Local jazz group Eight Men Swinging will perform at the Milford Arts Council in Milford on Wednesday, July 1. The group has been rehearsing for years at the Mary Taylor Church on the town green. This is their debut concert.
The group will play from the catalog of the Dave Pell Octet. Pell was an American jazz saxophonist, bandleader and record producer in the 50s and 60s. He was best known for leading a cool jazz octet in the 1950s.
This concert will feature hip and clever arrangements of the Great American songbook by such notable arrangers as Marty Paich, Bill Holman, Shorty Rogers and John Williams.
Tickets are $23 is advance. Doors open at 7 p.m.; the show starts at 7:30. The MAC is located at 40 Railroad Ave. South.
