James Alan Bartow
It is with great sadness that the family of James Alan Bartow, 68, of Milford Connecticut, is announcing that he peacefully passed away on July 9th 2023, with his devoted, loving wife of forty-five years, Carol (Frandsen) Bartow at his side. Born October 23, 1954 at Bridgeport Hospital, the son of the late Homer and Janet (Smith) Bartow of Monroe, Connecticut where he grew up.
He was a Airforce Military Veteran who enlisted during the Vietnam era to serve his country and also worked at Sikorsky Aircraft under the Presidential program for almost three decades. Through Sikorsky, he earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Albertus Magnus.
Jim lovingly acquired many roles during his life including loyal friend, father figure to many, uncle, brother, Pop pop to his grandchildren, devoted father, and loving husband. He also played other roles as “a natural Santa” (Claus), Gentleman Jim the Pirate, and (boat) Captain Jim of the Sandy Claws as a member at Valley Yacht Club. An inspired musician, he was a member of the Milford Folk Music Society and he loved composing, playing guitar and singing to his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, James is survived by his children, Corinne (James) Mercaldi and Jeremy (Brittany) Bartow. James leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Marshall, Lucy, Daxton, Warren and Griffin. James is survived by his brother Bill (Sue) Bartow and sister-in-law, Sue (Mike) Strelez. James will also be missed by nieces Virginia (Bill) Garms, Amanda Bartow, his nephew Mike (Donna) Zombar along with their children. He also leaves behind cousins; Ed Loveland, Susan Cragin, Wendy Lovallo, Laurie Loveland, Sandy and Alan Peevers and other relatives in Upstate New York. He is predeceased by his brother Bruce Bartow and sister, Connie Zombar.
A celebration of life will be held for Jim on Thursday July 27, 2023 from 4-8pm at the Cody-White Funeral Home,107 Broad Street, Milford,CT with the opportunity during the last hour to share how he impacted peoples lives.

Marion A. (Rollins) Cicero
Marion A. Cicero, age 98, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Miller Cicero, entered peaceful rest on June 27, 2023.
Marion was born on November 6, 1924 in Newport, VT and was the daughter of the late Carroll and Alice (Perkins) Rollins. She was an inspector for her entire career at Schick Razor Inc in Milford until her retirement. Family was everything to Marion. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Ann Church.
Marion is survived by her devoted sons, David Cicero and his wife Grace of Milford, Gary Cicero of FL, eight grandchildren, Jason (Deborah) Cicero, Carrie (Martin) Pastir, Jamie Cicero, Jaclyn Drewry, Kristin (Travis) Utter, Brian Cicero, Alison (Randy) Lonstein and Todd (Christy) Cicero, fourteen great-grandchildren, Neil and Ian Pastir, Emily and Taylor Drewry, Kylie Davis, Jacob and Harper Utter, Stella and Claudia Cicero, Avery, Chase and Cole Lonstein and Riley and Rowan Cicero. She is also survived by her two sisters, Lois Willis and Avis Rollins and several nieces and nephews. Her daughter-in-law, Sandi Cicero predeceased her.

Raymond Norman Cole
Raymond Norman Cole, age 91, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Joan Mae Smith passed away on December 24, 2022 at Bridgeport Hospital. Raymond was born in Milford on May 4, 1931 to the late LeRoy Nearing and Elizabeth Hubay Cole. He attended Milford Schools. Ray was a beach boy. He was in the Air Force during the Korean War. He loved his family, and his family loved him. Ray was a baseball coach for little league years ago. He was a sports fan, watching all sports on TV. He was employed by Allison Co., and Paige Wilson before going to Sikorsky Aircraft. He was so proud to work at Sikorsky and he retired there. He traveled across the county two times with Joan. He loved going to the casinos and playing the lottery and scratch offs. He enjoyed sitting in his chair on his front porch relaxing with his son LeRoy. He loved his son, LeRoy for being there for him and taking very well care of him. He leaves his three children, LeRoy Cole, Deborah Trumpower and Elaine Casey, three grandchildren, Kristine Casey, Patricia Casey and Courtney Swift and several nieces and nephews. Raymond is predeceased by his sisters, Janet Ryan and Arlene Rice and his grandson, Shawn Watson.

Gregory Cook
Gregory Cook, 59, longtime resident of Milford, passed away after a brief illness on June 25, 2023. Born on November 29, 1963 in Gainesville, FL, he was the beloved son of Cecilia Hull (of Murrieta, CA) and Noble David Cook (of Coral Gables, FL).
Gregory graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the University of Bridgeport.
For many years, he worked as a Graphic Designer at the Hudson Paper company (HUPACO) in Stratford CT, while opening his own freelance design studio “Bayview Design”, named appropriately after his home location in the Bayview Beach section of Milford.
His love for living by the shoreline became his inspiration in art.
He also possessed keen observational skills, regularly seen walking about Milford, photographing Milford’s shoreline and architecture. This would become the inspiration for his sketches and paintings.
Gregory had eclectic tastes, be it in art, music, travel, gardening, sailing, fishing or cooking.
Most importantly, Gregory was known for his kind, loving nature and his ability to make others happy.
His sense of humor and comic expressions were so infectious that in his college years, he earned the nickname “Mr. Happy”. Loved by his family and so many friends, Gregory will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Gregory is survived by his beloved brother, Vincent Cook of Milford, his wife Lisa and their children, Tyler and Caitlin, stepparents Richard Hull and Alexandra Cook and sister Karoline Cook, who resides in London, UK.

