The Friends of the Milford Library’s Gulf Beach Little Library is open for the season.

“Little libraries are a fun way to encourage reading, strengthen the community, and see Milford,” said Ashley Volkens, president of the Friends. “Our team of Little Library stewards, led by Judy Salemme, keeps the libraries stocked and in tip top shape.”

Little libraries follow the simple concept of “take a book, leave a book.” Each of the little libraries has volunteer stewards who are responsible for overseeing and checking on the stock of books.

When leaving a book, keep in mind that space is limited and no books are to be left outside the Little Library box. Additionally, these libraries are meant for books, not food, toys or other goods.

The Friends of the Milford Library has three little libraries: the Gulf Beach Little Library on Gulf Street, the Firehouse Art Gallery Little Library at 81 Naugatuck Ave. and the Milford YMCA Little Library at 631 Orange Ave., located off the parking lot, near the ball fields. All are open and stocked. The Milford Train Station Little Library closed this year due to the closing of the train station cafe.
