Members of the Orange Volunteer Fire Department will honor firefighters and other first responders killed by terrorists in the attacks on the US on Sept. 11, 2001.
The ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8 on the Orange Town Green. The public is invited.
The attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, DC occurred 25 years ago this year, killing 343 firefighters, eight EMS workers, and 71 law enforcement personnel. In addition, 55 military members were killed at the Pentagon. Since that day, about 450 firefighters have died due to related illnesses while others continue to be ill from attack-related ailments.