Helen M. DellaMonica
Helen M. DellaMonica passed away peacefully on June 26, 2023 at Milford Hospital in Milford CT while surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born on May 10, 1941 in Yonkers, NY to the late Edward and Margaret Yavorski. Helen was the beloved wife of the late Joseph S. DellaMonica Sr.
Helen worked for many years for Air Lock Corporations, in which she assisted in manufacturing helmets and spacesuits for NASA. Helen was extremely proud of her contributions to NASA’s aerospace explorations.
In her free time Helen loved activities that engaged her mind. Whether that was completing her daily crossword, puzzles with her family, or finishing her latest mystery novel. She found great happiness in cooking and baking for her family and was known for making the best pound cake around. However, most of all she was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who love her.
Helen is survived by her two beloved children: daughter Ann Margaret Modena and her husband Jason Modena, and son Joseph S. DellaMonica Jr. and his wife Linda DellaMonica. Four grandchildren: Brianna DellaMonica, Gabriella DellaMonica, Joseph DellaMonica III, and Samantha Modena. As well as her sister Barbara “Bobbi” Kachnic and many additional family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband, Joseph Sr., she is predeceased by her sisters: Peggy Vrabel, Kathy Mulvihill, and Mickey Wall.
A Visitation will be held on Friday June 30, 2023 at Cody White Funeral Home (107 Broad St., Milford CT 06460) from 4 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday July 1, 2023 at St. Mary Church (70 Gulf St, Milford CT) at 10:30 a.m.

Francis J. Eastwood
It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of Francis J. Eastwood, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed member of both the engineering and military communities. Francis passed away peacefully on July 7, 2023, at the age of 74, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy that will forever be remembered. He was the loving husband of Martha L. (Cicchetti) Eastwood.
Born in Waterbury, CT on July 12, 1948. He was the son of the late John and Alice (Mautino) Eastwood. After completing his education, he pursued a successful career as a plastics engineer, making significant contributions to the industry. His unwavering dedication and innovative thinking earned him the respect of colleagues and peers alike, leaving a lasting impact on the field.
As well as his professional achievements, Francis served his country with honor and pride as a First Sergeant of the Army National Guard.
Above all else, Francis was a devoted family man. He shared an extraordinary bond with his beloved wife, Martha, who supported him wholeheartedly throughout their 54 years of marriage. Their love and companionship were a true inspiration, serving as a testament to the power of enduring commitment.
In addition to his beautiful wife, Martha, Francis is survived by his two daughters, Deena Eastwood of Seymour who is engaged to Thomas MacDaniel and Cherie Agresti of Milford who is married to Marc. He also leaves his grandchildren Michael, Joseph and Johnathon Aiken and Skyler and Nicholas Agresti. Also his brothers, John Eastwood of Southington, CT and James Eastwood of Laguna Niguel, CA, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
Francis was a proud and loving father. His children brought immense joy and pride to his life. He nurtured and guided them, instilling in them the values of compassion, perseverance, and hard work. He found significant happiness in witnessing their accomplishments and celebrating their milestones.
As a doting grandfather, Francis delighted in the presence of his grandchildren. Their laughter and vibrant energy brought him overwhelming joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He took great delight in sharing his wisdom and experiences, imparting a lasting impression on each of their lives. Additionally, he will be greatly missed by his grand puppy, Moecho, who enjoyed daily meals and naps with him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments and military service, Francis will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and unwavering support for those around him. His warm smile, great sense of humor, and words of encouragement touched the lives of many, leaving a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though we mourn the loss of a remarkable man, we find solace in the enduring memories and lessons he leaves behind. Francis J. Eastwood will be forever cherished and remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, accomplished engineer, and a true patriot. He will be greatly missed and live forever in our hearts.

Jose A. Egurbide
Jose Antonio Egurbide, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday June 23, 2023 in Milford, Connecticut. Egurbide was born January 20, 1939 in Mutriku, Spain, to the late Jose and Irene Egurbide.
In 1953, at the young age of 14, Egurbide was offered a contract to play Jai Alai professionally in Havana, Cuba, setting in motion the start of one of the most prolific Jai Alai careers in the 20th century. Egurbide, endearingly known by friends and fans alike as “El Txato” for his prominent nose, enjoyed a 31-year career as a Jai Alai player, going from Cuba to Dania, Florida and then from Barcelona to all over the Basque Country and France before returning back to the United States in 1976 to play in Bridgeport and Milford Jai Alai.
Besides his incredible longevity, Egurbide’s rare combination of grace, strength and power propelled him to the Pantheon of Jai Alai superstars, along with a select few other household names for multiple generations of fans of the sport. Egurbide continued to consistently dominate the front court right up until he retired in 1984 at age 45. Never one to allow injury to stop him, even after Egurbide tore his Aquiles tendon and was told he may never walk normal again (let alone play competitive Jai Alai), he rehabilitated for over a year and a half and, not only did he come back stronger than ever, but he won the 1971 World Championship of Jai Alai in France with fellow Mutriku native and ace backcourt player, Txurruka.
In the late early 80s, while playing in Bridgeport and Milford, Egurbide was still considered a formidable opponent by the next generation of superstar front court Jai Alai players. To this day, many Bridgeport and Milford faithful still remember the name EGURBI in their programs and the number 28 on the players’ roster. With a powerful serve and costado rebote, as well as unrivaled legs, Egurbide was also beloved for consistently playing with class and humility, something he exhibited both on and off the court, regardless of the outcome. After retiring in 1984, Egurbide became Milford Jai Alai’s player manager, a post he held until his retirement from the front office 16 years later, in 2000. In that position, Egurbide continued to mentor and impart his great love for the sport that defined his entire adult life to yet another generation of young Jai Alai players. Egurbide as a players’ manager was tough but fair. Part of the reason he won the admiration of all those he came in contact with, even those who disagreed with him.
Jose Antonio and Elisabeth Egurbide were married in Lezo, Spain in 1961 and they had four children. He leaves behind his beloved spouse of 62 years, Elisabeth, his sister Itziar Egurbide of Spain and three surviving children: Jose Antonio, Jr. in Los Angeles, California, Edurne in San Francisco, California and Xavier in Weston, Connecticut. Egurbide’s oldest child, Cristina, passed away in 2017. Egurbide also leaves behind his eleven grandchildren Mikael, Kristen, Alex, Cristian, Lucas, Jakob, Gabriel, Olivia, Xavier, Kayla and Amelia, as well as one great-grandchild, Isla.

