Milford To Continue BLM Book Discussions

The Milford community is invited to participate via Zoom in the second in a series of meetings on Oct. 13 to address racial injustice in the city.

On Sept. 8, 2020, members of the Boards of Aldermen and Education engaged in a conversation in support of the “Justice and Equality Resolution” passed by the Board of Aldermen this summer. One of the goals from the resolution was to “build alliances with those committed to justice for all and to work together to support our shared conviction that racism must end.”

That conversation was moderated by Dr. Leon Bailey, Senior Vice President for Human Resources and Organizational Culture at the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and chaired by Alders Connie Gaynor and Frank Smith. It focused on Carol Anderson’s book, White Rage, which details the history of systemic racism in America.

The Oct. 13 conversation, which begins at 7 p.m., will again focus on the first chapter of White Rage. Registration is required. To register, email the BLM Community Conversations Chair Jolyn Walker at MilfordBLMbook@yahoo.com.
