George P. Allen Sr.
George P. Allen Sr. passed away peacefully on April 17, 2023, at his home in Milford, CT. George was born on February 7, 1951, in New Haven CT and was raised by the late Lawrence and Mary Lang. George is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Marjorie.
George served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. After his service, he went on to become a machinist for Prestige Tools. He also worked as a Game Warden for the City of Milford for many years.
In his free time, he could often be found fishing or boating with his family on warm summer days. He was an avid baseball fan. The N.Y. Yankees were always his favorite team to cheer on. George was a quiet and loyal man with a heart of gold, whose heart beat for his grandchildren. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
In addition to his beloved wife Marjorie, he is survived by their two sons: George Jr (Jamie) of Tewkesbury, MA and Jon (Julie) of Clinton, CT, four grandchildren: Chloe, Jon Jr., Mackenzie, Charlotte, and his beloved Scottish terrier Pippa Louise who was always by his side.
A Memorial Service Gathering will be held on Tuesday April 25, 2023, at Cody White Funeral Home (107 Broad St, Milford CT 06460) from 4 to 7 p.m. Military honors will be held at 6:15 p.m. with a prayer service to follow.

Salvatore A. Attianese Sr.
Salvatore A. Attianese Sr., age 86, of Orange passed away on April 9, 2023. He was born in New Haven, son of the late Aniello and Anna Attianese. Sal is survived by his son, Salvatore Attianese Jr., his former wife, Judy Reale Attianese, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Daniel, Henry, Alphonse, Harry, & Joseph Attianese and Ann Attianese Florio. Sal was a proud US Army Veteran, serving during the Cold War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0159 and the VFW 7788, where he was the permittee for 20 years. Sal was an avid sports fan. He rooted for the NY Yankees, NY Football Giants, UConn Men’s and Women’s Basketball. Sal was an active member of Planet Fitness in Orange.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday April 15th at Holy Infant Church at 10am, Military Honors will follow. Interment will be private in the family plot. E. Patrick Austin
Edward Patrick “Pat” Austin, 49, of Milford, tragically passed away on April 7, 2023. He was born on March 25, 1974 in New Haven the son of Edward T. Austin and Joan Aspinwall Austin. He was a lifelong Milford resident.
Pat was a 1993 graduate of Notre Dame Catholic High School in Fairfield, CT where he was a member of the hockey team. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies from Southern CT State University. Pat worked for the Town of Redding Park and Recreation Department and the Boys and Girls Club before returning to his roots in the City of Milford Recreation Department where he served the community as a Recreation Supervisor for 22 years. He directed many programs for youths and adults throughout his career. Pat was also very involved with the Connecticut ASA softball association as an umpire for 15 years. He was also the Executive Secretary and the Player Representative of the organization. He was also a registered umpire with the National ASA Umpire Association.
Pat was an avid Red Sox fan and also loved the NY Rangers. He was a talented cook who also loved traveling, planning get togethers, and attending music and sporting events. Mostly, he was completely devoted to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by the many who loved him.
Along with his father, Pat is survived by his beloved daughter, Abigeàl Austin and her mother, Patty Fitzsimons; sister, Katie (Darryl) Gaetano; girlfriend, Meghan Puvogel; niece, Madelyn Gaetano; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends. Pat was preceded in death by his mother.

Kay Brotherton
Kay Brotherton, 78, of Milford, beloved wife of the late William Bunker Brotherton, Jr., passed away on April 28, 2023. Born on March 20, 1945 in Milford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Carl E. and Catherine (O’Sullivan) Brunzell.
Kay is survived by her children, Scott (Donna) Brotherton, Kyle Brotherton, Lois (Kevin) Daigle, and Shaun Brotherton; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Hilma, Anne, and Karla; her sisters-in-law, Barbara (Robert) Oliver and Kathleen (Robert) Hunter, and her many beloved cats. In addition to her husband, Kay was predeceased by her son, William “Billy” Brotherton, III, and daughter-in-law, Vicky Brotherton.

Mary Brown
Mary L. Brown, 94, of Orange beloved wife of the late Donald Brown, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 2, 2023. Born on November 2, 1928 in Fairfield, CT, she was the daughter of the late George and Catherine (Leahy) Schumann.
Mary worked at Robert Shaw Controls in Milford, CT where she served as a union representative until retirement in 1988. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, reading, baking, coloring and putting together jigsaw puzzles with her family. Most of all she treasured time spent with family. She entertained family every weekend, whether it was Sunday dinner in the fall or backyard barbecues in summer, followed by some seriously intense pinocle games on the back porch.
Mary is survived by her loving daughters, Catherine (Joe) McKenzie, Suzanne (Fred) Hewig, Donna (Robert) Vreeland, Brenda (Cliff) Hotchkiss, Carolyne (Ted) Maniscalco, and her son-in-law Vito Sciascia; her grandchildren, Melissa Roberts, Donald Sciascia, James Sciascia, Matthew McKenzie, Michael Sciascia, Jennifer Vreeland, Mary Sa, Stephanie Hotchkiss, Brittany DePonte, Nicholas Maniscalco, and step grandchildren Kristen Miceli, and Michelle Hewig; her 12 great-grandchildren; and her brother, William Schumann. Mary was predeceased by her daughter, Sharon Sciascia, and her siblings, Frances Schumann and George Schumann.

Joseph Anthony Chiarelli
Joseph Anthony Chiarelli, age 64 of Milford, beloved husband for 40 years of Christine Steiniger Chiarelli, died on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Joseph was born in New Rochelle, NY on May 24, 1958, to the late Angelo and Theresa Aronne Chiarelli. He worked in retail for many years. Joe loved music, marvel comics and was a huge Beatles fan. His family was everything and he will be dearly missed by all of them.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Christine, include his five children: Joseph Chiarelli of West Haven, Erik Chiarelli of FL, Amy Goyette (Josh) of Milford, Emily Chiarelli of Philadelphia, Elizabeth Notarangelo (Corey) of Harrisburg, two beloved grandchildren, Leo and Anthony Notarangelo, brother, Anthony Chiarelli of New York and sister, Lori Kearns (Patrick) of NY and two nieces and one nephew.