David Joseph Fish
David J. Fish, 85, of_Milford CT, beloved husband for 59 years of Jennifer Barbour
Fish, passed away after a hard-fought battle on Saturday, July 15, 2023. Born on August 20, 1937 in Queens, New York he was the son of the late Eleanor Birdsall and Eugene Fish and the brother of George Henry (Lil) Fish of Utah.
Dave grew up in East Meadow NY, attended East Meadow Grammar School and graduated with honors from Hempstead High School. From there he attended Hofstra University and graduated with a BA in Business; later he received his Masters degree from the Hartford Graduate Center. He was a Sergeant in the Army where he was stationed in Germany. Dave enjoyed coaching youth basketball, he loved being on the water in his kayak or canoe, loved bowling, golf, fishing, bird watching and, more recently, corn-hole; he was a life-long member in Milford Elks Lodge No. 1589.
Dave is survived by his daughter, Barbara Fish Smith (Richard) of Brewster MA; son, Christopher Fish (Janine) of Milford CT; grandchildren Erin (Quinn) Hogue of Newtown CT, Bradley Fish of Burlington VT; Vayda and Victor Smith of Brewster MA; step-grandchildren Logan and Connor Stafford of Milford CT; Sister in law, Eleanor Barbour (Paula) of Brooklyn Heights NY and Brewster MA. Dave has an extended family of many nieces and nephews as well as devoted friends.
Dave worked for many years for the Rough Notes and Rough Notes –AA Companies that supported the insurance industry. After several other jobs he ended up at the IRS where he worked as an agent for 12 years. After retirement he worked for Taxpayers Services of Milford. Dave was predeceased by brothers, Eugene and Edward Fish.
Burial will be private with a Celebration of Life in September.

Jeanne H. Cavalieri Flynn
She was an Elementary School teacher, spending much of her career supporting the Bridgeport Catholic School system. Jeanne was a devout Catholic and loved St. Patrick’s Parish. A member of the Home School Ladies Guild of St. Patrick’s, the prayer line, Daily Morning Mass Group and the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Group, she was proud counter of the offertory money on Monday mornings.
Jeanne grew up in the Hollow section of Bridgeport with her sisters. They loved their days spent at Seaside Park in the summers. Jeanne built many strong and beautiful friendships throughout her lifetime. Always there for others, selfless in her actions to make others happy. She enjoyed lunches and day trips with her friends. She was known for her humor and her ability to listen to others and give sound advice. She was also famous for her Eggplant Parmesan, Chicken Cacciatore, Manicotti (made properly with crepes), served every Good Friday and her potato salad.
She was present at all her children’s sporting and school events-often a volunteer at the fairs, bingo, and other activities. Her house was often the go-to house in the neighborhood.
Jeanne lived for her family and friends. As her own children moved on to adulthood, she focused on her grandchildren-attending every one of their sports, plays, recitals that she could get to-she became Nonni not only to Christopher, Julia and Aedan, but also their many friends and families!
She especially enjoyed weekly pasta night with her children and grandchildren… eating too much pasta and dessert while playing games-the last game of Apples to Apples she won resoundingly! A lover of books, Jeopardy, and crosswords, she was sharp as a tack.
The family would like to thank Connecticut Hospice in Branford for their care, compassion, and dignity shown to Jeanne in her final days… we are eternally grateful for the peace you brought to not only Jeanne, but us as well!!
Survived by her loving children who will miss her dearly: Chris Flynn and his wife Kristen (Naugatuck), Mary and her cat George (Southbury), Kathleen and her fiancé Greg (Milford), her beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Julia, and Aedan, and her devoted sister, Phyllis Youd. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and great-grandnieces and nephews, all of whom feel blessed to have known her and felt her love!

