Job Network In Orange To Help With Resumes, Interviews

The Housatonic River Job Network will be hosting events with two guest speakers on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Case Memorial Library in Orange to help people perfect their interviewing skills and resume cover letters.

The first session, which begins at 11 a.m., is titled “Top 10 Interviewing Tips to Improve Your Job Search” and will feature guest speaker Tina Kadish, owner of Life Is Ideal.

Kadish is a freedom strategist who incorporates life coaching, helps people get motivated and develops a solid business action plan for their future. She offers personalized one-on-one coaching sessions and seminars.

Kadish began her career in corporate America as a progressive training and development professional, specializing in talent acquisition. Throughout her 13-year career as a recruiter in corporate America, she had the opportunity to fill positions on a day in, day out basis. This gave her perspective into how companies filled their open positions and what the best candidates did to succeed.

Her talk will focus on what to do and not to do during an interview, what recruiters look for from interviewees and how to follow up after an interview the right way to maximize success.

The second session, which starts at 1:30 p.m., is titled “Effective Resume and Cover Letter Strategies in Today’s Market” and features guest speaker Anne Graney, owner of A.G. Resume Services.

In her previous career as an office administrator with a major law firm for over 25 years, Graney was involved as the gatekeeper in hundreds of hiring decisions. Her job responsibilities included writing job descriptions and advertising for open positions. She also was involved in the entire on-board process – including screening, interviewing, and hiring candidates.

Now the owner of her own company, Graney is using her extensive experience to assist job seekers in reviewing, revising and creating resumes. She also assists with sourcing appropriate jobs and interview coaching.

Her presentation will offer tips to create a resume and cover letter that gets results. At the conclusion of her talk, she will also touch on the interviewing process from the perspective of the interviewer.  Topics will include how to get through the screening process and the best way to showcase your skills on a resume. She will also discuss how to best prepare for an interview, how to increase your chances of getting an offer and how to follow up.