Mary Conklin
Mary Rose Conklin (Slocum), 87, of Milford passed away peacefully on March 29, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. She was born on March 14, 1936 in Brattleboro, Vermont to Sherman and Lydia Slocum.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dean Conklin; her parents; brothers Elwin, Edwin, Everett, Sherman; sisters Anna, Harriet, Ruth, Rosa (Betty); and stepchildren Lynn and Wayne VanDemark. She is survived by her children, Denis (Judy) Haley, Denise Haley, and Andrew VanDemark Jr.; grandchildren, Kyle (Jessica) Sewick, Marisa (Jorge) Rosario, and Kasey (Jowie) Sewick; great grandchildren, Jestiq Sewick and Violet Rosario; brother, Sonny; and many extended family.
Anyone that knew Mary knows she was a dedicated bingo player, a devout New York Mets and Uconn Women’s Basketball fan, and her love for her Grand and Great-Grandchildren was boundless. She spent a large part of her adulthood corralling and spoiling the many children that passed through the doors of her daycare. When she wasn’t busy cleaning, feeding, or changing a diaper, she somehow managed – without ever having a license or driving a car – to scour every store she could in search for the newest fad or toy that her grandchildren showed even the mildest interest in. Mary was almost always unreachable between 4 and 9:30pm, almost 7 nights a week, while she graced her home away from home – the many Bingo Halls of Milford, Stratford, and Derby. In search of a round-robin, postage stamp, kite, or cover-all, you could be sure to hear a dabber come crashing down to the table when anybody that wasn’t her shouted “BINGO!” – stealing the game from her, of course, just before they could call her number. She was also never one to shy away from a good game of Pinochle, Yahtzee, or Go Fish.
When not cheering for her beloved Mets or UConn Women, she could be found poring over her countless word search puzzles or intently watching the Game Show Network. After her retirement, Mary began volunteering her time at the Milford Senior Center selling lunch tickets and was honored by the Senior Center, being awarded Volunteer of the Year 3 times. Mary was a kind and compassionate soul who always put her family and others above herself and she will be greatly missed.
A Graveside Service will take place on April 17th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford (MEET DIRECTLY AT THE CEMETERY). Donald P. Crowell
Donald Paul Crowell, 95, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2023, at Civita Care Center at West River in Milford, CT.
Don was born and raised in Massillon, Ohio. After serving in the Navy, he was honorably discharged in 1946 when his ship, the USS Apollo, was decommissioned. Don stayed in New London and enrolled in Mitchell College. After two years he transferred to Kent State University in Ohio and graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in education. He returned to Massillon and taught there for three years. Don moved back to CT, taught in New London, and then accepted a job in Fairfield at Roger Ludlowe High School. He taught history at RLHS and then became a guidance counselor. In 1989, Don retired from Middlebury/Southbury, Region 15, as the interim superintendent. While working in Middlebury/Southbury, Don was the head of the guidance counselors. During the whole course of his career, Don was passionate about working with and mentoring both educators and students.
Throughout his life, Don enjoyed traveling, reading, and loved listening to music, from Beethoven to Bob Dylan. In fact, when family and friends would call, they would frequently hear Don say, “Hold on, let me turn down the music.” Don also did an amazing job researching his family roots. Often on his trips out to see his Michigan and Ohio families he would make stops along the way to follow up on genealogy questions he had encountered during his research. All of his research is a wonderful gift to our family. More than anything else though, he loved spending time with his family and friends. When you spent time with Don, you were greeted by a big smile, a twinkle in his blue eyes, and you knew you were loved.
A devoted member of The First United Church of Christ Congregational in Milford, Don served on the Board of Trustees and was the treasurer for several years. He enjoyed meeting new people and interacting with clergy and parishioners, many of whom became Don’s good friends.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Terry Kinsella; cherished daughters, Connie (Tom) Kristy, Donna Kersten, and Derry Tomczyk; sister, Shirley Matthews; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Page and Betty (Randy) McCue; grandchildren, Sara (Steve) Sparks, Emily Kristy, Jason (Kristen) Kersten, Brian (Lauren) Kersten, and Justin (Caroline) Tomczyk; as well as eight beautiful great grandchildren and his nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very much. He was predeceased by his parents, Katherine Belding and Clifton Crowell; his sister, Lois Schwagler; half-brothers, Zane and Jim; and son-in-law, William Tomczyk.

Thomas “Tommy” Allen Cupole
Thomas “Tommy” Allen Cupole, 63, longtime resident of Milford Connecticut and the greater Hartford area passed away peacefully on April 17, 2023. He was born on March 22, 1960 to Barbara Cupole and the late Nicholas Cupole.
Tommy was someone who always lived life to the fullest. He loved spending time with family and friends often playing cards and board games together or playing pool with his closest friends. He was an antique car enthusiast and loved his old Cadillacs. Tommy’s favorite time of year was the winter, when he would enjoy a nice snowy day. Tommy took great pride in his work as a CNC programmer and operator for over 30 years.
Along with his mom, Tommy is survived by his closest and dearest friend, Beverly Garofola, his siblings; sister, Ronna Hiltz (Jim) ; twin sister, Teri Anna Bickford (Jim); brother; Stephen Cupole (Carolyn); brother, Richard Cupole and wife Kristen; brother, James Cupole and wife Margo; sister, Mary Jayne Cupole, and longtime family friend Daryle Hiltz.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Tommy is predeceased by his father, Nicholas Cupole, and his brother, Nick.

Emilia DeVita Cusanelli
Emilia DeVita Cusanelli, 92, of Milford, formerly of North Haven, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2023. Emilia was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Gabriel N Cusanelli for 53 years. Born on March 23, 1931, in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Enrico and Gemma Veniero DeVita.
Emilia spent a happy childhood in New Haven and enjoyed summers with her parents, family and friends at their summer home on Cosey Beach in East Haven. Emilia was a proud graduate from the University of Connecticut, class of 1953. After college Emilia traveled throughout Europe and took an extensive road trip across the United States. These adventures sparked a lifelong interest in travel which she enjoyed with Gabe and her children. Emilia began her professional career as a social worker for the State of Connecticut, working at the department of Family Services. Emilia met Gabriel in 1958 and they were married in May 1960. Emilia and Gabe started a family in 1961 and after their two children left for college, Emilia managed the office of her husband’s medical practice in New Haven. For over 30 years, Emilia and Gabe spent the winter months at their residence in Naples Florida. Emilia and Gabe were members of the Farms Country Club for 40 years where they enjoyed golf and made lifelong friends. After 45 years together in North Haven, they moved to Baldwin Station in Milford. While living in Milford, they enjoyed the company of wonderful neighbors in the Baldwin Station community. Emilia was always energetic, enthusiastic and her warm smile and positive attitude would brighten every room she entered. Her outgoing personality and thoughtful nature will be missed by her family and friends.
Emilia leaves behind her son, Attorney Gabriel H. Cusanelli and her daughter, Elizabeth (Stephen) Raccuia and her 5 grandchildren Andrew, Talia and Krissandra Cusanelli, Christopher and Clare Raccuia, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by her sister Gemma Peters and her brother Judge Henry DeVita and her niece Diana Devita.
Emilia’s family would like to thank Home Care Plus Hospice (nurses Anna, Jenny, Pastor Dana, social worker Mary), Dr Holly Craig, Dr Linda Rosenfeld and Yale Cardiology and The Yale Winchester Pulmonary Clinic, Dr Christopher Morton and Dr Ashley Losier. She received excellent and compassionate care from all the above-mentioned health care providers.