Angelina (Goodman) Gange
Angie taught Kindergarten in the Milford School system from 1959 until her retirement in 1983. In retirement she loved to travel, was active in a Hunter College Alumni chapter and the Women’s Fellowship of First United Church of Christ in Milford. She was an avid reader (“histories and mysteries”), crossword puzzler, word searcher and letter writer/card sender. A three time cancer survivor (bladder, breast and uterine) before glioblastoma brought her rapid decline she remained independent until her last days amazing staff at the Orchards, the VA in Newington, and Hospice with her unintentional wit, her wise observations on life and her gentle embrace of her pending death. She was a marvel as a great mom and self-described “simple gal who lived a simple life.”
She is survived by her sister Joan Tuttle on Long Island, her daughter Karen Stockwell (Jim O’Reilly) of Hamden and Chicago, son Rev. Paul Goodman (Patrick Timpanelli) of Branford, granddaughter Allison Stockwell and great-granddaughter Alexandra Stockwell both of Chicago, numerous nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.
Her cremains will be placed in a family niche at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY.
Alexander Hall
He was born in Pelham, New York before relocating to Milford with his family during high school. He graduated from Milford High School, where he played varsity baseball. He earned his undergraduate degree at Central Connecticut State University, where he also played baseball, before earning a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Bridgeport. He began his professional life in education before transitioning to real estate sales. Alex worked for George J. Smith & Sons and Arnold Peck Realty in the areas of commercial, industrial and investment real estate before partnering with Ralph Salito to create Hall & Salito Real Estate.
Alex was a life member of the Milford Elks Lodge #1589 B.P.O.E, where he held several positions and participated in a number of the Lodge’s charitable activities, including the Wojo Invitational benefitting local high school golf programs. From 1980-1982, he served as the volunteer golf coach for Milford High School.
After a successful professional career, he retired to Florida, where he was able to enjoy the warm weather and many rounds of golf. During retirement, Alex used his “people skills” while serving as a ranger and starter at The Country Club at Mirasol.
In 2018, he relocated to Allentown, Pennsylvania to spend his final years near family under the care of the wonderful staff at the Cedarbook Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harry Hall; and is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Hall and wife Eileen of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Christopher Hall of West Haven, Connecticut, his daughter, Kimberly Hall-O’Meara and husband Kevin O’Meara of St. Augustine, Florida and two grandchildren, Ryan and Mackenzie Hall.
Arrangements in Pennsylvania were handled by Pearson Funeral Home, Bethlehem. Burial took place at Milford Cemetery, Milford, Connecticut.
Magdalene Havadtoy
Magdalene attended the Detroit Conservatory of Music, studying concert piano. A published author of the historical book “Down in Villa Park” about the Hungarians in Fairfield, she was also gold medal recipient of the Canadian Robert Burns award for excellence in writing. Wife of the late Reverend Dr. Alexander Havadtoy, they resided in Fairfield for 33 years before retiring to Milford.
Magdalene is survived by her two daughters, Sandra and Leila; and two grandchildren, Luke and Sasha Gomulka of Coronado, California. A quiet source is strength, she keeps our hearts beating still, even while they are breaking.

Joseph F. Hellauer
After graduating from Fairfield Prep in 1952 and the College of the Holy Cross in 1956, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He honorably served on active duty for four years and 26 years in the Air Force Reserve, retiring as a Colonel. He also received his M.B.A. from the University of New Haven in 1976.
Using his experience in sales as a manufacturer’s representative, he and his wife successfully formed their own company, Electronic Marketing, in 1972, from which he retired in 2001.
In late 1974, he moved to Woodbridge and joined the Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Department, serving as a member for 45 years. From 2001 to 2013, he served as the Administrative Officer for the Town of Woodbridge, helping many people in the town.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gail (MacLeod) Hellauer, and their children: Joseph F. Hellauer III (Katrine), Kristin H. Leary (Mark), Dana Carroll Hellauer, Heidi H. Bullock (Douglas), and Kurt M. Hellauer (Amie); eleven grandchildren: Samantha Jones (D.J.) and Thomas Hellauer, Gehrig, Wagner, Madison, and Camden Leary, Laura, Tucker, and Timothy Bullock, Mary and Erin Hellauer; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Jones; and his two brothers, James Carroll Hellauer (Carolyn) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and William Alan Hellauer of Radiant, VA.

