Janice Frederickson Carter
Janice Frederickson Carter passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the age of 80. Born in Bridgeport on February 13, 1946, Janice and her husband, Jim, moved to Woodmont, Connecticut in 1970 to raise their family, and she lived there for more than 55 years.
Above all else, Janice was a loving wife and mother who devoted her life to her family. She and Clarence “Jim” Carter III were married for 58 years, until his passing in April 2025. Their union was blessed with four children: the late Kelli Goulart (Rich), Mary D’Amato (James), Kevin Carter (Kristin), and Hope Martin (Jake). Janice was proud of her children and raised them to be kind and outgoing, just as she was. She was a devoted grandmother to James and Frank D’Amato, who affectionately knew her as “Nanny.”
Janice was a caretaker through and through, always making sure everyone else had what they needed before she thought of herself. Her door on Howe Street was always open, and for generations of neighborhood kids it was the house for sleepovers, pool parties, and summer afternoons on the slip and slide. She loved her cats, her soap operas, Barry Mannilow, and a good piece of gossip. She was never without her pocketbook or her lipstick. Sundays were for family: fairs, restaurants, shopping trips, and her favorite outing of all, a day at the casino.
Janice never drove, and she never needed to. She walked everywhere. She sold Avon for over 40 years and gave countless hours volunteering at the Milford public schools her children attended, including Fannie Beach, Seabreeze, East Shore, and Live Oaks. For more than 20 years she also worked part time at the local corner store, where the people were not coworkers and customers, but family, and where she was known simply as “Mama.”
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Janice’s memory may be made to The Purple Pantry Boxes of Milford.

To Monica, being a mother was not just a role; it was an art form, a sacred duty, and her absolute favorite adventure.
Her home was a haven—always filled with warmth, the smell of freshly brewed coffee or warm chocolate chip cookies, and the comforting reassurance that you were safe the moment you walked through the door. Erin Ellen Moreshead
Erin was love and Erin was loved. She was a miracle from the start. The 11th of 12 children who never gave up trying to survive. She lived a life of constant pain and suffering but was often happy and smiling with a keen sense of humor. She could not speak but was always able to get her point across for her wants and needs. She was an Angel on earth, put here to challenge the resolve and intention of others. She was a test, a gift for us to show our humanity, our love and compassion. She was sent earth to give all a chance to redeem themselves from any bad Karma we may have racked up over the years. She was pure love and light and if she loved you, you felt it and if she didn’t you knew it.
My earliest memories of Erin are in Yale New Haven emergency department for the multiple medical issues like Pneumonias and Kidney infections. I remember countless times our primary care physician Dr. Connor came to our house to treat her. I remember my mom feeding her with a syringe due to her cleft palate and inability to take a bottle. I remember sleeping with her in her crib trying to get her asleep at night, which was always difficult. Her siblings and I would piggyback her everywhere in the beginning and we would entertain her to keep her happy with singing and games. She loved music and would often hum to herself a few recognizable bars, so we knew which one to sing for her. She loved piggyback rides, going fast in the wagon, and swinging. She loved the pool but always wanted to turn the float over and be dunked under water! She was a terror in the pool.
She was spoiled rotten growing up as she should have been. She had so much stimulation from us as a family. There was very little support in the community back then for such a severely handicapped child and when she was about 9-10 years old, she was placed at Mansfield training school, and this was really devastating to take her there. We went to visit her every Sunday, and it was horrific. She stayed there about 15 years till we were able to convince my parents that a group home would be so much better for her and it was such a blessing. My parents were devoted to her and throughout their lives they made sure she cared for the best way they knew how. Here sister Kerry and I took over as her guardians when her care became too much for them to manage, and we have seen to it that Erin has the best of everything we can provide for her. Her brother Dennis was an all time favorite with the staff and with Erin when he brought her coffee and hash browns. Her sister Kathy also visited her to provide treats for Erin and the staff for holidays and special occasions as well.
Erin was so lucky to have the Angels who work at her group home to care for her. She has been with Tynese now for many years and Dwana as an advocate to ensure that she was safe and happy. Her staff over the years and now at Milford Point Group Home are the most caring and compassionate people on the planet. I thank God for them every day and pray all good things come to them. They will be rewarded now with a special Angel to watch over them like they watched over her. My Parents were incredibly grateful for all your love and attention that they gave every day to her.
Erin loved Music, she loved coffee, Neco wafers, Cheeto’s, coffee, Peanut butter cups, McDonalds, DD coffee and hash browns. She was not above taking what she wanted, and she had been known to steal coffee if left unattended.
Erin made the world a better place by reminding us how lucky we are every day to be able to do even the simplest things by ourselves. Freedom from chronic pain and illnesses is also a blessing and she suffered so but rarely showed it. We need to remember the gifts that we have and always strive to provide and love those who depend on us for care.
I would like to extend special thanks to Tynese, Gladys, Dwana, Barbara, Myriam, Nichelle, Rosemarie, Keisha, and Gwen for caring for Erin in such a loving way. You deserve a place in heaven. We would also like to extend our thanks to her Day Program Accord Inc. where Erin attended and whose staff was wonderful and loved Erin and basically entertained her all day. Erin loved her staff and enjoyed school.
I will close by wishing you all happiness and peace. I know you will be rewarded for the kindness and compassion you have shown to those who depend on your care. Erin will be deeply missed, but we are grateful that she is at peace, and we take comfort in knowing that Mom and Dad were waiting patiently to bring her home.