Jean Marie DeLuca
Jean Marie DeLuca, 92, of Milford, beloved wife of David DeLuca, passed away on April 6, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 11, 1931, in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Walter Daley and Edna Cuneo.
She went through the Milford school system and worked for Donahue’s and Schick for many years before retiring to care for her mother. Her love of family was everything, especially her grandchildren. She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. Alzheimer’s may have robbed her of memories, but not her joy of life.
Along with her husband, Jean leaves behind her children, Diane Lester, David (Karen) DeLuca, Debra DeLuca, and Dawn Kindilien; grandchildren, Jaime (Jermaine), Damien, Daniel (Jill), Kyle (Mary), Amber, and Kari (Michael); and great grandchildren, Connor, Gianna, Lexi, Austin, Everly, Christian, Jadon, Liam, McKenzie, Londyn, Grayson, Victoria, and Jay. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Daley, and stepfather, Frank Cuneo.

Kathleen Margaret DiMaio
Kathleen Margaret DiMaio of Milford CT passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023 at Yale New Haven Hospital while surrounded by her loving family. Kathy was born on November 26, 1953 in Bridgeport, CT to the late John W. O’Brien and Margaret Hudack O’Brien. Beloved wife of John Robert DiMaio
Kathy was a devout catholic, always praying her daily rosary. She was a long time lector and parishioner of St. Mary Church in Milford CT, volunteer at Kids Closet, and member of the Milford Irish Historical Society. Kathy loved to fill her time with parades, church events, and family gatherings.
Kathy was a warm and generous woman, always thinking of others before herself. Her friends and family always knew to expect a greeting card near every holiday without fail. Above all else, she loved her husband, daughter, friends and family very deeply.
In addition to her beloved husband John, she is survived by their daughter Sue DiMaio, sister Patricia Maurer, sister in law Janice DiMaio, sister in law Diane DiMaio, and brother in law Roy Aichelmann. Cousin Joanne and niece Cindy Maurer, who was more like a sister to her. As well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mary A. Carotenuto DiMicco
After settling in Orange, CT, she and her late husband, Anthony N. DiMicco, raised, Deborah (Glenn) Russo of CT, Marlene (James) Cruite of FL, Ron DiMicco of FL, Russ DiMicco of OH, and Patricia (James) DePiore of OH. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Glenn (Andrea), Brian (Laura), Leah, Matthew, Dana (Felipe), Zachary and Elijah; great-grandchildren, Grey, Madeleine, and Layla.
A loving mother and dedicated homemaker, Mary was an amazing cook and baker, hosting all holidays with warmth and great enthusiasm. She also was a voracious reader and accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed traveling, especially when it included a visit to her grandchildren. Along with family, Mary cherished her many friendships in Connecticut and then later, in Maineville, Ohio. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony, and brothers, Dominic and Frank Carotenuto.

Debra Dubien
Debra J. (Zeek) Dubien, 66, of Milford, passed away on April 16, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 24, 1956 in Sumpter, S.C., she was the daughter of the late John E. and Joan (Shropshire) Zeek.
Debra spent the majority of her life living in Milford. During high school she worked part-time at Milford Rivet & Machine Co. and Page Motors Chevrolet. She then returned to Milford Rivet full time until 1987. She spent the next 10 years home with her children which became the most special time for her. Debbie began substituting for secretaries at the Milford Board of Education, which led to full time work in the instructional division for 22 years. Through her hard work, she helped provide for so many students in the Milford Public Schools.
Debbie was very active with Mary Taylor Church, where friends were like a second family. She was very involved in many church missions such as Prayer Shawls, Community Dinners, supporting children at Boys & Girls Village, United Methodist Women, Tres Dias Retreats (now named Footsteps), bible studies and mission trips to Biloxi to provide hurricane disaster relief. Her dedication, steadfast advocacy, and faith was felt deeply by all. She never looked for thanks or praise, yet she was so deserving of both.
Debbie enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and baking. She was the family genealogist, loved nature and cats, and made the best potato salad. Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by the many who loved her.
Debra is survived by her children, Alison (Timothy) Pitts, and Jeffrey Dubien; her grandchildren, Elise and Eric; her siblings, Suzanne (Mark) Buchter, John (Jennifer) Zeek, Daniel Zeek, and David (Symathia) Zeek; her former spouse and the father of her beloved children, Alfred Dubien; her cat, Natasha; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, including Christopher Zeek, of whom she was especially close.

Dr. Robert Moore Eldridge
Dr. Robert Moore Eldridge passed away peacefully on April 23, 2023. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on October 4, 1938, Bob attended the Naval Academy and proudly served in the United States Navy for 20 years including two combat tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander, Bob earned his PhD in International Finance from The George Washington University and enjoyed teaching at Sheffield University (England), Fairfield University (CT), Southern Connecticut State University (CT) and Coburg University (Germany). He actively participated in his Masonic Lodge in Milford. He loved classical music, history, stamp collecting, traveling, his family, and most of all, his beloved wife, Connie.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Constance Eldridge of Milford, CT; his son and daughter in law Richard & Pilar Eldridge of Falls Church, VA; his daughter and son in law Rena & Rusty Czerwinski of Longmont, CO; his 4 grandchildren: Cayden Eldridge of Denver, CO; Annie Eldridge of Baltimore, MD; Alaika Czerwinski of Broomfield, CO; Kyra Scarlett & husband James of Fort Collins, CO; his brother Bruce Eldridge & wife Jan of Lancaster, PA; and his sister Carolyn Martin of Riverside, CA.