Deb is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Wayne Renton, her loving mother JoAnne Kelly, her brothers Kevin, Keith and his wife Mary Anne, and Tim and his wife Peggy, her sisters-in-law Susan and her husband Paul and Marilyn and brothers-in-law Craig and his wife Denise and Robert and his wife Karen. She is also survived by her cherished nieces Bethany, Claire and Katie and nephews Ryan, Peter, and Danny.
Debbie grew up in Old Saybrook and graduated from Mercy High School in Middletown Ct and earned degrees from Johnson & Wales and the University of New Haven. Debbie was a long-time employee of SNET prior to retiring and concentrating on her home life, which included hosting holiday gatherings, baking for family and friends, gardening, and traveling. Island vacations were her favorite. She enjoyed yoga and getting together with her friends. She also loved her furry friends and could not pass one without a cheerful greeting.
The family will receive visitors at the Cody White Funeral Home in Milford CT on Friday July 7, 2023 from 5 to 8 pm. Joan (Hurley) Kirker
Joan was a graduate of Northampton High School. She then received her bachelor’s degree at Smith College followed by her master’s degree from the University of Rhode Island. Joan worked as a reading consultant and classroom teacher in Norwich and New London, for 29 years before her retirement.
Joan married her husband John A. Kirker Sr. June 26, 1959, by the Rev. McCue at St. Patrick Cathedral in Norwich. She was part of many organizations including the Sacred Heart Rosary Society, Norwich, CT Teacher’s League, CT Education Association, a member of Alpha Delta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gamma Education Honor Societies, and part of the Smith College Club of Sarasota, Fla.
Joan is survived by her husband John Sr.; two sons, John Jr. of Norwich, and Steven P. of Santa Barbara, Calif.; daughter Kathleen L. of Milford; sister Barbara Bonaccorso of N. Andover, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Lois (Hurley) Gromko.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Joan will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, at the Cathedral of St. Patrick, 213 Broadway, Norwich. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Mausoleum, 815 Boswell Avenue, Norwich.
Barbara LeMere
Barbara E. LeMere, 80, of Orange and beloved wife of Peter LeMere for 60 years, passed away on July 12, 2023. Born on April 28, 1943 in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Frances Riehm.
Barbara and Peter met as young campers at Lake Waramaug, which grew into a forever love and were blessed with a wonderful family. She adored all her grandchildren and was very proud of their accomplishments. Barbara rarely missed the opportunity to share the love that flowed off her crochet needles. Numerous awards and ribbons only began to show her passion for growing competition level African violets. Her wonderful infectious personality greeted everyone in her path as a friend. She had a keen eye for spotting that special recipe and sharing with all her besties. No matter where she went, there were always four legs of love with a wagging tail at her side.
Along with her devoted husband of many years, Barbara is survived by her sons, Peter (Lori), Gary (Pamela), Matthew (Megan), and Randy (Sarah); grandchildren, Peter, Jessica, Ryan, Kyle (Lizzy), Jonah, Kaylie, Sarah and Megan’s sons Michael and Matthew McKlosky; her cherished great granddaughter, Jane; sister, Lynda (George) Harenberg; loyal labrador Maggie; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

George F. Lewis
George F. Lewis, 97, of Orange, beloved husband of the late Anna Fiorillo Lewis, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Born on June 13, 1926 in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Eliza (DeFreitas) Lewis.
George was a proud U.S. Naval veteran, who served during WWII aboard LST 919 in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, and took part in the Leyte, Lingayen Gulf, and Mindanao Island landings. He received many medals for his honorable actions. Following his service, George was a watchmaker for Benrus Watch Company and later worked for Parker Instruments, Frigitronics, and Orange Research as a prototype engineer. After retirement George enjoyed making jewelry for family and friends, especially traditional Caribbean bangle bracelets, which were worn by his family for generations. George was an avid gun collector and participated in Civil War re-enactments. He loved cars, had a great sense of humor, and wrote a comical book about his adventures aboard LST919. He was a beloved husband, father, and “Poppy” who will be dearly missed by those who loved him.
George is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Brelsford and her husband, Gary of Naples, FL and Linda Meisenheimer and her husband, Richard of Orange, CT; four grandchildren, Brendan Brelsford and wife Ping Pan, Stephanie Green and husband Jordan, Richard Meisenheimer III, and Andrea DeCrosta and husband Justin. Eight great-grandchildren: Kaia, Luna and Sid Green, Milania and Marquesa DeCrosta, and Olivia, Edwin and Bella Brelsford. Two brothers: Joseph and Stanley Lewis and many nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by two sisters: Julia Salerno and Isabel Romeo.

Jean Marie Lewis
Jean Marie Lewis, 87, of Orange passed away with her family at her side on July 14, 2023, at Maplewood of Orange. For 67 years, she was the loving wife of Donald Jackson Lewis, Sr.
Jean was born in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Malaby. She is survived by her children, Debra Corey and her husband Craig of CO, Donald Lewis Jr. and his wife Bonnye, and Karen McDermott and her husband Douglas, all of Orange; her 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; as well as her sister Shirley MacDonald of MD. She was predeceased by her siblings, Margaret Gibson and Marion Kelly. (Her husband passed away in Jan. 2022)
Jean was a travel agent at Racebook Travel Agency for many years and enjoyed visiting numerous countries, her favorites including Ireland, Greece, and the Caribbean islands. Jean, known as “Jean the Dancing Queen,” and her husband loved to entertain their family and friends.
She lived a full life as a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Jean will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Family and friends are invited to go directly to the Orange Congregational Church, 205 Meetinghouse Lane, on Friday at 2:30 p.m. for a funeral service. There will be no hours for visitation. Joseph A. LoCasto
Joseph A. LoCasto, 82, of Milford, beloved husband of Susan (Dollard) LoCasto, passed away on July 3, 2023. Born on October 14, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph S. and Jean (DeMaria) LoCasto.
Joe graduated from Sewanhaka High School and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Adelphi University. He proudly served in the United States Army before moving to Milford in 1979. Prior to his retirement, Joe worked for the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections. Family was Joe’s joy and passion. His grandchildren were his biggest delight and they owned his heart.
In addition to his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Joe is survived by his children, William LoCasto, Joseph P. (Jen) LoCasto, Leslie (Nick) Germana, and Heather (Robert) Lewis; his 12 grandchildren, Katelynn, Lara, Joe, Alex, Logan, Asia, Riley, Dylan, Henry, Ella, Evan, and Lily; 1 great grandson, Nolan; his siblings-in-law, Terrance Dollard, Paul (Sarah) Dollard, Stephen (Karen) Dollard, Deborah (Brian) Milosky; his nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and cousins who were like siblings to him.

