Energy company AVANGRID, Inc., which has offices in Orange, announced April 9 that Zsoka McDonald has joined the company as vice president of corporate communications, responsible for overseeing internal and external communications as well as corporate branding for the company. In this role, McDonald reports directly to AVANGRID CEO James Torgerson.

“Zsoka is a seasoned communications leader who understands the intersection between reputation and brand,” said Torgerson. “Energy is critical to our quality of life and Zsoka will lead efforts to enhance and accelerate meaningful dialogue around our brand and purpose of providing reliable, renewable and sustainable energy solutions to our customers.”

With nearly 20 years of experience in highly regulated industries, consumer goods and retail, McDonald spent more than a decade in the alcohol beverage industry at Diageo, where she was vice president of corporate communications for that company’s North American business. Most recently, she served in an interim capacity responsible for global external communications at retailer Hudson’s Bay Company.

“The energy sector is rapidly evolving, and as one of the cleanest energy companies in the country, AVANGRID is a leader in innovation and sustainability,” said McDonald. “I look forward to leading communications that articulate the important role AVANGRID is playing in our economy and society.”

McDonald holds a master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International & Public Affairs and a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