Daniel Fernandez
Daniel Fernandez, 48, passed away after a brief illness. Mr. Fernandez was born in Milford on July 25, 1974 to the late Gamaliel and Gladys Fernandez. He graduated from Joseph A. Foran High School before attending Housatonic Community College. He was employed by Whalley Glass Company, a.k.a Curved Glass. He was a brilliant artist, fantastic chef and a skilled pool player. He inherited his father’s talent for entertaining and bringing happiness to others with his laughter, sense of humor and his professional quality performances on karaoke night. He was a loving and devoted father to his daughter, Gabriella Rachel Fernandez and her mother, Laura Bedini. He is also survived by his sister, Diana F. Coffey and her husband, James. He will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews, Daniel Fernandez, Alicia M. Fernandez and their mother, Catherine Fernandez-Rivera, Dennis J. Coffey and Alexa Nahas. He also leaves many cousins aunts and uncles. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Louis Fernandez. Loretta (Pepe) Frandsen
Loretta Ann (Pepe) Frandsen, 96 of Milford, beloved wife of the late Franklin Frandsen, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2023 in Wooster, Ohio where she resided with her daughter.. Born on January 23, 1927 in Milford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Pepe of Pepe Farms. Prior to her move to Ohio, Loretta was a lifelong resident of Woodmont and was a crossing guard for the City of Milford for 45 years. She was an active parishioner of St. Agnes Parish in Woodmont. She enjoyed traveling, swimming and spending time with family and friends.
Loretta was pre-deceased by her 8 siblings; Johnnie, Jim, Frank, Joey, William, Rose, Ann and Milly. She is survived by her son Frank Frandsen (Theresa) of Northford Ct, and her daughter Debby Heitger (John) of Ohio. She also leaves behind her 3 precious grandsons; Kyle, Logan and Justin, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Egidio “Gino” Giordano
Egidio “Gino” Giordano, 79, of Milford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 with his loving family at his side. Born on October 22, 1943 in San Vincenzo, La Costa, Italy, he was the son of the late Louis and Gemma Giordano.
Gino moved to America in 1956, and after high school he was drafted and served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea from 1965 to 1969. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sargent in 1973 and granted US citizenship for his military service. Gino had a deep love for this country and never shied away from showing his patriotism.
Before retiring, Gino was employed by Chapin and Bangs Steel Company in Bridgeport. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member of the Blood, Sweat, and Gears Car Club for 17 years.
Mr. Giordano leaves behind his dedicated and beloved wife, Carolyn Giordano; sons, Michael (Deborah) Giordano and Marc Giordano; his cherished only granddaughter, Brenna; brother, Frank (Irene) Giordano of Winslow, ME; as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Matthew A. Giorgio
Matthew A. Giorgio, 39, of Milford, beloved son of Marilyn Peluso Giorgio and Armand Giorgio passed away on April 5, 2023. He was born on March 9, 1984 in Stamford, Connecticut.
Matt graduated from Foran High School, he studied Visual Communications at Post University and earned his degree in Art & Graphic Design. Matt started his career working at CDS Displays based in Stratford. After several years at CDS he then went on to start his own company, Reliable Signage.
Matt was a talented artist, graphics designer, and musician. He played guitar and the piano. He loved attending music events and sporting events, especially MMA events.
Matt is survived by his parents; his two beloved pets, Milo and Major; several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends. He will be greatly missed by the many who loved him.
A mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday 4/13 at St. Agnes Church, 400 Merwin Avenue in Milford. Matthew’s burial was private.

Eleanor “Polly” Grabert
Eleanor “Polly” M. Crouch Grabert, 92 of Milford, CT, beloved wife of the late Charles H. Grabert passed from this life on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Bridges by Epoch in Trumbull with her daughter Heide and daughter-in-law Judy by her side. Daughter of the late William and Laura Crouch, Eleanor was born in Danbury CT and raised in Newtown CT. Eleanor married her husband Charles in 1950 and began raising their family in Danbury before moving to Bridgeport. Upon retirement, Eleanor and Charles moved to Lehi, Utah. Upon the death of her husband in 2001, Eleanor moved back to Connecticut to live with her son Mark and his wife Judy.
Eleanor was a strong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years, she held various callings in the Primary and Relief Society of the church. Eleanor loved her family, and always tried to help them in whatever way she could. Eleanor loved to garden and always had beautiful flowers in her gardens. She loved to “dig in the dirt”. She loved her cats over the years as well, enjoying their company and antics. She enjoyed working on word puzzles, Sudoku puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. She and her daughter Heide worked on many jigsaw puzzles together in her later years. She loved doing needlework and sewed many doll clothes for her daughter and granddaughters when they were children.
Eleanor will be greatly missed by her family and her friends. She is survived by her son Charles Allen Grabert (Junie), daughter Heide Ellen Ostrosky (Edward), daughter in law Judy Grabert, grandchildren Janevieve Grabert, Heidi Hoopes (Mark), Forest Grabert (Jenny), Laura Grabert, and Christopher Ostrosky, and great grandchildren Katya, Emma, Toby, Eliana, and Xander; brother Frederick Crouch; and many extended family and friends.

Margaret M. Hawes
Margaret M. Hawes, of Sherrills Ford, NC, died Friday, April 30, 2021.
Born April 10, 1943 in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late Madeline I. Bunce and Irving J. Stevens. A beloved daughter of her Heavenly Father, Maggie will be remembered for her beautiful smile and the warm hugs she gave everyone. She had a way of making all feel loved and important. She had a deep love for her family (especially her grandchildren!) and was famous for the best back-scratches on Earth. She loved ice cream cones, animals, reading, chickadees, and dancing. She will be truly and deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and James Stevens; her beloved aunt and uncle, Lorraine and Richard Morrisey; her much adored granddaughter, Hayden Griffith; and her son-in-law, Theodore Parr.
Maggie is survived by her son Bruce A. Hawes (Jacqueline) of Beacon Falls, CT, daughter Lane Griffith (Dan) of Sherrills Ford, NC, and daughter Kimberly M. Parr of Savannah, GA. She also leaves 10 grandchildren: Corrine, Kodi, and Jacob Hawes; Chandler (Matthew DeStefano, fiancé), Jonah (Alexis), Samuel, and Noah Griffith; and Devin and Drew Parr; her brother John Stevens (Sue), extended family; and her many friends.

