Frances (Muldowney) Baye
Frances Ellen Baye, age 72, of Milford, life partner of James Killeen, passed away on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022. Frances was born in Bridgeport on March 4, 1950, to the late Francis “Buddy” Muldowney and Anne Vashey Muldowney. She was a visiting home caregiver and worked in healthcare for many years. Franny loved to go to the casinos. She enjoyed cooking for her family and making holidays extra special. Survivors include her children: Carrie Baye of North Carolina and Meaghan Baye of Wallingford, step-children; Katie and John Killeen (Nicole), four grandchildren, Bobby (Jenny), Krystal, Kaitlyn and Peter, step-grandchildren, Elias, Ryan, Grady and Carlyn, great-grandchildren, Jada and Xena and her beloved sister, Valarie Higgins of Milford. She is predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen Baye and brother-in-law, Philip Higgins.

Josephine (Orzechowski) Brigantic
Josephine Brigantic, age 90, of East Haven, beloved wife of the late Charles Brigantic, entered eternal rest on September 11, 2022.
She was born in Bridgeport on December 30, 1931 to the late Joseph and Catherine (Nicpan) Orzechowski. She graduated from Saint Mary’s School of Nursing in Brooklyn in 1955 and did hospital nursing in Brooklyn and in Bridgeport for a number of years. She then started going to work as a night shift nurse for Schick Razor in Milford in 1974 and retired in 1991. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Brigantic is survived by her devoted children, Jane (Dave) Chick of East Haven and Charles “Chuck” Brigantic of East Haven, grandchildren, Sarah (Perry) Vlahos of Wayne, PA, John (Emily) Chick of Norwalk, David (Jennifer) Chick of Hamden, Victoria (Matthew) Williams of Guilford, Maura (Rey) Ayala of Hamden, Mary Kate (Alexander) Hambright of Tucson, AZ, Colin, Xing and Ze-Xing Briganitic all of Hamden, great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Charlie Williams, Theodore and Anna Vlahos, Elliot and Anthony Chick and Holly Hambright, sister, Mary Cortese of PA and brother, Fred Orrell of Stratford and several nieces and nephews. Josephine is predeceased by her brothers, Francis, Stanley and John and sisters, Sophie, Ceil and Helen.

Vickie Lynn Brotherton
Vickie Lynn Brotherton, 50, of Milford, beloved wife of 21 years to Kyle Brotherton, passed away on August 23, 2022 after a brief illness. Born on October 20, 1971 in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of Anthony and Christine (Wiggins) Papcun, III.
Vickie attended Lenox Avenue Grammar School where she met her future husband in kindergarten; she and Kyle were together for over 30 years. Vickie was a devoted mother, a Girl Scout Troop Leader and worked as a bartender for many years at local establishments. She liked walking and having “step” contests with her friends. Vickie also enjoyed travelling, planting flowers and playing billiards.
In addition to her parents and husband, Vickie is survived by her children, Jillian and Lucas Brotherton; her siblings and siblings-in-law, Rich (Nicole) Papcun, Ken Papcun, Scott (Donna) Brotherton, Lois (Kevin) Daigle, and Shaun Brotherton; her aunts and uncles, William Wiggins, Bill (Marilyn) Papcun, Sue (Ron) Andrews, Lily (Pete) Keogh, and Mable and Sherry Papcun; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends; and her 4-legged companion, and pure bred pain-in-the-ass, Cooper. Vickie was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Billy Brotherton, and her aunt and uncles, Tommy, Robert, and Stephen Papcun and Renee Taska.

Ronald Joseph Brown
Ronald Joseph Brown, age 83 of Crawfordsville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at The Lane House in Crawfordsville. He was born August 22, 1939 to Thomas and Winifred Brown in West Haven, CT. He married the love of his life, Judith Kelly, on April 30th 1960. They were married for 59 years until her death in 2019.
He and Judith raised 4 sons, Ronald (Judy), Wayne, Christopher (Ann) and Stephen (Hollie). He had 10 Grandchildren, Christina, Lisa, Laura, Michael, Taylor, Tess, Tatum, Elizabeth, Jarrett and Sarah; 8 Great Grandchildren, Gemma, Zavier, Cassius, Nazir, Zarina, Brennan, Kieran and Rowan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 siblings, Pammy, Carmen, Rayma, Tommy and Reggie; his son, Wayne; and his wife of 59 years, Judith.
Ron worked at Raybestos for many years transferring to Indiana in 1984. He retired in 2006 from Raybestos. He served in the United States Army and loved his country. He enjoyed fishing and loved the New York Giants. He enjoyed working out in the yard and talking politics. He was a great role model and a man of his word. He was a hardworking man all of his life. His family was very important to him. He will truly be missed by all.
Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S Washington St., in Crawfordsville on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 1:00 pm till the time of the funeral service at 3:00 pm with military honors by the United States Army and Legion Post 72 Honor Guard. Richard J. Burke
Richard J. (“Dick”) Burke, 88, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Carol A. Burke, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2022. Born on August 25, 1933 in Hartford, he was the son of the late James and Frances (Sivigny) Burke.
Richard graduated from Glastonbury High School, served in the U.S. Army, and earned both a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut, as well as a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bridgeport. He lived in Milford for 55 years, during which time he had a 30-year career with Sikorsky Aircraft, retiring in 1994.
Richard is survived by his three loving children, Thomas R. Burke and his husband, Axel Brunger, Janet M. Norris and her husband Gary, and Karen L. Davis and her husband Glen; two cherished grandchildren, Kathryn and Charles Davis; and sisters Patricia Leary of Simsbury and Barbara Dunham of West Hartford. Richard was predeceased by his brother, James Burke. He was a devoted fan of the New York Giants, Boston Red Sox, and UConn basketball (men’s and women’s) his whole life.

