Polls Open May 17 For Orange Budget Referendum

Orange will hold its annual budget referendum on May 17, during which voters will vote yea or nay on the town’s finances for the year.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at High Plains Community Center, located at 525 Orange Center Rd. Residents from all districts in town can vote at the community center.

The budget, which was unanimously adopted by the Board of Finance prior to being put before voters, would lower the town’s mill rate slightly, from 32.71 down to32.31.

The vote only includes the town and Orange Public Schools portions of the budget. The Amity portion was approved by voters on May 2 in a separate referendum.