John J. Henchy
John J. Henchy, 94 years old, of Stratford, CT, beloved husband of Edna, entered into eternal rest on April 26, 2023. Born on April 3, 1929 in New Rochelle, NY, he was the son of the late William C. Henchy and Mary Burns Henchy. He spent his childhood in Pelham, NY and Scarsdale, NY and later moved with family to White Plains, NY in 1945.
He attended Cardinal Hayes High School in Bronx, NY, and upon graduation in 1947, he went to Fordham University where he received a B.S. in Business Administration in 1951. After college, he was selected for the U.S. Coast Guard Officers Training Program. Upon completion, he was assigned to the Portland, Maine Coast Guard base where he served on the Coast Guard ship, the Cook Inlet. He received an honorable discharge in October 1953 and then entered St. John’s Seminary in Boston, MA. Upon completing his studies at the seminary, he served in the Diocese of Bridgeport, CT in various parishes and Chancery positions. He left the priesthood in 1972 and began a career in banking. In October 1973, he married Edna Patricia Healy. They resided in Bridgeport for a short time before moving to Oronoque Shores in Stratford. John retired from the Westport Bank in 1999 and continued to be active in his parish, St. Mark’s in Stratford, and the Oronoque Shores community, serving as President of the Homeowners Association for a period.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, two sisters, Elizabeth A. Henchy of White Plains, NY and Margaret H. Powers of Sleepy Hollow NY, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles and Diana Healy of Northampton, MA and Sr. Mary Healy of Hartford, CT, and many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William C. Henchy of Brewster, MA and two sisters, Virginia W. Henchy of White Plains, NY and Mary T. Henchy of Scarsdale, NY.
John passed away at home having received compassionate and outstanding care from numerous aides led by Peter and Ketty Mancero.

Barbara P. Henderson, age 88, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Peter Henderson, received her wings on April 26, 2023. She will be greeted at the gates by her parents, C. Tracy and Jennie Pierson, her brother, Calvin, her sister, Beverly, her husband Peter and her son, Michael. She was born on March 15, 1935 in Derby. She was a loving wife and mother, Barbara loved her cat, Oreo and was an avid Mets and Nascar fan.
She leaves behind her daughter, Sherri Harvey (Lewis) and her granddaughters, Jennifer Mann and Dr. Crystal Harvey, her great granddaughters, Staci and Kristin Mann, her sister, Carol Jones and several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to her longtime caregiver, Lisa Volpe, who made Barbara’s life better with companionship, laughter and fun times.

Theresa Ann Jacobs passed away peacefully on April 19, 2023 at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT. Theresa was born on October 2, 1941 in Central City, Pennsylvania to the late John Turnick and Ann Dorchik Turnick. Theresa is predeceased be her beloved husband Joseph W. Jacobs Sr.
Theresa married the love of her life, Joseph, on May 15, 1965 in Port Chester NY. She was a devoted wife, and became a dedicated mother, just two years later to twins. Theresa and Joe were married for 48 wonderful years, before he passed away in 2013. They had retired to South Carolina to live in their dream home, and always welcomed family and friends to join them and spend time together. The looked forward to showing everyone around the new area, and relished in the happiness that they could share with everyone. Theresa’s life passion was caring for her family. She cherished time spent in the kitchen cooking family meals, enjoying every holidays and bringing people together. She knew the true meaning of family, and was always there for anyone who needed anything.
She was also a loyal daughter, who took care of her Mother, until the very end. She enjoyed reading, and cuddling her many cats, over the years. She loved any and all animal that came to her door, and tried to help them in any way she could. From Shirley, the neighborhood squirrel, who used to ring her doorbell for a cookie, to the many cats and kittens that would come looking for a meal. Medical attention or treatment, finding them homes, or simply feeding them gave her great happiness. She was a truly a selfless and beloved wife, mother, and friend, who will be dearly missed by so many. Kindness, love, compassion and understanding were always foremost in her heart.
Theresa is survived by her two beloved children: son Joseph W Jacobs Jr, (companion Margie Schmidt) of SC and daughter Michele Koller (husband Christopher) of CT. As well as, and her beloved Ragdoll kitty, Bailey and her sister-in-law Catherine and many nieces, nephews and their children.
A Funeral Mass and private inurnment will take place in the near future, where Theresa previously lived, in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.

Susann Veronica Janes, 75, of Milford, passed away on April 14, 2023. Born on May 20, 1947 in Lowell, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Balchewicz and Helen (Kutash) Balchewicz..
Susann retired from Subway World Headquarters in Milford, Connecticut where she worked for 25 years.
She is survived by her son, Richard Janes, Jr. of Shelton, Connecticut and many cousins.

Julia Kaoud
Julia Kaoud, age 87, of Orange, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on February 17, 2023. She was the loving wife of the late Saliba Kaoud. Julia was born in Ramallah, Palestine, daughter of the late Bishara Kaoud and Victoria Milham Kaoud. She is survived by her children, Sana Margieh, Elham Kaoud, Abraham (Maggie) Kaoud, Ayman (Roula) Kaoud, Victoria Kaoud Wilde, fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, as well as uncountable family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Julia is predeceased by her beloved daughter Renda Kaoud Margieh Noberini, her son-in-law Mounder Margieh and her 7 siblings.
Julia’s faith was very important to her, she was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness for over 50 years. Prior to her retirement Julia was a successful real estate entrepreneur, as well as the owner and operator of Eddie’s Food Center.
The hours for visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A funeral talk will be given on Wednesday morning at 11am in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 210 Old Grassy Hill Rd Orange, CT (if unable to attend, zoom link info may be obtained from the funeral home). Interment will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford.
John C. Lorusso
John was a master carpenter, having worked in construction his whole life, and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 24. When not working, John still used his carpentry talents on different wood crafts, including furniture and helping his grandson with a scouting project. Even after retiring, he built a home in Vermont for his family’s enjoyment. When not creating wood masterpieces, he enjoyed gardening, and above all else, loved time spent with his family, especially his grandson.
John will be remembered by his daughter, Brenda Dombkowski; his son, John Lorusso; his grandson, Jamie Dombkowski; his brother and his wife, James “Vinnie” and Josephine Lorusso; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolann and Henry Patz; numerous nieces and nephews, and longtime friend, Robert Apuzzo and his wife Christina. He was predeceased by his siblings, Judy Colletti and Peter and Richard Lorusso. The family would like to thank the staff of the West Haven VA Medical Center for their outstanding care and compassion.