Anthony Thomas Calendrillo
Anthony Thomas Calendrillo, 98, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Mabel (Swift) Calendrillo, passed away on September 5, 2022. Born on August 5, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Charles Angelo and Theresa (Thomasulo) Calendrillo.
Anthony Calendrillo grew up in Brooklyn. He graduated from high school during WWII and entered the army after graduation. He was a D-Day veteran and fought across Europe until the end of the war. Following the war, he attended Commercial Art School on the GI Bill. He worked as a textile stylist and continued his art education at Brooklyn Museum and studied Philosophy at the New School. After retiring from textile work, he devoted much of his life to painting. He was very active in the Art Department at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, CT.
He loved sports and played racquetball, tennis, tai chi, and anything to keep fit. He was devoted to Mabel, his wife of 72 years. He was also devoted to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. If anyone in the family needed help, he was there always.
In addition to his beloved wife of 72 years, Anthony is survived by his children, Laura Beam, Bruce (Joan) Calendrillo, and Linda (John Guzlowski) Calendrillo; his seven grandchildren; his eight great grandchildren; and his cat, Lucy. Anthony was predeceased by his brothers, Michael (Buddy) and Charles (Junior).

David B. Casey
David B. Casey, 80, of Milford, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, 2022 with his family by his side. David was born in Bridgeport, CT on April 26, 1942 to Daniel and Cecilia Wagner Casey. David was predeceased by his parents and brother John R. Casey of Milford.
David was raised in Milford…the city he proudly called home his entire life. Growing up on Casey’s Golf Range, David not only developed his golf skills but a work ethic that would drive him to success. Casey’s Golf Range was not only a Milford landmark; it would be the location where David would meet his neighbor and future bride of 50 years Linda Marshall. David graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY where he dreamed of becoming a creative art director of an advertising agency, one that would be fulfilled shortly after graduation.
In 1972 David and his two partners formed McLaughlin, DelVecchio & Casey Advertising which produced award-winning ads along with life-long friendships. In that same year, David and Linda purchased their first and only home in Milford’s beachside community, the Borough of Woodmont, where David’s lasting legacy was not only his creative designs of the annual Woodmont Day T-shirts but his friendliness throughout the neighborhood. David loved his family, including Gulliver, the family dog, the Mets and the wonderful folks of Company 5 Volunteer Fire Department.
David leaves behind his loving wife Linda, son Brendan (Alexis Bristol) three grandsons Maguire, and twins Brogan and Beckett all of Milford. He also leaves behind sister Carol Stack of N. Branford, Daniel Casey (Barbara) of East Hampton, Cecilia Martin (Joseph) of N. Branford and sister-in-law Eileen Casey of Milford.

Marion C. Chadderton
Marion C. Chadderton, 96, of Orange, beloved wife of the late Frank Chadderton, entered into eternal rest on September 10, 2022. Born on July 8, 1926 in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Bartholomew and Katherine Sullivan. Marion opened the Senior Center in Orange in 1968. She was the coordinator there for over 30 years.
Marion is survived by her children Irene (Terry) Richey, Adrienne Kane, Brian Chadderton, Bart (Gerri) Chadderton, and Gary Chadderton; grandchildren Ryan, Keith, Garrett, Dylan, Brandon and Douglas; great-grandchildren Tyler, Gavin, Gianna, Allyson; and many extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her six brothers and sisters.

Lynne M. Connors
On the evening of September 4th 2022, Heaven welcomed another Angel. The beautiful Lynne Marie Connors passed on and into the loving arms of Our Lord.
Lynne was not only brilliant but, beautiful inside and out, she was a scholar-athlete in her younger years. Lynne was a proud Magna Cum Laude graduate of UCONN, an intern at Rusk Institute, a teacher, a multilingual published poet, and beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. All who knew Lynne describe her as “the sweetest girl” with the warmest heart and compassion for others. Lynne’s big blue eyes and loving smile will remain in our hearts forever.
In recent years Lynne suffered from many health problems, she persevered through more than most could imagine. Despite that, she was truly Blessed and continued to Pray for everyone “in Heaven and on earth” and their pets. Her faith never, ever faltered, her love for her family and all God’s creatures was deep and ceaseless. Memories of her bouncing down to the beach on the Cape and her great big loving smile when greeting a loved one will be how we remember her.
Lynne is predeceased by her beloved parents, Harold and Georgia Connors and survived by four siblings, Heidi, Bryan, Scott, and Kymberly. We know Lynne would be honored for any donations regardless of size, to your Church or animal rescue/shelter

Michael A. Costello
Michael Anthony Costello, 77, of Stratford, beloved husband of Deborah Cataldo Costello, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 8, 2022. Born on July 17, 1945, in Bridgeport he was the son of the late Domenic Costello and Anna Dogali Costello.
Michael graduated from Harding High School, Bridgeport in 1963. He joined the Bridgeport Police Department alongside his father and brother in 1968. There, he retired at the rank of Captain after 23 years of dedicated service. He was an avid golfer, loved building things for his house and playing poker in is weekly games.
In addition to his wife Deborah, Michael is survived by his daughter, Michelle Cotton and her husband Dominic; grandson ,Michael Cotton; brother, Domenic Costello and wife Stella; uncle, Chris Costello; nieces and nephew, Ann Kubel and her husband Ken, Tracy Norris and her husband Phil, Domenic Costello and his wife Danielle; several great nieces and nephews; a great-great niece; and his cherished cat Toni. Michael was predeceased by his brother, Anthony Costello.

