Beth-El Center Seeking Input From Milford, Woodbridge On Homeshare

The Beth-El Center in Milford is seeking homeowner input on the feasibility of piloting a homeshare program in Milford and Woodbridge.

The center is asking homeowners in both towns to complete a brief online survey to assess how they view homesharing to better understand the challenges of establishing a homesharing program in south-central Connecticut.

Homesharing is a housing strategy that helps both people with available living space and those seeking housing explore shared living arrangements: a homeowner offers a private bedroom and shared common area in exchange for an agreed-on benefit such as affordable rent, help around the house, transportation to appointments, yard work, meal preparation or companionship. Homesharing allows homeowners to reduce the burden of maintaining their homes, including receiving rent to pay increased property taxes and housing maintenance costs, while providing affordable housing solutions for others.

There are over 55 homesharing programs across the country providing differing levels of support for homeowners and home-seekers, including screenings, compatibility reviews, written agreements and follow-ups.