Michael Luther
Michael Luther of Woodbridge, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2023. He was 94 years old.
He was the second son of Willard Blackinton Luther and Josephine Crocker Luther. Michael was intensely proud that both sides of his family were Massachusetts residents (the Luthers in Swansea and the Crockers in Boston) dating back to the early 17th century. Michael was raised in Cambridge, and attended Fessenden School, Groton School and Williams College with graduate work at Harvard. A lifelong educator, he spent 43 years teaching mathematics at all levels from primary through undergraduate.
Michael moved to Woodbridge in 1957. His wife, Imogene Rhodes Pratt Luther, joined him in 1964 and they raised their daughter, Sarah, there. Michael loved the town and served it in many capacities including 8 years on the Amity Regional Board of Education, 12 years on the Amity Regional Building Committee, 11 years on the Woodbridge Board of Finance and 5 years as Woodbridge Town Treasurer.
A life-long sailor, Michael fell in love with the retired whaling ship Charles W. Morgan when he and his siblings played on her as children. In 2014, he fulfilled a lifelong dream when Mystic Seaport gave him a turn at the helm on her 38th voyage sailing through the waters of Buzzards Bay near his childhood home. For Michael, each day was a blessing, every year was a gift.
He was predeceased by his siblings Willard, Joan and Crocker, as well as wife Imogene, and former spouse Elizabeth Schulze. He left behind many loving family and friends, including his daughters Sarah Pratt Luther and Elizabeth Luther Weaver, sister Anne Von Rosenberg, two grandsons William Vance Weaver and Hamilton Clay Weaver and three great-grandchildren.
Michael and his wife, Imogene, who died in 2021, were devoted members, for many decades, of Christ Episcopal Church (526 Amity Road, Bethany CT). A celebration of both their lives will be held there on June 10th at 11:00 a.m.

Patricia L. McGrath
Patricia L. McGrath, age 80, of Shelton and formerly of Milford, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Patricia was born in Bridgeport on February 25, 1943 to the late Lionel Turcott and Helene Turner Seriani. She worked in customer service for People’s Bank for many years and retired from Hoffman Fuel as an emergency dispatcher. Patricia was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and her rescue dog, Dolly. Survivors include her children, Tracy Alibrandi of Shelton and Erik Pryor (Everlyn) of Kuwait, sister, Sandra Rosa of Milford and one beloved granddaughter, Rosanna Alibrandi of Shelton and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Patricia is predeceased by her stepfather, Jules Seriani. Sharon M. McNamara
Sharon M. McNamara passed away peacefully on April 26, 2023 at Milford Hospital in Milford CT. Sharon was born on March 23, 1951 in Bridgeport CT to the late Walter Frederick Heathcote Sr. and Shirley Robinson Heathcote. Beloved wife of the late William Lee McNamara.
A lifelong resident of Milford, Sharon made it a point to be a valued member of the community. Sharon started as bus driver for the city of Milford and spent the rest of her career working for the Milford Board of Education. She was a founding member of the Irish Heritage Society of Milford in 2006 and remained a member for the rest of her life. She found comfort in caring for others and as such was an avid volunteer for Branford Hospice. In her free time, she loved to crochet intricate blankets and scarves for her loved ones. However, most of all she loved to spend quality time with her family and friends.
Sharon is survived by her daughter Kiersten Tovar (husband Chris), brother Howard Heathcote and sister Susan Heathcote. Five grandchildren: C.J., Adrienne, Trista, Matthew Jr., and Oliva. Nieces and nephews: Tammy Wilcox, Catherine McFarlin, Lisa Smith, Randy Miner, and Michael Miner. As well as her beloved dog Rocky, many additional nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

Kris drove a school bus for the Milford School System for 26 years before her retirement.

Deborah Gayle Murray
Deborah Gayle Murray, 74, of Milford, Connecticut, beloved wife of 57 years to Russell Charles Murray, passed away peacefully at Branford Hospice on April 22, 2023, after a courageous battle with Cancer. Born on November 26, 1948, in New Haven, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Florence (Miletto) Hearns.
Debbie was the founder and president of the Family Childcare Network for over 30 years. She volunteered her time to provide affordable and safe day care options for numerous in need families in the Milford, West Haven, and Orange areas. Debbie also owned her own family daycare, Caring and Sharing Daycare, as well for over 20 years. She was invited to Yale to speak at a lecture along with Fred Rogers of Mister Rodgers’ Neighborhood, who like herself was an advocate for children. Her devoted passion for caring for children was evident in her work.
Debbie loved to garden and when she wasn’t enjoying the outdoors, she was inside cheering for her favorite teams, The New York Giants and The New York Mets. She also loved to make beautiful holiday wreaths for family and friends. Music was a major influence in her life. She enjoyed listening to all kinds of music.
In addition to her loving husband of 57 years, Deborah is survived by her children, Eric (Catherine) Murray of Monroe and Gordon (Melissa) Murray of Milford; her grandchildren, Erica, Samantha, Maxwell, Gillian, Cameron, and Connor Murray; and many beloved nieces and nephews as well as extended family members and friends.
A Mass will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Agnes’ Church, 400 Merwin Avenue, Milford, CT.

Anne Stark Pearson
Anne was born in 1930 to parents Edgar and Kathryn of Northfield, Massachusetts. She and her husband met on Cape Cod in 1950 and were married for over 65 years. Anne attended the Orange Congregational Church and was a member of the Senior Choir for 43 years. She enjoyed international travel, was an avid doll collector, and loved arts and crafts including making hand-painted Christmas ornaments for her grandchildren every year.
A Memorial service is planned for 10:00 AM on Monday, April 10, 2023 at the Orange Congregational Church, 205 Meeting House Lane, Orange, CT. Interment will follow in the Church’s Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Church’s Music Fund.
Susan Peck
Susan Peck, 88, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Richard C. Peck, passed away on April 9, 2023. Born on August 18, 1934 in Cheboygan, MI, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Donald C. and Leone (Kessinger) Ellwood.
Susan worked for the Milford Board of Education as an elementary school teacher at Pumpkin Delight and Mathewson Schools, and delighted especially in teaching the children, and even grandchildren, of students she had taught in the past. Living and working in Milford meant that she ran into her students at the post office or the grocery store or the mall. She and her husband were very active members of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church where Susan helped with the Altar Guild for more than fifty years, and regularly baked her trademark peanut butter cookies and lemon square bars for the coffee hour and bake sales. Susan volunteered weekly for the Milford Hospital Auxiliary and served as its treasurer. She also was a longtime reading volunteer for Connecticut Volunteer Services for the Blind and Handicapped, Inc. (CVSBH) at its studio in Milford. Susan and Richard enjoyed many years socializing with the Milford Congregational Church’s Couples Club. One of Susan’s most cherished and enduring circle of blessing and friendship was her Bridge Group, ladies who supported each other and laughed together for decades.
Susan is survived by her children, Caroline Medley, Laura (Greg Anderson) Peck, and Christopher Peck; her grandchildren, Cheryl (Jae Vick) Medley, Sarah Medley, Lily and Carter Anderson, Evan (Krystal Ramahlo) Peck, and Jared, Marissa, and Jordan Peck; siblings, Donald John (Betty) Ellwood, and Kathy (Alan) Miller; and her many nieces and nephews. Susan was predeceased by her son-in-law, Richard Medley.