Charles Lincoln Davis Jr.
Charles L. Davis Jr., 81, of Milford, beloved husband of Barbara Davis, passed away on September 5, 2022. Born on April 30, 1941 in Stamford, he was the son of the late Josephine and Charles L. Davis Sr.
Charles proudly served in the United States Air Force with a stay in Germany for three years. Upon returning to the United States, he met his beautiful wife Barbara, and they began their lives together including their two sons, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Charles worked for the Stamford Board of Education for over 33 years and then for Lauralton Hall in Milford for over 13 years. Once retired, Charles spent his days rooting for Yankees baseball and Raiders football, taking drives to the beach with his wife to watch the seagulls and deer, and tinkering around his toolshed.
Charles will be deeply remembered in every American flag as it blows in the wind and with each four-leaf clover as it grows from the earth.
As the Irish blessing says, “May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
Along with his wife, Charles leaves behind his sons, Charles L. Davis III and Richard (Jennifer) B. Davis; grandchildren, Jaclyn (David) Piselli, Sean Davis, Jillian Davis, and Tyler Davis; great grandsons, Antonio Davis and Cesidio Piselli; sister, Florence Morck; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his siblings, Josephine Melfi, Barbara Kosak, and Carol Moore; and faithful yellow lab, Bear, black lab, Riggs, and German shepherd, Duke.

Harry Davis
Harry Davis of Milford, beloved husband of 50 years to Karen Carroll Davis, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Bridgeport Hospital. He was born in Springfield, VT on December 16, 1933, to the late Harry Davis Sr. and Ruth (Wing) Davis. Harry served in the Navy and retired as an Air Force Master Sergeant. He enjoyed spending time interacting with friends and family on social media and was also very fond of his SAAB cars.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Karen include his children: Denise Hurst, Greg Davis, Jorene Davis, Robyn Lisinsky and Kurt Davis, six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Loretta Marie Paul Goldin
Loretta Marie Paul Goldin, 55, of Milford, beloved wife of Joshua Goldin, passed away on September 15, 2022. She was born on May 19, 1967 in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of Elaine (Nemec) Paul and the late J. Robert Paul.
Loretta is a graduate of Andrew Warde High School and Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. She spent her entire 36-year career working in Accounting at Prudential Annuities, having started at American Skandia while attending college as one of its very first employees before Skandia was purchased by Prudential.
She was heavily involved with The Girl Scouts of America organization, from her time as a Brownie and continuing through her adult life as a senior leader and volunteer. Some of her Girl Scout achievements include earning a Gold Award during high school, being a counselor at Camp Katoya, organizing many events including Haunted Hikes, leading workshops, assisting scout troops, participating in several International Camporees, and traveling with Girl Scout troops nationally and internationally. She served on the executive board of the Girl Scouts of Housatonic Counsel for twelve years, including six years as President. She earned the Thanks Badge as an adult volunteer; she is also a lifetime member of GSUSA.
Loretta was an avid and accomplished photographer and truly loved every aspect of photography. She was a member of the president’s committee at the New England Camera Club Council’s (NECCC) three-day conferences for many years. Her contributions included lending cameras and lenses, introducing speakers, and recently helping with registration and meals for speakers, board members, and committees. She had earned the honorary title of Master Member of NECCC for her dedication to teaching and promotion of photography. Loretta was treasurer of the Milford Camera Club and the CT Association of Photographers. She won many awards from interclub, state, and New England competitions, as well as from the Photographic Society of America, including Best of Show at the Durham and North Haven Agricultural Fairs. Loretta also enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband to focus on photography classes.
Loretta loved attending hockey games, especially the Sound Tigers, with her husband and friends.
In addition to her husband and mother, Loretta is survived by her siblings, Cindy (John) Cody, Terry (David) Toole, Sharon Paul, Maureen Paul, and Greg (MaryBeth) Paul; her nieces and nephews, Shawn and Christopher Cody; Shannon, Colleen, and Brian Toole; William and Cadence Paul; her aunts and uncles, Rose and Richard Nemec and Barbara Nemec; her step-daughters, Alexandra and Kathryn Goldin; and her very dear friend, Pam Pinto. Loretta was predeceased by her father, J. Robert ‘Bob’ Paul, and her uncle, John Nemec.

Deloris Hurd
Deloris “Dee” Hurd, age 97, went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 19, 2022, with her daughters Barbara and Sue by her side.
Dee was born in Wisconsin on March 8, 1925, to Reinhold and Dorothy Steinke. She was the oldest of six children. She is survived by her brother, Ardel Steinke and sister, Veda Schultz.
Deloris is survived by her daughters, Barbara Eberstadt, grandson Peter and his wife Amanda Eberstadt and great grandson, Otis; Sue Schoultz and her husband Scott, and grandson Vincent and his wife Alexandra Schoultz; and stepdaughters Carol Goslee and Robin Bouchard.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bob Hurd; grandson, Rudy Eberstadt; and stepson Don Hurd as well as siblings Al Steinke, Lee Olufson, and Gloria Guyette.
While raising her three children, she volunteered with their schools, boy and girl scouts, and on the board of the Nichols Improvement Association while working full time as an office manager. Following retirement, Dee volunteered with the Milford Senior Center and served on the board of her homeowner’s association. She has been a resident of Milford for close to 40 years.
A private internment will be held at Lawn Cemetery in Huntington. Friends are invited to share in a celebration of her life on Saturday, August 27 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ocean Crest Condominium Club House, 330 Merwin Avenue, Milford.

