey on July 9, 1940, a daughter of the late Joseph and Doris (McElrath) Rieger.
She spent most of her career as a bookkeeper at Measurement Systems in Fairfield. She earned an associate degree from Gateway Community College. She was a member of Mensa and enjoyed international travel during her retirement. She was a longtime member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in West Haven.
She is survived by her son, Donald Strait and his wife, Allison, of Madison; her grandchildren Emma, Donald (Junior) and Max Strait; and her sisters Jean Rich of Ledgewood, NJ and Virginia Pope of Wallingford. She was predeceased by her sisters Eileen Crane and Doris Augur.

Sullivan, Florenece V.
Florence V. Sullivan, age 93, of Milford, died on Monday, September 13th, 2021. Florence was born in Bridgeport on September 26, 1927, to the late Michael and Veronica Varholy Sopchak. She was the executive secretary to the Chairman of the Board of Perkin Elmer in Wilton, CT for many years. She traveled extensively throughout Europe and enjoyed playing golf. She was on the Board of the Foxwood Association as secretary. She played a special role in all her family’s upbringing and thought of her nieces and nephews as her own children, especially her niece Elaine. Florence is survived by her nine nieces and nephews: Elaine Viola, Diane Saracin, Carol Penn, Joan Lore, Michael Sopchak III, John Sopchak, James Sopchak, Peter Mikulak and William Sopchak. She is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews and a great-great nephew and niece, whom she adored, Connor Dudley and Allison Dzuirgot. Florence is predeceased by her brothers, Stephen Sopchak and Michael Sopchak JR., and sisters; Helen Stanziola and Anne Mikulak.

A. Patrick “Pat” Vigilio, 87, of Milford, beloved husband of 45 years to Sandra (Shaw) Vigilio, passed away on September 15, 2021. Born on January 16, 1934 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Adolph and Lucy (Puglia) Vigilio.
Pat graduated Central High School with the class of 1951 and proudly served his country in the United States National Guard. He retired from Sikorsky Aircraft after 41 years as a manufacturing engineer. Pat was a former member of the Milford Club and a member of the Milford Yacht Club for 37 years. He enjoyed cooking and travelling and was fortunate enough to have wonderful friends, including “The Gang”- Doreen and John, and Trish and Matt.
In addition to his beloved wife, Sandy, Pat is survived by his cherished daughter, Teri Panzella and her husband, Tom; sister-in-law, Debbie Cramer; many nieces, nephews and extended family; and his special angel, Alyssa, of whom he was the ring bearer at her wedding earlier this year.

Randall W. Watson, 69, of Milford, passed away in his home on September 20, 2021. Born on January 22, 1952 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of Marcella Isabel Watson and the late George Watson Jr.
Randy grew up in Monroe and attended Masuk High School. He was a member of Fairfield County Fish and Games and was an avid sportsman. He took pride in his knowledge and craft of tools and machinery. Most of his career was spent with Moore Tool and then retiring at Lacey Manufacturing. He was a loyal friend, firearms enthusiast and had a witty sense of humor.
In addition to his loving mother, Randall is survived by his cherished daughter, Courtney Swift and her husband, Raymond, his former spouse Deborah Trumpower, and many nieces, cousins, extended family and lifelong best friend, Risto Rinne of California. He was predeceased by his son, Shawn Watson, and by his brother, Donald Watson.

Williams, Ronald S.
Ronald S. Williams, 65, of Milford, beloved husband of Elfriede (Horan) Williams, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. Born on May 24, 1956 in Milford, he was the son of the late Raymond E. Williams, Sr. and Eleanor (Miller) Williams.
Ron was a dedicated employee of Sikorsky Aircraft for 34 years working as a production welder. He enjoyed going to car shows with his close friends and cruising around in his corvette. Ron battled courageously for 14 years with heart problems which unfortunately ended with severe heart failure. Ron’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Saint Raphael’s Dr. Tom Donohue, Dr. Mark Blitzer, and Dr. Nimrod Lavi for their wonderful compassion and care.
Along with his wife, Ron leaves behind his brother, Raymond Williams, Jr. and his wife, Diana; six nieces; four nephews; mother-in-law, Eligia Horan; devoted dog, Sadie; and countless friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard L. Williams, Sr. and Roger K. Williams; and niece, Michele Williams.
Friends and family may call from 4:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 BROAD ST., MILFORD, CT. A Funeral Service will conclude the calling hours at 7:00 p.m. that evening at the funeral home. Interment will take place on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at King’s Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry St., Milford, CT (MEET DIRECTLY AT CEMETERY). In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ron’s name to The Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Zeoli, Patricia Tracy
Patricia Tracy Zeoli, 91, of Orange, beloved wife of the late Francis A. Zeoli, passed away peacefully at home on September 8, 2021. Born on March 28, 1930 in Derby, CT, she was the daughter of the late Michael Vincent and Louise (McEnerney) Tracy.
Pat grew up in Derby, Ct and always spoke so fondly of the good times she had and what down town Derby was like with all the stores along Main Street. She held many memories of good friends from her Valley days and many that she stayed in contact with during her lifetime.
Mom attended St Mary’s High School in New Haven and the Larson College, Quinnipiac and then trained at New England Deaconist in Boston.
Mom worked in the laboratory at Griffin Hospital where she met her future husband Frank. Mom and Dad were then encouraged to go on to open Zeoli Medical Laboratory which they operated for over 50 years.
Pat loved being involved in the town and in activities in the schools. She served on and was Chair of the Orange Board of Health, loved local politics and any event or bake sale that was in need. Pat always had the interests of her family front and center and there was always room for another person at the dinner table.
Patricia is survived by her children, Michael T. (Ewa) Zeoli, James M. Zeoli, and Melissa L. Zeoli; her sister, Barbara (George) Santa; her caregiver, Pauline Jackson; many nieces, nephews, and extended family; and by her black lab, Ben.