Peter Louis Pietrini, 72, of Milford, beloved husband of Barbara (Schilling) Pietrini for 42 years, passed away on April 25, 2023. Born on April 5, 1951 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Ermano “Sam” and Helen (Lasse) Pietrini.
In addition to his beloved wife, Barbara, Peter is survived by his children, Anthony (Sandra Jaques) Pietrini, and Peter (Kellie) Pietrini; his grandchildren, Michael, Jason, Parker, and Chase; his siblings and siblings-in-law, Susan (Thomas) Cody, Russell Pietrini, Louis (Elizabeth) Pietrini, and Robert (Diane) Schilling; his nieces and nephews, Brian (Megan) Cody, Kurt Pietrini, Christine (Michael) Gradoia, Gary (Melisa) Schilling, and Scott Schilling; his great nieces, Tess, Teagan, and Sydney Cody; and his many cousins, extended family members, and friends, Peter was predeceased by his brother, Steven Pietrini; maternal grandparents, Peter (Mabel) Lasse; and paternal grandparents, Louis (Eduvillia) Pietrini.
Peter approached everything in life with a high level of vigor. He went at everything in his life with an unstoppable drive and level of energy, beginning at Jonathan Law High School & Trinidad College (Colorado), where he starred as a tough & tenacious football player, his career in 40 years of manufacturing at Dresser Industries & Sikorsky, his devotion to Catholicism, God and prayer, and through his lifelong love for exercise that carried him through each day. Peter truly enjoyed life’s simple pleasures – going to the gym, long walks outdoors, dogs, chess, and sharing a large mozzarella cheese pizza (known only to him as “large mootz”) from Papa’s Pizza with his family were some of his greatest pleasures.
But above all else, Peter helped spread joy and love with whomever he came in contact. He loved spending time with his four grandchildren most of all, and his presence always brought peace and joy to his young relatives.
He was an exemplary father, a loving husband, sacrificed for his family whenever he had the opportunity, and devoted himself to making the lives of others around him better.

Nancy Myers Sennett
Nancy Myers Sennett, 92, of Milford, beloved wife of Deacon Richard M. Sennett, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 24, 2023 at her home. Born on January 4, 1931 in Cleveland, OH, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Myers.
Nancy’s faith was the cornerstone of her life; one would say she had a direct line to the Holy Spirit. She was devoted to her family as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Always focused on others, she was content to be in the background. She never missed a play, concert, or game and was everyone’s biggest cheerleader. Nancy returned to work after raising her four children and was the parish secretary at St Mary’s Church for nearly 20 years. She will be remembered for amazing Christmas letters and her detailed travel diaries. Nancy enjoyed volunteering, whether it be at her children’s school events, the Saint Mary’s Ladies Guild, and with the Milford Historical Society. She loved having her weekly lunch gathering with her friends and all the traveling they did together. She was a woman with a grateful heart and that is part of her legacy to all of us.

She was predeceased by her sisters-in-law, Judee and Sandy.

Judy Symanski
Judith “Judy” Symanski, 76, of Milford, beloved wife of 56 years to Walter “Bucky” Symanski, passed away on April 11, 2023, with her loving family by her side. Born on December 9, 1946, in Hartford, CT, Judy was the daughter of the late John “Jack” and Roxanne (Miller) Qua.
Judy grew up in Meriden, CT, but spent her summers at the shore in Milford with her mom and dad. It was there that she met the love of her life, Bucky, who worked at Smith’s Wonderland, the indoor roller-skating rink at Walnut Beach. Mr. Smith knew that his youngest employee was smitten but shy, so when Judy’s dad dropped off her skates to be serviced, they came back with a note that said simply, “No Charge, Compliments of Buck Symanski.” That note was the start of a great love story that spanned over 63 years. With sand in their shoes and love in their hearts, Buck and Judy eventually married and built a beautiful life together in Milford with their family.
Judy was an outstanding student with a brilliant mind and a creative way with words. She could have been anything she wanted to be in her lifetime. And while she served the Milford community for many years as a waitress at local restaurants, above all else, she chose as her life’s calling the roles of wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed quiet moments at home completing crosswords and watching Jeopardy with her precious cat, Elliot, but nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her loved ones. Judy spent a lifetime on the sidelines cheering on her kids and grandkids. Whatever “brag book” she was carrying around was always overflowing. She was known to throw a great party back in the day and she was a gracious holiday host, always opening her home and her heart making everyone feel welcome. Judy relished watching her family grow. She loved her three son-in-laws like her own blood, and they loved her as deeply in return. She lived her life by example teaching others the value of compassion and respect for all people. And Judy will be forever remembered as the “Keeper of Traditions,” including over 4 decades of cherished vacation memories at her beloved Chalk Pond, the family “Happy Place” in Newbury, New Hampshire. Scavenger hunts, bonfires, card games, family feasts, canoe rides, and frog catching will all continue in her honor.
Judy was a proud breast cancer survivor who approached every challenge in life with courage and tenacity. She was steeling herself to battle it for a second time when a medical complication took her far too soon. In addition to her loving husband, Bucky, Judy is survived by her children, Tracy (Kenneth) Fratarcangeli, Janis (Frank) Tondora, and Tiffany (Alex) Beck; her grandchildren, Alyssa (Sean) Keating, Nicholas (Emma) Fratarcangeli, Caleb and Rylee Tondora, and Greyson, Dylan, and Wyatt Beck; her siblings-in-law, Virginia Ross, and Roy, Jan, and Mary Symanski; and her many nieces, and nephews. Judy was predeceased by her siblings in law, Alan “Butch” Symanski, Judith and Richard Schwarzenberg, and Al Ross.