Bruce S. Kuryla
Bruce S. Kuryla of Milford, CT passed away on Sept. 1, 2022. Born June 18, 1943 to Henry and Doris (Nisbet) Kuryla in Hartford, CT, Bruce was a lifelong resident of Milford.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 27 years, Janet (Bourdeau); his four children: Bruce (Carol), Alison, Kevin (Jen) and William; he was “Papa Bruce” to his nine grandchildren Jessica, Bruce, Bryce, Kelly, Thomas, Kevin Jr., Liam, Aidan and Ciara; his brother Henry, his sister Kathy (Francis), stepbrothers Michael and Fritz Warnstedt; his stepchildren: Eric (Karin) Swanson, Kristen (Chris) DeMaio, David Swanson and grandchildren: Lauren and Jenna Swanson, Jillian, Carly, and Ava DeMaio, Finn and Owen Swanson.
He was an avid sportsman, outdoorsman and supporter of all things sailing. As a Boy Scout, he attended Camp Sequassen in the summers and a European Jamboree in 1957, earning the highest distinction of Eagle Scout. As a father, he was an avid co-designer of high-tech Boy Scout pinewood derby cars and science fair projects. At Christmas he helped all the grandchildren build their Lego or Playmobile toys.
A graduate of Milford High School Class of 1961, he excelled at athletics: track, basketball, an All-State athlete in football, and swimming with records in the breaststroke. He attended the Hopkins School in New Haven in 1962 on a scholarship where he played football before starting a family with his former wife, Gail (Patry).
With a keen engineering and creative mind, Bruce was driven, ambitious, and entrepreneurial throughout his career. He began working at Avco; then at his father’s company Connecticut Tool Design; followed by his own company based on novel hotel telephone and switching system design for which he was granted a patent (with his young children thrilled to be part of the production line). Bruce founded Northeastern Telephone, one of the first independent telephone companies in the country. For over seven years, he pursued and won a landmark anti-trust case against the Bell System (which was later overturned on appeal by a large group of Bell System attorneys and the case was referenced in some college economics classes). Bruce named his sailboat “PABX” (“private automatic branch exchange”: an automatic telephone switching system) to promote conversation about his company. Bruce owned and operated Port Milford for nearly 40 years before his retirement to his porch overlooking Long Island Sound, where Janet and he hosted his annual 4th of July parties.
Bruce’s great passion was sailboat racing. He competed throughout the Northeast and Florida including the Southern Ocean Racing Circuit. He was an outstanding navigator and there was nothing he enjoyed more than winning races on Defiant and Secret alongside his son, Bruce, (referred to as B1 & B2 respectively). Together with their friends/crew, they won three U.S. Offshore Championships in Annapolis, eleven Eastern Connecticut Overall Championships and numerous other races. Bruce was the Milford Harbormaster from 2012 to present; a member of Milford Yacht Club since childhood, serving as Rear Commodore, Director, Club Historian; an active member of Windjammers Sailing Club and a Director of the Milford Sailing Foundation.
Bruce was the anchor in a storm and the lighthouse that provided direction on the darkest or foggiest night. He was fiercely loyal to his loved ones and friends. He was a man of few, but direct and insightful words and always said, “you have two ears and one mouth for a reason.” Bruce will be sorely missed by many and will always be held close in the hearts of his family.

Margaret C. (Martin) (Byron) Lewis
Margaret C. (Martin) Lewis, age 94 of Wilton, beloved wife of the late Gerard H. Lewis and Raymond J. Martin, died on Monday, September 5, 2022. Margaret was born in Bridgeport on June 10, 1928 to the late William Sr. and Margaret O’Connell Byron. Survivors include her children: Deborah Ann Patterson (John) of Milford, Christopher B. Martin (Patricia) of Shelton, Michael J. Martin (Gina) of Milford and Gregory A. Martin (Ida) of Huntington, brother, John T. Byron of FL, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Margaret is predeceased by her brothers, William G. Byron Jr., and Robert D. Byron.

Ann M. Lynch
Ann M. Lynch, 67, of Milford, passed away peacefully at CT Hospice in Branford. Born in Bridgeport, Ct on January 20, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Ann (Evanick) Lynch.
Ann graduated from Notre Dame High School and went on to obtain her BA of the Arts from Sacred Heart University. She worked as a credit analyst for both People’s Bank and Citizen’s Bank until her retirement.
Ann is survived by her husband, Andrew Ocetnik, and her sister, Kathleen Lynch of Hartford, CT.

Joan A. McCarson
Joan A. McCarson, 76, of Orange, beloved wife of the late William (Cookie) McCarson, Sr., passed away on September 12, 2022. Born on May 2, 1946 in New Haven, CT, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Anna Trufan.
Joan graduated high school in Miami FL, retired from Cantor, Floman Law Offices where she was a closing secretary for residential and commercial properties. Joan loved to garden, cook, bake, and take the occasional trip to the Casinos with her sister Martha and Martha’s husband, Joseph.
Joan is survived by her son, William (Laurel) McCarson, Jr.; her granddaughter, Emma McCarson; her siblings and in-laws, Henry Trufan , Martha Sincavage, Sue Trufan and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joan was predeceased by her brother, Donald Trufan; her brother-in-law, Joseph Sincavage; and her daughter, Melissa D. McCarson.

