History teacher and living historian Brian Blake portrayed Major Benjamin Tallmadge, General George Washington’s spymaster and a major in the 2nd Continental Light Dragoons during the Revolutionary War, during an interactive presentation on July 18 at the Bryan-Andrew House in Orange. Tallmadge led a network of spies known as the Culper Ring that provided Washington with critical intelligence on British troop movements and operated for five years without any agents being unmasked. The network was responsible for uncovering Connecticut native Benedict Arnold’s treason.