Arlene E. (Leggett) Milo
Arlene E. Milo, age 98, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Luke Milo, died on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 surrounded by her loving daughters. Arlene was born and raised in Wanamie PA on May 29, 1925 to the late Blanche (Thomas) and William Leggett. She lived in a big house with her parents, brother, aunts, uncle and cousins Doris and George. She liked to remind us that in those days grammar school children came home for lunch (even in the snow!). She had to navigate the steep hills, railroad tracks, sulfur creek and highway 4 times a day. Thankfully, Newport Township High School was just down the hill, so she got her workout as a majorette.
Arlene received her nurses training at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in PA. She was one of approximately 120,000 who graduated as part of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. The corps was established by President Franklin Roosevelt to address the nursing shortage stateside during WW II. Cadets worked on the wards in addition to classroom activity. Upon graduation Arlene was scheduled to report to the Navy for assignment but with the war winding down she was relieved of her obligation.
As an RN, she worked at Nanticoke General Hospital where she met patient Luke Milo. It wasn’t love at first sight but he persisted and they married in 1949 and moved to Connecticut to raise a family.
Arlene continued her love of nursing, working at Milford Hospital for 35 years. Her retirement pastime centered on her dog Christy, who she “stole” from Terry. She enjoyed her lunches with Cousin Doris and her many adventures with sister-in-law Mary. Arlene enjoyed working the jumble puzzle, competing with Janet to see who could get the words the fastest.
Arlene is survived by her two loving daughters, Terry Lee Milo of Stamford and Janet Ellen Milo of Milford, loved ones, Doris Carichner of Milford, Ann Carichner of Bristol, Todd (Leslie) Carichner of Wolcott, Tammy Carichner-Senderoff (Tom) of Wolcott, Katelyn (Brandon) Hall of AR, Carol (Bill) Tomas of NJ, Gloria (Ken) Rust of FL, Richard (Suzanne) Pisaturo of OK, Josephine (Warren) Smith of NY, Helen Beaudette of CT, John (Thea) Milo of NY and many nieces and nephews. Anne Rapini
Anne will be remembered always as a caring and dedicated mother to Janice DeVylder, Dennis and Linda Rapini, Albert and Marla Rapini, as well as Darryl Rapini and Audrey Chung; grandmother to Michelle DeVylder and Seth Abbott; Peter J. DeVylder, Matthew Rapini, as well as Sandra Yost; and great-grandmother to Rhett Abbott.
Anne was a resident of Orange for 60 years, and was actively involved in her community, including membership of the Orange Garden Club and Holy Infant Women’s Guild. She was a woman of faith, and a devout Catholic who participated in daily Mass on television. Anne was an avid fan of UConn Women’s Basketball, spent hours listening to music, and enjoyed her hobby of needlework. Her fondest joy was supporting all of her children’s endeavors.

Patrick S. Rooney
Patrick Sean Rooney, 58, of Milford passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded in the love of his family. He was born May 26, 1965 in Bridgeport to the late Gerard and Ann Marie Rooney.
Patrick graduated college with a degree in electro-mechanical engineering. He worked for the Moore Tool Company for many years on complex projects for the National Labs. He also worked for Sikorsky Aircraft and Los Alamos National Lab. Patrick loved playing his guitar and was a long time member of the coverband Knockout. He enjoyed taking rides on his Harley motorcycle with friends and trips to Block Island with his sons and Paula Provenzano. Taking his son Jacob to his hockey games and practices was one of his joys and also taking his son Zachary fishing and working on projects around his home. Patrick was very proud of his sons and they are heart-broken and will miss him immensely.
Patrick leaves behind his sons: Zachary and Jacob Rooney; brothers: Anthony Rooney and wife, Diane and Gerald Rooney; the mother of his children and friend, Virginia Cabeleira, several nieces, a nephew and many long time friends he considered family.

Lisa Joella Veccharelli Rua, 56, of Milford, passed away on June 30, 2023 after a sudden illness. Born on May 23, 1967 in Milford, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Katherine (Knox) Veccharelli.
Lisa is survived by her beloved children, Angelina (Shaun) Harper, Alison (David) Phelan, and Stephanie Rua; cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Luke, Tyler, and Madison; siblings, Linda Secondi, Dominick (Kathy) Veccharelli, Vincent Veccharelli, and Peter (Lynn) Veccharelli; nieces, Norma, Melissa, Mary, Shannon, Katie, Kelly, Amanda, and Alisha; several great nieces and nephews; fur baby, Molly; and many adoring friends. William E. Stanton
William E. Stanton, age 97, formerly of Bellefonte, PA, passed peacefully on July 9, 2023 at home in Milford, CT. As Bill would say: “Happy Motoring.” He was lovingly cared for by his wife of 74 years, Margery Elizabeth (Jackson) Stanton, who preceded him in passing (nine short months ago), and his daughter, Lynne Stanton Rotan. He was born on February 10, 1926 in Wilkes Barre, PA, to the late Harold M. Stanton and Sarah Pero Stanton.
Bill is survived by four daughters, Kathy (Thomas) Boughter, Lynne Rotan, Kristin (John) Conway, Amy (Robert) Besante, son-in-law, Edgar Runkle and canine companion, DeeDee. His grandchildren called him Bill: Sarah Boughter, Katherine (David) Klingerman, Jonathan (Erikka) Runkle, Elizabeth (Katherine) Runkle, Abigail (Justin) Conway-Malins, William (Margaret) Conway, Thomas Conway, Caleb (Becca) Fischer, and Benjamin Fischer. He has twelve great grandchildren. One of fifteen, Bill will be missed by his brother, John Stanton and sister, Carol Duda; sisters-in law, Geraldine DePaulo and Kay Korman Schultz; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his daughter, Robin Runkle; son, William Stanton, Jr.; son-in-law, Dennis Rotan; great-grandchildren, Emerson and Jackson Runkle; siblings, Marion, Harold, Ann, Florence, Arlene, June, Lois, Betty, Donald, David and Joseph.
Mechanically gifted, Bill tinkered on bikes and vehicles and was a professional auto mechanic by age fourteen. His talent and hard work earned him a partnership and General Manager position at Stocker Chevrolet in Bellefonte before owning his own dealership, Bill Stanton Chevrolet Buick in Wellsboro, PA. Aside from his wife and family, cars, boats and airplanes were his passion. Consummate flippers, Marge and Bill started off with little outboards at Maryland’s Seneca Creek State Park and traded their way up to yachting (though you would never hear them use that word) on the Chesapeake Bay. He was a certified pilot who built and flew his own hobby planes throughout his life.
Bill served proudly in World War II as a Fireman First Class aboard the USS Halloran, a destroyer escort vessel, in the Pacific Theater.
Devoted to God, Marge brought Bill to the Lord; they attended Nittany Valley Alliance Church, Mingoville, PA.