Robert Morgan
Robert “Bob” Morgan, 88, of Milford, beloved husband of Mary (Maura) Morgan, passed away peacefully at home on September 16, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 20, 1934 in Belfast, Ireland, he was the son of the late John and Annie Morgan.
Bob came to this Country in 1958 and proudly served in the United States Army. Bob and his family moved from Bronx, NY to Milford, CT in 1975. He worked for The Hartford Insurance Group for 37 years before retiring. After retirement, Bob started his second career volunteering at various organizations; such as Milford Hospital, Beth El Soup Kitchen, American Red Cross, St. Agnes Men’s Club and The Thomas Merton Center. When Bob wasn’t busy volunteering, he enjoyed traveling with his wife of 58 years, golfing and spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren. Bob was very well known in his community and never met a stranger. He was referred to as “Mayor of Milford” by his friends. Bob was a proud resident of Milford and all that Milford offered.
Along with his wife, Bob is survived by his children, Robert M. Morgan, Kathleen (Terry) King, Patrice (Michael) Gorman, Deirdre (John) Virgalla, and Brendan Morgan (Sandra Testo); grandchildren, Brigid (Chester Burnett), Shannon, and Caitlin King, Michael (Caitlynn Murphy), Ryan, and Meghan Gorman, Brenna and Joseph Virgalla, and Keaton Testo; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his seven brothers and sisters.

Dennis Albert Murray
Dennis A. Murray, 60, of Orange, beloved husband of Beth (Maurer) Murray, passed away on August 30, 2022. Born on May 3, 1962 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of Mary Jane (McManus) Murray and the late William Murray.
He was a graduate of Milford High School. He worked at and later became part owner of Maurer Metalcraft, Inc. and Valley Tool & Mfg., Inc., and retired in December of 2016. He loved working in the manufacturing field and often said he was luckier than most because he was able to do something he loved and excelled at it. Dennis enjoyed gardening, a love that was passed down from his father, and recently found a new interest in wood working. His greatest love, however, were his kids and grandkids.
Dennis is survived by six children in his blended family: Dennis T. Murray and wife Natalie, Lauren (Murray) Wlodarski and husband Mathew, Courtney Murray, Amber (Mason) Hickey and husband James, Alyssa Cretella and fiancé Robert Callahan, and Stephen Cretella. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren that were his entire world: Anneliese, Emma, Greyson, Charlie, James, Brogan, Violet and Jack. Dennis is survived by five siblings, Karen (Murray) Nemeth and husband Donald, William Murray Jr and wife Dawn, Michael Murray and wife Lauren, Colleen Zacarelli (Murray) and husband Wayne, Kathleen Kilian (Murray) and husband Craig. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Ida Nicolelli
Ida Nicolelli, age 91, of West Haven passed away on September 16, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late Martin Nicolelli Sr. Ida was born in West Haven, daughter of the late Ralph and Albina Montesi Livieri. She is survived by her sons, Marty (Toni) Nicolelli of North Haven and David (Maria) Nicolelli of West Haven, her grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer) Nicolelli, Jennifer (Roy) Wantanabe, Olivia and Jake Nicolelli and her brother Samuel (Nancy) Livieri of Woodbridge. She was predeceased by her brothers, Arthur, Mario and John Livieri. Ida was a longtime member of the West Haven Italian American Club and the West Haven Seniors. She enjoyed playing bingo in her spare time, but she always looked forward to her Sunday morning breakfast with her family.
Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 8:30-9:30 at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Her funeral procession will then leave the funeral at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of St. Louis, Saint John XXIII at 10am. Mary T. O’Connor
Mary Theresa O’ Connor passed away peacefully on September 15, 2022, she was born on November 3, 1945 in New Haven Connecticut. She was the daughter of the late Martin O’ Connor and Helen Garrity.
Mary grew up in Milford, Connecticut with her parents Marty and Helen and her younger brother John. Living at the beach in Bayview was Mary’s life and joy. Summers were filled with friends and family who converged on the O‘Connor household for weekend clam bakes. She was an avid swimmer and lifeguard at Bayview beach.
I met Mary 24 years ago, when she invited me to join the sailors of the Milford Yacht Club. We fell in love and were married in 2006. We had a wonderful life together. I loved her, dearly. I always will.
Mary’s life was always filled with activity. She worked in New York, lived in Los Angeles and traveled to nearly every CBS TV and radio station in the country for her work.