Angelo Tambis
Angelo Tambis of Woodbridge, CT and Clearwater, FL died at 94 on March 30 in Clearwater after a brief illness. He was born in Athens, Greece in 1928 to Yiannis and Edifili (Souvatzidakis) Tambacologos. In 1954, he married Anastasia Helen Jennett of New Haven, CT in Athens, Greece. After 30 years as a painting contractor throughout the New Haven area, Angelo and his brother Padelis started a very small business supplying corrugated circles to local pizza restaurants in 1976. The business, Die-Cut Paper Products, Inc., located in West Haven, is a manufacturer of corrugated paper products throughout the Northeast. Angelo was actively involved in the business up until his death.
His greatest pleasure revolved around an active social life with his devoted wife Nanne (Anastasia), mainly among the Greek communities of New Haven and Clearwater. Both Angelo and Nanne are founding members of St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church in New Haven. He enjoyed frequent visits to Greece to see family and friends. Angelo was an amateur engineer, often redesigning machinery to accommodate tasks around his factory. He often sketched drafts of designs and made the machinery to follow. He was a talented painter, and loved puttering around in his garden. He was known for his incredible sense of humor and warm smile.
He is survived by his amazing and devoted wife of 69 years Nanne (Anastasia) and children John, Thomas, and Penelope, and six beloved grandchildren Taylor, Carlos, Chelsea, Benjamin, Evangelos (Elis), and Anastasia. Also survived by sister-in-law Catherine Tommaselli, brother-in-law Mathew (Sheila) Jennett, and numerous nieces and nephews in US and Greece. He is predeceased by siblings Fotini Efraimides (Yiorgos), Dimitri (Yiota) and Pandeli Tambacologos, and brother-in-law James Tommaselli.

Peter “Pete” F. Tracy
Peter “Pete” Frederick Tracy, 72, of Milford, beloved husband of Kathleen (Finch) Tracy, passed away suddenly on April 20, 2023. Born on March 28, 1951 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Joseph Edward and Shirley (Blade) Tracy.
Pete was a graduate of Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport, CT and was employed by General Electric in Bridgeport, CT for 27 years as a welder by trade and most recently with Alinabal Inc. in Milford, CT.
With Pete’s avid welding experience, he helped with rescue efforts at the L’Ambiance disaster in 1987. He spent a full week working every evening and long into the morning hours, burning reinforcement rods in order to remove the concrete to find victims after working full days at GE. He himself had found 2 two victims, but continued to work until the last victim was found. This is where he realized the importance of blood and started to donate to the American Red Cross on a regular basis.
He started his drum corp years with the St. Raphael’s Musketeers and the Golden Buccaneers. From there he went to the Milford Shoreliners and later reunited and formed a comradery of friends, both old and new for the beginning of the Park City Pride Alumni for 12 years.
With much pride, Pete coached his son’s Milford Little League Baseball and Devon Knights Basketball teams in their younger years. His happy place was at Nelson’s Family Campground for the last 22 years, where he made lifelong friendships on the “pond” that will be cherished forever. Also known as Papa, Pete’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his children and his five grandchildren.
Along with his wife, Pete leaves behind his loving children, Keona (Jean-Paul) Savoie, Dennis (Katherine Golias) Tracy, and David Tracy; cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Emma, and Peter Savoie, and Ava and Ashlyn Tracy; many brothers and sisters, siblings-in-law, Bob (Janet) Finch and Tom (Nancy) Finch; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and many good friends. Pete was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Murph Grey.

Gael Ulisse
Gael Ulisse, age 77, of Milford, died at home on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Gael was born in Fall River, MA on May 11, 1945 to the late Manuel and Rose Catabia. She received her B.S. in Nursing at Salve Regina College in Rhode Island and her M.A. in Nursing at Columbia University in New York. Gael was an APRN for nearly 50 years, credentialed and specializing in clinical diabetes and education primarily at St. Vincent’s Medical Center and Yale New Haven Hospital. She was a published author, prolific teacher and honored lecturer at Yale University School of Nursing, St. Vincent’s Medical Center, AADE, ADA and CADE in addition to numerous other professional associations and community organizations. She was greatly respected and admired by her professional colleagues and by her patients. She is survived by her children Chris, Rebecca and Justin, four grandchildren, and her brother, Brian Catabia. Gael was dedicated to the service of others, and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Joseph Uva
Joseph Frank Uva, “Sonny”, 89, of Milford, beloved husband of Joan Biondino Smeland- Uva, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2023. Born on January 19, 1934 in Stamford, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Antoniette (Frattaroli) Uva and Canio Uva..
Joe was a graduate of Wright Technical High School Automotive Department Class of 1952, upon graduation Joe entered the U. S. Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. Joe’s journey then led him into driving a truck for various transportation companies before settling on Vallerie Transportation. When Vallerie’s Transportation closed, Joe went to work at B & S Carting company doing various jobs, until retiring at age 84. Joe was a member of Teamsters Local 191 and served on the Board of the Local 191 Retirees for many years.
Joe enjoyed working, playing bocce, golf, and entering the pickleball world after retiring. The family UNO games on every holiday with his grandchildren were truly full of laughter and fun. Joe loved spending time with family and friends in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Even being recognized as Tony Bennett look-alike from his North Myrtle Beach Pickleball friends. Joe really enjoyed the dinners and wineries with his wonderful and caring cousins and friends. The time spent playing cards and concerts at Walnut Beach with friends are among the fun times. Let’s not forget his love for shopping.
A simple, kind, and generous man, he was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband. Predeceased by his daughter, Sharon (Uva) Clark, siblings, Yolonda Ambrosecchio and Nicholas Uva. Joe is survived by his wife, stepchildren Joan M. Smeland and Richard P. Smeland, Jr. His pride and joys, three grandchildren, Tricia (Adam) Breen of Colorado, Alysse Smeland of Rhode Island, and Nicholas (fiancé Nicole) Smeland of South Carolina and great-grandson, Lando Breen. Charles Thomas Weyant
Charles T. Weyant, 84, of Milford, beloved husband of Judith P. Weyant, passed away peacefully on April 20th, 2023. Born on March 6th, 1939 in Milford he was the son of the late David and Emily Weyant.
He was a proud veteran of the US Naval Forces and a prominent jazz musician in the local music scene.
Charles is loved by his surviving children, sister, and family and will be remembered fondly by all those who shared his passion for jazz music and the Long Island Sound.