Ornella was born in Senigallia, in Ancona, Italy, on November 22nd, 1933, to Ida and Atillio Moretti. In 1956, at the age of 22, Ornella began her journey from Italy to the United States by boat. Shortly after arriving, she met her future husband, Joe, at the Pioneer Service Station, which he and his brother owned. The two were married in 1957 and shared 63 wonderful years together.

Family was the center of Ornella’s world. She was happiest when surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren. Her kitchen was the soul of her home-a place where love was served as generously with unforgettable meals. She had a true passion for cooking, and Sunday dinners were always something special. Her family will never forget the rich, inviting scent of the fried meatballs drifting from the kitchen and filling the house, almost as if they were dancing their way into your nose to wake you up. That familiar aroma became a hallmark of comfort and joy she created. Her kitchen was a place where family gathered, memories were made, and Ornella made sure that anyone who came though her door never left hungry.
Beyond her home, Ornella enjoyed getting out and having fun: trips to the casino and outings to Green Lake Resort with the East Shore Seniors. Her warmth, her generosity, and her unwavering love, which she gave so freely to her family, will remain with them always.
Ornella will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, her culinary gifts, her devotion to family, and the strength she carried throughout her life. Heaven has gained a beautiful soul, reunited at last with her husband and grandson.

Thomas K. Williams
Thomas Kenneth Williams Sr., 75, of Milford, passed away on September 11, 2026. Thom was born in Milford on April 21, 1951, moments after his twin brother Ken, and was the son of the late Kenneth and Rose (Salcito) Williams. Within the next few years, his sisters Geraldine and Diana followed.
Growing up steps from Long Island Sound, in a neighborhood populated with many families with similarly-aged children, the Williams kids had an adventurous and happy childhood. Thom was always pleased that many of these childhood friends are still his closest friends today.
Thom attended Kay Avenue Elementary School, graduated from Jonathan Law High School, and then entered the workforce as a sporting goods salesman at Alling Rubber Company at the Connecticut Post, Clampett’s in Fairfield, and eventually, The Milford Sports Shop in Milford Center. After a hard day of work, he stopped for a milkshake and was charmed by the young lady working at Carvel. Many milkshakes later, he and the former Debbie Bennett were married, and they recently, happily celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Three children later (Thomas, Jr., Jennifer, and Edward), Thom began his 30-year career as a FedEx courier. Despite the long hours, he found time to coach his kids’ sports teams and just be a fun and involved dad, whether it was pitching wiffleball, playing pool basketball, or a Sunday afternoon football game in the yard.
Retirement brought many golfing days at Grassy Hill Country Club, often with some of those same childhood friends and frequent trips to the casinos with his dear friend, Michael. Retirement also brought his beloved grandson, Eddie, and their many hours of fun times together, soccer games, and karate competitions.
Unfortunately, a short but dreadful battle with Lewy body dementia took Thom from our world.
Thom is survived by his cherished wife, Debbie, his children Thomas Williams, Jr. (Eve Chu), Jennifer (Nacho) Ochoa, and Edward Williams, and his grandson, Edward Ochoa. He also leaves his brother, Ken (Joan) Williams, and sister, Geraldine (Allan) Brown, as well as his nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his sister, Diana Battista, and his parents.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday September 18th, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Cody-White Funeral Home located at 107 Broad Street in Milford.
If desired, donations in Thom’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Naomi Young
Naomi Young, 90, of Delray Beach Fl and Woodbridge, CT passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2026 in the presence of her loving children and caregivers. Naomi was devoted to her family, friends and community – and embodied one of her favorite sayings, “a heart feels a heart”.
Naomi was born in the Bronx and attended City College of New York where she met the love of her life, Joel and they enjoyed 68 years of marriage. Together they formed the bedrock of a family tapestry that included daughters Shari (Marc), Lisa (Ron), Judi (Jim) and son Howard (Jessica), 8 grandchildren (Karia, Shawn, Micah, Jesse, Bella, Maddie, Jacob, Benjamin) and 2 great-grandchildren (Max, Quinn). Naomi had a beloved sister, Marilyn and she was devoted to her 3 nephews and cousins.
Naomi cherished family above all else and brought family together in many ways, including through food – she is revered for her famous yodel cake and noodle pudding which live on as a family tradition. Naomi was a good friend to all and maintained friendships spanning decades – childhood friends from the Bronx, a tight knit community in CT, and newfound friends in FL. Naomi earned several masters degrees and served for many years as Director of Senior Services at the New Haven JCC. Naomi loved to shop (and return); she enjoyed mahjongg, canasta and word games. Most of all
Naomi liked sharing in her family’s and friends’ successes and she made sure we all knew she was always there for us.
Donations in Naomi’s memory can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org.