Kenneth John Papcun, 59, of Milford, passed away on August 26, 2022 at his home. Born on May 10, 1963 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of Anthony and Christine (Wiggins) Papcun, III.
Ken was a hard worker and known to give a helping hand to family and friends in need. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also loved cars especially his Dodge charger.
In addition to his parents, Ken is survived by his son, Christopher Papcun; his brother and sister- in-law, Rich (Nicole) Papcun, his brother in law Kyle Brotherton his nieces Madeline an Samantha Papcun, Jillian Brotherton and nephew Lucas Brotherton, aunts and uncles, William Wiggins, Bill (Marilyn) Papcun, Sue (Ron) Andrews, Lily (Pete) Keogh, and Mable and Sherry Papcun; and many cousins, extended family members and friends, and Correen Cooper mother to his son. Theodore Louis Pappas
Theodore “Ted” L. Pappas, 73, of Milford, beloved husband of Dorcee-Ann (Smith) Pappas, passed away on August 21, 2022. Born on April 29, 1949 in New Haven, he was the son of the late George and Dorothy Pappas.
Ted graduated from Amity Regional Senior High in 1967 and then attended Norwalk State Technical College where he received his associate’s degree in 1971. In January of 2010 Ted retired from SNET/SBC/AT&T after 38 years as an IT Manager. After retirement he enjoyed spending his time playing golf and traveling with his wife Dorcee as well as family and friends. In later years you would often find him working with his brother Mike doing a variety of jobs, where Ted wouldn’t miss the chance to introduce himself as “The younger better looking brother!”
In addition to his wife Dorcee of 47 years, Ted is survived by his two daughters, Elizabeth-Ann Pappas and Bryan Hall Sr. of West Haven and Sarah Beth Garrison of Milford; brothers, Michael and Gail Pappas of Guilford and Paul and Lesley Pappas of Plymouth, NC; sister and brother-in-law and best friend, Peggy and Jack Mentes of Burlington, VT; step grandchildren, Samantha and Bryan Hall Jr. of Monroe; nieces and nephews Amanda and Mike Yoder, Rebecca and Jim Dumais, Andrew and Casey Pappas, David and April Pappas, Kristy and Bryan Cederholm, Greg Pappas, Jay and Tara Mentes and Amy Mentes and Ron Wanamaker. Gerard B. Patton
Our father, Gerard “Jerry” Patton, 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather – and much-devoted citizen of Milford – passed away at Connecticut Hospice in Branford on Monday, August 29, 2022 following a long illness.
Jerry was born in Yonkers, NY on January 17, 1933; the youngest of five rambunctious, Irish sons, to the late John Maynard Patton and Mary (Mae) (McCormack) Patton. Upon graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard; after an honorable discharge he married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara (Diane) Doebler, on January 3, 1953.
The Coast Guard may have initially brought them to Connecticut, but they fell in love with the state during the years while Dad studied engineering at UConn. Degree in hand, they moved to Milford in 1959 – where they resided ever more.
To feed his growing family, Dad changed careers and joined Russ Clarke Real Estate in 1965. Russ was a descendant of early Milford settlers, and he became dad’s mentor. Dad developed a deep love for his adopted town while driving it’s streets with Russ, and listening to all the ‘old-timer’ stories Russ had to tell. And, finding his vocation, Dad took over the agency upon Mr. Clarke’s retirement in 1970.
Dad immersed himself in his community, serving with many civic organizations (The Lions Club and Rotary, to name just two). Still inspired by one of his favorite boyhood films, “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington”, he took a path into politics, a path that included a proud five terms representing Milford in the Connecticut General Assembly.
He and his family were proud of many of his accomplishments in the legislature. In particular, inspired by the work of his brother Richie, Dad was able to pass a bill mandating life-saving sprinklers in high rise buildings, hotels and motels, convalescent homes and senior housing projects.
He did take a run at higher office, as a candidate for Congress in 1988. While his campaign fell short, he was proud of the opportunity it provided to meet Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush – one of our family’s treasured mementos is a photo of our parents with George and Barbara taken at the Bush family home in Kennebunkport.
But in many ways Dad’s proudest public accomplishments came outside of politics. He worked with Milford’s Stephen Stowe Society to develop the town’s first homeless shelter – perhaps in honor of his mother, who took into her own Depression-era home many people who had nowhere else to go, Dad often waking to find strangers sleeping on couches and floors in his home.
A love of travel and a curiosity in the greater world led Jerry and Diane to acquire a travel agency in the late 70s. They began traveling the world, visiting dozens of other countries, fascinated by all of the different communities and cultures to be found on earth. But none of this slowed Dad down from his many civic concerns.
Dad’s later projects were especially close to his heart, inspired by his love of history and his affinity for his adopted city. He noted that when the rest of the nation was 99% wilderness, Milford was already a thriving village. Hence, he joined the efforts to ensure that Milford’s nearly four centuries of history was preserved. Working with the Rotary, he embarked on the Milford Memories Project, interviewing many of the town’s elder statesmen and women, preserving their stories for posterity; those videotapes are part of the collection at Milford Public Library.
Finally, he enlisted other equally dedicated Milford citizens in the founding of the Milford Hall of Fame, and served as its first Chairman. The results are on proud display in the town’s Parson’s Complex.
This humble Irish son of a loving Irish mother has certainly left his mark on the town he loved.
Dad is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Diane; daughter Cynthia Vere and her husband Wayne, who were of particular loving support to Dad and Mom in their later years; son Kevin Patton; daughter Susan Fox and her husband Robert Fox; son Kerry Patton and his partner Susan McGuire; and daughter Cheryl Patton. He also leaves nine grieving grandchildren and an ever-growing number of great-grandchildren. (His grandkids will especially miss his wink and grin as he magically found the spot in the crumbcake where the crumbs were this thickest.) He is also survived by his brother Richard.
Jerry leaves behind a rich legacy, full of love, dedication, honor – and more than little Irish humor. His family was blessed immensely with his life, and for that we are deeply thankful.

Margaret “Peggy” (Neville) Perlis
Margaret “Peggy” (Neville) Perlis, age 77 of Stratford and previously of Milford and West Haven, beloved wife of the late Stanley Perlis, entered eternal rest on September 5, 2022. Peggy was born in Boston, MA on September 10, 1944 to the late John and Margaret (Mahoney) Neville.
Peggy graduated from Marian High School Class of 1962, and Robie Secretarial School in 1964 and loved her years as an Executive Assistant at various companies, including E&L Instruments and the North Carolina Zoo. Her friendly personality was one of her best traits, and she was known for faithfully sending greeting cards for all occasions to friends & family. She was a former parishioner of Christ the Redeemer Church for several decades where she was a past member of the Ladies Guild and met some of her dearest friends. Peggy dealt with many health problems and she always persevered through more than most could imagine during her adult life, without complaining. She will be forever remembered for her smile and thoughtfulness.
Survivors include a beloved daughter, Rachael (Perlis) Klotzberger and her husband David of Milford; two loving brothers, Paul Neville and his wife, Debbie of Bristol, NH and Neil Neville and his wife, Rita of Lady Lake, FL; and a cherished granddaughter, Taylor Klotzberger. She also leaves several in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and longtime cherished friends whom she loved dearly.

Sharon M. Riegert, 74, of Milford, beloved wife of Alfred Riegert, passed away on August 20, 2022 at CT Hospice. Born on March 3, 1948 in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late Erwin Hollis Westover and Eva Marion (Alexander) Westover.
Sharon worked at SNET for 30 years. She loved cats and enjoyed spending her time reading.

