Milford’s Smith Endorsed By GOP For House Seat

The Milford Republican Town Committee unanimously nominated lifelong Milford resident and real estate agent Erik Smith to represent the 118th state House District. In the May 21 Milford Republican Town Committee meeting, prominent members and city officials said Smith’s background and noteworthy career experience is an asset to the people of Milford.

Milford Alderman Ray Vitali highlighted Smith’s strong connection to the city of Milford and his work experience as evidence of his qualifications for the seat.

“Erik is a young, intelligent, energetic, and capable individual,” Vitali said. “He went to Mathewson Elementary School, Harborside Middle School, and graduated from Jonathan Law. He is a local, top-producing real estate agent. With these kinds of credentials, Erik would make a fine candidate for the 118th.”

Peter Berube, vice-chairman of the MRTC, detailed why he thinks Smith will make a great representative for Milford.

“I believe with his master’s degree in business administration from Fairfield University and his bachelor of science in marketing from Quinnipiac University, along with his distinguished real estate background, he is more than qualified,” said Berube. “As a lifelong resident, he is dedicated to listening to the concerns of the people around him. I believe he has earned our respect and trust.”

Smith’s acceptance speech highlighted the growing issues of affordability in the state.

“As a real estate agent, I meet a lot of people; and the conversation often turns to how expensive it is to live in this state,” he said. He also spoke about the upcoming November election, saying, “We can continue on the same path we’ve been on and allow the Democrats in Hartford to overtax everything, or we can take back their control and make the necessary changes to make life easier for the people in Connecticut.”

Prior to being a full-time realtor, Smith had 15 years of experience as a marketing manager in the corporate environment.