Donna L. Torrenti
Donna L. Torrenti, 66, of Orange, CT passed away on July 8, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with illness. She was the beloved wife of Thomas A. Torrenti. Donna was born in Syracuse, NY on May 12, 1957, daughter of the late Donald G. and Dorice (Waters) Lundgren.
Growing up, Donna was an accomplished horseback rider and competed in many events throughout Upstate NY. She attended high school in Manlius, NY, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from Syracuse University. Tom and Donna were married on July 18, 1981, and enjoyed nearly 42 years together. She practiced as a Registered Dietitian for several years, then retired to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a homemaker and mother, raising her children with remarkable love and devotion. Despite her ailments, Donna always had a warm smile for everyone. She was also deeply devoted to her beloved mother-in-law and sidekick, Beatrice Torrenti, with whom she spent countless hours. Donna would be disappointed if her seven pound guard dog, Carmella, who fiercely defended her bedside in her final weeks, wasn’t acknowledged.
Donna leaves her three children, Donald Eugene (Aldana Ferrer Garcia) Torrenti of New York City, John Thomas (Madeline) Torrenti of Norwalk, CT and Dana Grace (Stuart) Kaplan of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, and her two grandsons, George Luca and Frank Salvatore Torrenti of Norwalk, CT. She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Debra (Scott) Tirrell of San Bernardino, CA and Darlene (Alan Montclair) Boone of Parish, NY, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Vincent P. Veccharelli
Vincent P. Veccharelli, 64, of Seymour and originally Milford, beloved fiancé of the late Theresa “Terry” Williams, passed away on July 14, 2023 after battling chronic illness and doing things his way. Vinny made his presence known. Born two months premature, in Milford, CT on September 15, 1958, he was the son of the late Dominick and Katherine (Knox) Veccharelli.
A true river rat, Vinny loved to be out on the water and watch his family and friends enjoy boating, swimming, and jet skiing. It wasn’t a good cookout without Hummel hotdogs. “Bring all your girlfriends. No boys allowed,” he would say. His favorite thing in life was watching his grand kids grow up and spoiling them with a good time. Although he didn’t indulge, he was a passionate hobbyist and horticulturist who was blacklisted from purchasing marijuana seeds from multiple entities, but still managed to grow enough to give it away. In addition to his jars, which he demanded back, he enjoyed giving gifts of Ocean State gloves and socks to everyone at the holidays. He made sure to return Tupperware to his amazing neighbors, who took such great care of him when he was sick, even though he wrote his thanks on their container in Sharpie. He couldn’t spell anything right but labeled everything he owned with his initials, VPV. He was a man of values, “It’s not the point; it’s the principle”, he’d shout. He put in his will that Tom still owes him a gallon of oil (it was his good oil, too) and Nick never returned his paint sprayer.
Vinny’s love language and favorite past time was yelling. The louder, the better.
If Vinny didn’t like something, he would let you know. Things he disliked: shoes in his house, “cheap burgers”, and Pier34. He was known for his “beer dogs” which he perfected by upgrading from Busch to Miller. He loved slot cars, electric/gas cars, and tank cars; especially his 1995 Cadillac. As a kid, he was enthusiastic about dirt bikes and motocross. He enjoyed good seafood and trips to Florida. He was a passionate and lively individual, some may say boisterous. But he was also caring and always made sure to tell the people he cared about how much he loved them.
He had a huge heart, loved animals, and to Vinny, everything had sentimental value. Not one to ever throw anything away, he would duct tape a fly swatter rather than buy a new one, and his boat cover was basically made of gorilla glue. Vinny lived his life just like how he smoked his cigarettes, unfiltered. His voicemails, inappropriate comments, and general presence will be missed. He was a one-of-a-kind guy.
Vinny is survived by his siblings, Linda Secondi, Dominick (Kathy) Veccharelli, Peter (Lynn) Veccharelli; step-daughter, Norma (Al) Rosado; grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Howe, Sabrina (Roy) Fitzgerald, and Myranda (Damian Litwa) Williams; great granddaughter, Skylar; nieces, Melissa, Shannon, Mary, Katie, Kelly, Amanda, Angelina, Alison, Alisha, and Stephanie; several great nieces and nephews; his cat, Charlie; and his turtle, Turtle. Vinny was predeceased by his siblings, Nancy (Greg) Smith, Delbert Darcy, and Lisa Veccharelli Rua.