Thomas Patrick Ryan
Thomas Patrick Ryan, 80, of Milford passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 11, 2022. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Celicia Ryan, brothers John and Denis, and sister Rosemary. He left behind his wife of 56 years Sandra; his children and their spouses Denise Hofrichter (Mike), Joseph (Deanne), Kevin (Ellen), and Anne Spoerndle (Matt); and his pride and joy, seven grand-children – Elizabeth, Aidan, Colin, Luke, Julia, Avery, and Connor.
Tom grew up in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Brooklyn Tech. After graduation he joined the Army and spent most of his time in Germany during the Vietnam War. Once he returned, he met his beautiful wife, Sandra, and began his 30-year carrier at Southern Connecticut Gas Company. Once married they moved to Milford and raised their family.

David Anthony Samelwich
In addition to his beloved wife of 46 years, Dave is survived by his children, Lisa (Jared) Moretti, and Anthony (Amber Hawks) Samelwich; his grandchildren, Macallen and Piper; and his many nieces and nephews. Dave was predeceased by his siblings, Robert Samelwich, James Samelwich, and Rosemary Woods.
Dave studied tree sciences at the Davey Institute in 1978 and worked for Davey Tree as a foreman. Dave was the owner and operator of David’s Landscaping until his illness in 2007. He loved to go fishing and hunting. He was an avid sports fan, watching NASCAR, the Yankees and the Giants. Dave enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

Pasquale Scirocco
Pat, as he was known to friends and family, was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Hamden to his late parents Giuseppe and Angelina. He was one of five children.
Pat attended Hamden High School, where he excelled at industrial arts. He graduated in 1943 and was immediately drafted into the U.S. Navy. Over the next three years, he served with distinction on the USS Charles Carroll in the Pacific Theater. He then returned to Connecticut and married his sweetheart, Carmel Ornato, on June 12, 1948. They settled in West Haven and raised three children.
Both Pat and Carmel worked at Robby Len in New Haven until their retirement. Pat was a gifted mechanic who enjoyed working on car engines, small motors, sewing machines — anything with his hands. He was also very involved with the West Haven Italian-American Civic Association and served as its president in 1987.
Even prior to retirement, Pat loved showering his grandchildren with attention. From family vacations to holiday parties, Pat and Carmel’s home was consistently filled with love and adoration.
In his later years, and especially after Carmel’s passing in 2013 at the age of 87, Pat stayed sharp by doing puzzles and spending time with family. Christmas was a particularly special occasion, when several generations of Pat’s family would gather to celebrate.
Pat is survived by his son, Pasquale, of West Haven; two daughters, Paula Scalisi of Naugatuck and Judy Battaglia and her husband Anthony of Middlebury; and four grandchildren, Patrick Scalisi and his partner Crystal Cassetori of Naugatuck, Kaitlyn Scalisi and her partner Brendan O’Grady of Dobbs Ferry, NY, Dominic Battaglia of Boston and Gabriella Battaglia of Austin, Texas. He was a special grandfather to Tom, Chrissy, and Kayla Kavanaugh of West Haven, and will be fondly remembered by close family friend Shelly Renzulli of Hamden.
Pat is predeceased by Carmel, his wife of 64 years, and his siblings: Frank Scirocco, Clem LaBanca, Angie Migliozzi, and Annibale “Henry” Scirocco.
Visitation will take place on Thursday Sept.15, 2022 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John XXIII Parish, St. Louis Church at 10:30. Entombment, with military honors, will follow in the Garden Mausoleum, St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Patricia “Pat” Shanley
It is with profound sadness we announce Patricia Shanley has entered Eternal Rest. Born in Bronx, New York, beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Sally Fohs. Patricia was blessed with a marriage of 67 years to John Shanley, Sr., before his passing in 2016. Together they raised five children in Laurel Beach of Milford and the family they created has grown and grown in unfathomable love. Left to cherish incredible memories are their children John (Debra) Shanley, Jr., Shaileen (Timothy) Tracy, Suzanne Swan, Thomas (Janet) Shanley, and Patrice Shanley. Blessed with 14 grandchildren: Stacey, Sean, and Tyler Shanley; Kaitlin (Tory) Jacob; Tim (Hilary) Tracy; Sheena Verderame; Colleen (Kyle) Kendall; Zack (Lori) Swan; Maggie Swan; and Kelly and Bridget Shanley. Additionally, Sandra (Brian) Dupre, Cathleen (Gregory) Vuich, Tara (Robert) Tyson. Her greatest joys were 19 great grandchildren: Brayden, Rylan, Kaylie Jacob; Declan and Finley Tracy; Landon and Emily Verderame; Chloe, Kaden and McKenzie Kendall; and Ryder Swan. Also, Brian Jr., Sean, and Meghan Dupre; Steven Asby, Lillian and Jack Vuich; and Macy and Marcus Tyson.
Her “family” included her Laurel Beach community all near and dear as well as her friends in Fort Meyers, Florida where their love of sand, sea, and sunsets extended during the winters. Pat’s true love was spending time with her family. Tennis, swimming, and beach enjoyment has been passed down for generations. However, no-one could be heard cheering Notre Dame football more enthusiastically.
Pat was pre-deceased by her parents, sister and brother-in-law Nancy and James Trapp. As well as brother-in-law Alfred (Anne) Shanley and sisters-in-law Elizabeth (John) Harvey, Anne (Leonard) Glancy, and Margaret Shanley, and son-in-law Francis “Zack” Swan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated by Monsignor James Shanley, her nephew, at Saint Gabriel Church (St. Raphael Parish), 26 Broadway, Milford. (Meet directly at church) on Monday September 19, 2022, at 10 am. Friends and family may call on Sunday, September 18, 2022 from 3-5 pm at CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad Street, Milford. Interment will immediately follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Avenue, Milford. Lawrence J. Solkoske Jr.
Lawrence J. Solkoske Jr, 80, of Milford, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 15, 2022. Born on November 29, 1941 in New Haven, he was the son of the late Lawrence J. Solkoske Sr. and Alice (Murray) Solkoske.
Larry was a graduate of West Haven High School, class of 1959. After graduation, he joined the construction trade and became a member of Heat & Frost Asbestos Workers, Local 33, where he worked for over 40 years. A devoted father, Larry loved watching his son play hockey and helping his daughter with her school work and projects. He retired in 2002, and enjoyed going on day trips, concerts, and shows. Larry was a fan of all sports, and loved UCONN basketball. He attended the women’s Final Four several times. He was an animal lover, and had several dogs over the years. His most recent loyal companion and best friend was a shih tzu named Patches. Larry’s biggest love was his grandchildren. He was very proud of them, and looked forward to spending time with them.
Lawrence is survived by his daughter Susan Foss and her husband Benjamin Foss, his son James Solkoske, his grandchildren Nicholas and Jessica Foss and Ryan Solkoske, and several nieces and nephews.

Paul “Paulie” Anthony Weiss
Paul Anthony Weiss, known as Paulie to his family and friends, 69, of Port St. Lucie, FL passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 26, 2022, in Stuart, FL.
Paul was born on February 11, 1953, in Bridgeport, CT to the late Anthony and Ruthe Weiss. He worked in Bridgeport, CT as a Special Police Officer at the University of Bridgeport for 15 years. Before retiring, Paul worked as a heavy equipment operator for 28 years at the town of Fairfield, CT. He then moved to Port St. Lucie, FL in October of 2018 with his beloved wife, Linda. Paul was a former member of Park City Pride Drum & Bugle Corps.
Paulie was a kind soul who touched so many here on earth. He was a wonderful caring nurturing husband and father. He never left the room without making someone smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony, and Ruthe Weiss; and nephew, Stephen Kurzela.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife Linda Marie Totten Weiss; He was the very proud father of Brittany Weiss (Chad Reeve), David Weiss (Liz Perez), and Kirstin Weiss (Dinis Silva); adored grandfather of Tyler Reeve. Paul is also survived by his stepson William Totten; previous wife, Beth Piazza; and many loving family members and friends.

Bruce Edward Wiggins
Bruce Edward Wiggins, 72, of Waterbury, Connecticut and formerly of Milford, Connecticut beloved brother of Nancy Wiggins Zellner of Milford passed away on August 18, 2022 after a long illness at Mattatuck Health Care Facility in Waterbury.
He was born on November 25, 1949 in Milford, Connecticut. He was predeceased by his father, Everitt C. Wiggins and mother, Edith Paul Wiggins. He served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Ranger in the Pacific during the Vietnam Conflict.
In addition to his sister, Nancy, he is survived by his nephews Scott Zellner and his wife Julie of Wallingford, CT and Travis Zellner and his wife Pamela of Uxbridge, MA. He is also survived by his cousin, Barbara Roberts of Florida and his great nephews and nieces, Miia, Richard, Joseph, Sarah and James Zellner.
Bruce will be interred at Kings Highway Cemetery in Milford with his parents at the convenience of the family.
Elizabeth Frances Wilson
For nearly 60 years, Betsy was married to the love of her life, Ernest (Ernie) Wilson. They made their first home in West Haven, later moving to Milford before retiring to Enfield. After taking time off to be a full-time mom, Betsy worked as a lunch aide for the West Haven Public Schools, an assembler for New England Control and as an associate at Stop & Shop in both Milford and Enfield, running the salad bar for the produce department.
Betsy Wilson is survived by her loving husband, Ernie; three daughters, Grace Wilson of Middletown, CT, Amy Wilson Connors and her husband, Tim Connors of Hamden, CT, and Karen Wilson Majkut and her husband, Keith Majkut of Dunstable, MA. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Beatrice Matarazzo, Nicole Matarazzo Patenaude, Anna Marie Matarazzo, Benjamin Majkut and Susanna Majkut. She leaves behind several sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, many nieces and nephews as well as 4 great-grandchildren.
Betsy loved taking day trips all around Connecticut and New England with Ernie, her children and grandchildren, enjoying train rides, fishing adventures, the beach and seeing historic sites. Betsy was active in all of her grandchildren’s lives and loved being around them. She was the reigning Parcheesi champion for many years, teaching all of her grandchildren how to play. She was an avid Greenbay Packers “Cheesehead” and a New York Mets fan. Betsy was a communicant of St Gabriel’s Church, singing in the choir there for many years. After moving to Enfield, Betsy attended St. Jeanne Jugan Parish at Holy Family Church.

Doris Beck Zeid
Doris Beck Zeid, 93, beloved wife of the late Louis Zeid, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2022 at the Linden in Woodbridge, CT.
She was born December 7, 1928 to the late Beatrice and Irving Beck and lived in New Haven, where she took great pride in raising her family. Doris was a dedicated volunteer at the Jewish Home for the Aged in New Haven for many years.
Doris is survived by her brother, Stuart Beck; beloved sons, Dr. Ira J. Zeid (Karen), David F. Zeid (Eileen); grandchildren, Emily Z, Schimelman (Benjamin), Joshua Zeid (Stephanie), Zachary Zeid and Tasha Zeid; and adoring great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Laila Schimelman and Parker and Barrett Zeid.
A Private Graveside Funeral will be held at Congregation B’nai Jacob Memorial Park.