Philip J. Waisonovitz
Philip J. Waisonovitz, 66, of Milford, Connecticut, beloved husband of Elizabeth Waisonovitz, passed away on July 6, 2023. Born on August 8, 1956, he was the son of the late Stanley & Dorothy (Ruby) Waisonovitz.
In addition to his beloved wife Elizabeth, Philip is survived by his son Philip Waisonovitz and daughter-in-law Ashley Barker. Philip is predeceased by his sister Leigh Ryan. He is survived by his mother-in-law Ana Sotomayor and extended family, along with countless friends. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Benny.
Philip was born and raised in Milford, CT where he attended Milford High School. He was a train master engineer at Metro-North Railroad for several decades. He enjoyed golfing, skiing, and spending time working on his well-manicured yard and garden which was admired by neighbors and friends. Philip also enjoyed working out at the gym, hitting the heavy bag and held a brown belt in Kenpo Karate. He was an avid runner, completing many road races including several half marathons. Philip was a top notch softball umpire as well, umpiring some of the most prestigious softball tournaments in the country.
Philip loved to travel especially to coastal destinations were he enjoyed swimming, kayaking and boogie boarding. He especially enjoyed afternoon walks on the beach with wife Liz and his dog Benny.
Philip was loved dearly by all who met him. He made an impact on many lives and he will be forever missed.

Michael “Waj” Wajnowski
Michael “Waj” Wajnowski, 61, of Orange beloved husband of Denise Marczak Wajnowski passed away on July 19, 2023 surrounded by his family in Yale New Haven Hospital. Loving father of Jake D. Wajnowski of Orange. Michael was born in New Haven on March 8, 1962 beloved son of Marlene Torre of Orange and the late Stanley Wajnowski. Brother of Mark (Donna) Wajnowski of West Haven and Gregory (Selina) Wajnowski of San Rafael, CA. Uncle of Daniel (Janice) Wajnowski, Nicholas (Keisha) Wajnowski, Krista (Jim) Mallico, Breanna (Paul Matos) Wajnowski, Melissa (Megan) Manning, Ryan (Taylor Noe) Manning and Zachary Wajnowski. Son-in-law of Mary Silliman Marczak of Milford and the late David Marczak. Brother-in-law of Lisa (Jeffrey) Manning and Karen Marczak. Michael’s lifelong career was being a Project Manager/Estimator for All-Brite Electric. He held his full-time position for 35 years, working up until his passing. His work ethic was second to none. Arriving at the office at 5:45 am and never leaving before 5:00 pm. Everyone in the Electrical world knew him, respected him and loved working with him. He worked hard but played hard too, being an avid golfer and a pretty good one at that. He loved spending his weekends on the golf course and even had a hole in one at Hilton Head (Hole #17) in 2010. He loved his golf, his golf buddies and his annual trips to Shawnee, PA every Father’s Day and countless tournaments with his fun loving, beer drinking and occasional whiskey tipping buddies, the stories were hysterical and never ended. When he wasn’t golfing, he enjoyed working in the yard. Greens were important whether on the course or at the house. He methodically cut his lawn North to South and then switched the next cut East to West. He had it down to an exact science. His Dad did it this way, and he just continued the tradition. His biggest accomplishment and pride of joy was his son, Jake. He was the center of his universe, and Michael would just beam ear to ear when the subject was about his buddy pal, Jake. He also loved playing with the Dutch Wharf Softball team in the weekly night league. He was in his element and catcher was his game. He was a powerhouse and could smack that ball out of the park. He was affectionately dubbed NUMBER 15. His love for animals was big, especially dogs. Growing up with dogs as a child and continuing the love for himself and his family. And rescues were the way to go, he loved his Labradors, Duke, Lambeau and Beau. Speaking of Lambeau, as he chose to name his second rescue affectionately after his beloved Green Bay Packers. That was his team, and he loved visiting Wisconsin to see the games live with the cheesehead and all. Packers for the Winter and the New York Yankees in the Spring. He never wavered – a committed lifelong fan. He also had a deep appreciation and love of music, Bob Dylan, Allman Brothers, Bruce Springsteen and favorite of all – The Weight/The Band. Michael was loved by all. He impacted so many lives in every aspect of his 61 years. Only the good die young fits perfectly, a major loss and a pleasure to have known him.

Peter A. Weinstein, 85, of Woodbridge, devoted husband of 64 years to Mryna (Cohen) Weinstein, died at his home on Friday night, July 21, 2023. Born in New Haven, on Sept. 4, 1937, he was the son of the late Louis and Lottie (Albert) Weinstein.
Beloved father of Cheryl Amdur (Stuart) and Lisa Simon (Michael). Dear brother of the late Ellen Casper. Cherished grandfather of Jordan and Nicole, Jonathan, Rebecca, & Andrew. Treasured great-grandfather of Emma.
